Delicious Omakase; great service; relaxed and pleasant environment—but we went early (4 pm)

Fabulous food
Second time coming to Sushi of Gari but this was at a different location on Columbus ave. Really enjoyed this, as this place was a lot bigger than the Tribeca location. Food tasted amazing as before, desert was delicious, and just a very good vibe. If you want great tasting sushi, come here!

By far the best sushi and sashimi on the Upper West Side, creative, delicious, and fresh. Unfortunately, the price is also sky high. The interior is serviceable and the service pleasant, but not quite what you would expect for the four star bill.
As we were leaving Gari after an amazing meal, some passersby asked whether it was good. We said yes, absolutely; but when we heard that they were poor students we steered them toward a more economical destination.
Amazing sushi. But waited over 30 minutes for my reservation.. which was kind of annoying. But the Tuna Yukhoe and Yellowtail Jalapeño sushi is the best hands down.
Just wonderful sushi. I really like that Chef Gari enhances the flavor of the sushi without soy sauce. I did enjoy the sushi more than the sashimi I must say. It’s not that it’s not the freshest but the added flavors seem to come through more with the sushi. We’ve been to Gari at 46 many times but I enjoy the more airy setting of this location. Gary’s special sakes are always a nice complement to the food. I particularly like the variety of omikase items. It’s very pricey but worth the splurge.

The sushi was not good, the sauces on every piece was very overwhelming. Somehow we were not offered the menu - our service simply asked if we wanted to do the omakase, which does not include any appetizers before the sushi pieces. After we received our first few pieces, we realized that there were no appraisers and awkwardly asked for the menu and ordered.

Exquisite Omakase experience. The food was delicious but I’d say served too quickly and the wait staff was a little pushy but we did love it.
