Really delicious sushi. I really enjoyed the fatty tuna roll. Wait staff was great. They give you a hot towel when you come in!
We enjoyed the service and the sushi. Sushi tasting menu was quite good. Sake prices are high. It was an enjoyable meal and a good overall experience.
Gari has become a NY staple, but their cuisine continues to surprise. Delicious, fresh ideas for sushi and amazing sake list. The omakase is worth it!!!
Truly terrible. We had omakase at the counter and each course was worse than the last. The "ceviche" sushi and the salmon with sauteed tomato were particular horrors, but each $12 piece of fish was foul in its own unique way - from uni that had been left out too long to shimaaji drowned in jar bought pickled jalepeno. The only upside is that it created a bonding experience - 5 days later and we're still shuddering over it.
Love the noodles, the mushrooms and philadelphia cheese and anchovies dumplings!!!
Exceptional sushi. We dared an outstanding experience with two kids under the age of 8 and they were accommodating and made the experience wonderful for us all. Some of the best sushi we’ve ever had. Thank you!
Found fish scale on my sushi plate.
Beautiful and delicious sushi. Everything else was excellent as well, and having been to japan several times, I have high standards for Japanese food. Wonderful service as well.
Phenomenal quality fish. Excellent service. Unique and so amazing inventions
Omakase was delicious! The sushi melted in your mouth.
The BEST Omakase we've ever had. An experience we'll never forget.
I was really disappointed with this place. I spent $110 for lunch (party of 2) but the value of restaurant was poor.
I ordered a cup of tea first but I found lipstick stains on the cup...
$50 Lunch Sushi special was okay but nothing special.
I would much rather go to the other place.
We love Gari. Tough to go back to the neighborhood sushi joints after Gari particularly if you’re having the omakase which is always amazing
Sushi of Gari always has a consistently excellent Omakase. Fresh , delicious and innovative pieces.
I don't know better sushi in Manhattan at this price point. Probably best to point on the menu to the item you are ordering.
Good restaurant, sushi is good, skip the main course
Always the best!!!!
We couldn’t have been more impressed with the sushi. The chef’s creations are definitely the way to go.
Brother was visiting from out of town. Wonderful place to grab dinner. The omakase was amazing.
It was fantastic!!!!
One of the best Japanese restaurants in NYC. The food is excellent. The creation and the combination of the sushi with Gari’s signature sauce really make them different from other Japanese restaurants. It is good to try both sushi and sashimi. I strongly recommend this place if you really want the best Japanese food. I had the lunch special sashimi. I personally love the salmon sushi with tomato.
A notch below the hushed temples of sushi, and definitely not hushed during the evening --- a louder more boisterous atmosphere than I'd like for a top notch sushi experience.
Been here several times..
Great place to take guests.
Food great...such goog fresh sushi
My husband took me for my birthday and the sashimi chef selection was amazing! Each piece of fish was paired with its own unique sauce and no soy sauce was to be found in the restaurant. Our favorite piece was the seared fluke wrapped around a quail egg and the seared toro. We will definitely return and this restaurant is not our favorite sushi/sashimi place.
Best sushi I've had.. ever. And by a wide margin.
Todo bien !!! Recomendable nos atendieron bien y rápido !!!
Delish excellent tasty sushi service was lacking
Best sushi in NYC.
Average sushi and expensive
Not the best and could have been better
Good spot for a team lunch. Looking forward to our next visit.
The food was not that good as I am used to. Sorry. It just did not really taste as good to me.
This was a wonderful meal sampling 12 varieties from the menu. Service was great and a really enjoyable meal.
Great experience and food
Excellent food and ambiance. Needs a little sprucing up of decor and ambiance.
Reliable. Very good to excellent sushi and sashimi. Major complaint is that they haven't changed the menu - the special sushi/sashimi is the same as it was many years ago.
While the service was outstanding and attentive, the omakase tasting interesting - we were somewhat disappointed due to the large number of young children and the noise they produce at this reported upscale swanky sushi restaurant. In addition, my wife and I developed severe gastrointestinal problems that lasted for several days which started shortly after we left the restaurant.
One of the best Japanese food in NY.
