I heard that Mr. Nakazawa was a student from chef Ono Jiro. But I can’t believe it. First of all, rice was not well cooked. Therefore, fish and rice couldn’t combine in the mouse. And the rice was too sour. I never felt rice’s sweet taste because of the too much sour taste. In addition, Chef Ono Jiro is one of the best sushi masters. He thought that for sushi master earning money is not the important thing. He said the best important thing for the sushi master is serving best sushi to guests. But I wasn’t able to see Mr. Nakazawa in his restaurant. It is too natural for sushi master making sushi himself. I felt he want to make business. He doesn’t want to be a great sushi master like his sensei. I really disappointed because I expected to enjoy great sushi; however, I was not able to get great sushi. I really want to ask Mr. Nakazawa to be a great sushi master and making all sushi himself. His staff can prepare food ingredients, but he has to taste all ingredients and make sushi himself. If he owns two restaurants, how can he make all sushi himself? Select one restaurant and focus just on one. Please remember what Mr. Ono Jiro said.

The omakase meal was excellent and priced fairly. What made the meal even more special was the service, which was flawless, and the ambiance, which was serene. The sake by glass is a bit pricey, but not outrageous given comparable restaurants. Overall, it was a great experience that I'd highly recommend.

Really good sushi, but they forgot to do anything for my Japanese guest’s birthday despite saying over text (attached) they would include a candle.

They blew me off after I texted about it and haven’t responded to an email since a week now. John Shin, the manager, gave a half hearted apology over the phone and isn’t really good at his job, given this is all documented. The place was better before team Nakazawa sent Cody Nason to manage the DC restaurant. Surprising behavior for a restaurant with a Michelin Star. Avoid for special events.

My sister and I weee able to get reservations within a week for a Friday lunch. We very much enjoyed the experience and thought it was a good value for the quality of the sushi. We left happy and almost too full. I would go again for a special occasion, especially if someone else was paying! In the end for omakase, one wine glass of sake and tip it was about $230 per person.

There was a closet where the staff could help you hang your coats. Then you can have a seat on the bar. After making every roll, the main chef will introduce informations to you. The experience was amazing and the place is super quiet. Overall a very good place to go!

Easily the best sushi in New York City that I’ve been able to experience. Their service was impeccable in the fish was extremely fresh. My only issue was that it didn’t feel like the sushi chef was very interested in speaking to us. I understand that he was probably very busy as he was making sushi for everyone sitting at the bar, but I didn’t feel as if I was being invited to eat there.

We had an amazing time at the sushi bar. The chefs were so friendly as were the rest of the wait staff and the G.M. :) The sushi pieces were so fresh, thoughtfully put together and tasted heavenly. The decor and vibe were so pleasant as well with clean, crisp, white design. Hope to go back again soon!

Omakase was delightfully prepared. Wonderful sushi rice. Freshest fish. Enchanted caviar. Succulent uni two types to compare and contrast. Sake list impeccable selection. Nice host help with my Ordering of sake. I needed a bit of help there. Authentic. Excellent price point. Punctual seating. Amicable environment at the sushi counter. Female sushi chef. Best Tomago ever had, bar none! Arrigato from Buffalo, New York foodie.

I went to Sushi Nakazawa for lunch and it was well worth the price of admission. It truly is a gem and worth the Michelin Star it just received. Unassuming from outside but once entering you feel you are somewhere special. It was Omakase style and I opted for a couple of add-ons (cavier, Uni) so the bill added up. Really was such an awesome experience. I definitely will try and get back there for the dinner version which I am sure will be eventful. Great stuff by Nakazawa.

Don’t listen to any reviews that are negative for this place. That person in general probably couldn’t be pleased if they hit the lotto.....Visited this past Saturday for the first time, sat at the sushi bar. Unreal from top to bottom. Food, service, eveything on point. Staff extremely knowledgeable and informative. From the precision of the chefs after receiving precise calls from the expeditor to the front hostess who greeted us when we arrived and of course our server who was just fantastic this place is a must go for true sushi lovers who can think beyond the local gimmicky spicy tuna roll....
