Sushi Neko Ratings and Reviews
I have been going to Sushi Neko for many years now and have always found the food good. The last few times the sushi has not been what I've come to expect from them. The rolls didn't seem as fresh and they fell apart. It was still good just not like it used to be. I will still come on occasion but it has dropped on my list. I do have to say that the services was great as always.
We love Sushi Neko and we're happy to take out of town friends to enjoy sushi at our favorite OKC spot. My personal favorite is the Cowboy Roll. The only down side to this lovely location is that it can get noisy if it is very crowded and reservations on the evenings are always a good idea if you have more than two people.
My wife and I went there on "date night," and being located on a gentrified, hot spot area, we had high exectations. We weren't disappointed!! We had the Mermaid and Lifesaver sushi rolls for appetizers that were to die for. Fresh, full-flavored with layers of textures, these babies went down quick.
We followed those up with udon soup, and a spicy miso ramen bowl. Living in Japan for a number of years, I can say that I know ramen. The taste of the broth alone had me in a godzilla-rampage. I couldn't stop slurping! Amazingly good.
The server was knowledgeable and not-overbearing. He was there when we needed him, but left us alone to enjoy eath other and our meal! We left feeling satisfied and rubbing our happy bellies. We will be back.
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Sushi Neko. The service was spot-on, the staff did not constantly bug you with checking on you every 5 seconds, but instead would casually walk by and if something needed to be taken care of they did promptly. All the food we ordered was impeccable. We ordered the Tuna Steak (which I have not been able to find a restaurant whose tuna can even compare to Sushi Neko’s), Sushi Dinner, Cajun roll, and the Banana Tempura with Ice Cream (AMAZING!!). We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. Also make sure to make reservations because they are a popular choice for dinner.
The food and drinks were phenomenal! I loved the atmosphere, and we received amazing service and quality. Parking was a little inconvenient, but that was literally the only issue. Everything else was pretty perfect! We will definitely be going back. It was worth the drive from Lawton.
This was our first time at Sushi Neko. My wife likes sushi more than I do. She ordered the tootsie roll and the red canyon roll, while I ordered the Captain Crunch roll. We both thought the red canyon roll was the best. The bites of crawfish on top were substantial, and the sauce was genuinely spicy. The tootsie roll was underwhelming - not too much flavor. The Captain Crunch roll had enough crunch to make it interesting, and the crunch made a nice texture constrast with the chewiness of the sushi rice.
The lighting is low in here, so you may need to use a flashlight to help you see your menu. The sound environment is okay. Although there are TVs in the dining room, most of the noise comes from other diners.
Just had lunch here yesterday. I have tried all of the sushi restaurants in Oklahoma City and Neko continually tops the list. Freshest ingredients, most creative menu, and far and away the best service. It's the attention to detail that makes it so right, from the food and drinks to the music and ambiance. I know my wife feels the same.
While the food was fresh and I believe prepared by skilled chefs, the aim to appeal to an American stomach was too strong for Neko and has resulted in inedibly large rolls that are so unwieldy and cumbersome that you won't be able to eat a single piece of a roll in one bite.
My son took me here for a belated Mother's Day dinner since he had to work on Mother's Day. The service was wonderful! Our waiter suggested an amazing drink. The grapefruit Moscow Mule was so good!!! Perfect timing on the food, refills, and to-go order. Will definitely be a repeat customer!!
We had a great early dinner. Danny was our waiter and, as always, he took very good care of us. Had calamari as an appetizer, king salmon sashimi, red canyon roll and a Nemo roll (special of the month). Sapporo and rose wine that was featured for the month. It was all fantastic.
I must admit I have one major rule when it comes to sushi: no cream cheese. The majority of special rolls at Sushi Neko feature cream cheese, and for me that really cuts down on the options. I know this rule doesn't apply to everyone, but to have one no-traditional ingredient so pervasive in a menu is disappointing. Also, the rolls were not rolled well. They fell apart much too easily.
Taste wise, everything was good. Nothing was exceptional. I can spend half as much and get the same quality elsewhere.
I will most likely not return.
