What Insiders Are Saying
How much will you like the West Village's Sushi Nakazawa? How much money do you have, and how recently did you watch Jiro Dreams of Sushi?
The best sushi experience of your life. Period.
My father and I came here for a special occasion. This was perhaps the best meal I have ever had.
One of the best omakase experiences I’ve had the opportunity to enjoy. The fish was super fresh, and even though I didn’t get to dine under chef nakazawa personally, all the sushi chefs working behind the bar were super attentive.
Very good though on expensive side.
Absolutely the best sushi/meal I’ve ever had.
We sat at the bar and it was incredible! Wonderful experience all around. Will definitely come back soon.
It was awesome.
I've been to various omakase restaurants before and Sushi Nakazawa was great. The highlights were the three cuts of toro (akami, chutoro, otoro), two types of uni, and Miyazaki A5 Wagyu beef nigiri. I was a little bit disappointed that Chef Nakazawa himself was not there, however the Chef Katsushi Sakai was great too. The waitress did an excellent job explaining every piece of nigiri. Overall it was a great experience to watch these chefs make sushi in front of your eyes with precision and it was worth every dollar.
I've been here before, the food is amazing as usual.
The best sushi we have ever had. The service is incredible - the plate had barely touched the bar before the staff was over to explain the dish
Amazing sushi, service and omakase. Loses one star for charging us for wagyu, which I specifically said we did not want when booking (no red meat). The waiter forgot to mention the special charge till the bill arrived and only one person ate red meat in my party. There was plenty of food otherwise. All the sushi was excellent and the service impeccable. Pricey but worth it for a special occasion. Definitely sit at the sushi bar if you can!
Haven’t been here since 2013 and it was everything I remembered. Fish was extremely fresh. Had some of my favorites from when I first came and now I have some more to add to the list. The head chef was a delight and even accommodated my fiancé with her videos of him preparing the sushi. Everything was so amazing that we ended up ordering additional pieces at the end of our favorites.
Service was on point. Never did I have to ask for more water. The moment I looked over, someone would already be there to help.
Unbelievable food and service
Best sushi experience so far at sushi bar. Great food, great service, watching the chief making sushi is quite fun
One of the best dining experience we’ve ever had!
I sat at the sushi bar for lunch. I’ve enjoyed sushi all over the world and this experience was by far the most outstanding. The courses were amazing. The service was spot on. They meticulously described every piece that was put in front of me. I will definitely be back!
One of the best dining experiences.
I love this place
My husband and I expected the sushi to be amazing, but found it to be good not great. The experience was odd. Usually you sit at the counter to experience the chef making your sushi, but it felt like the main kitchen for the entire restaurant. It didn’t feel intimate and cozy. It was fine. Also, there was a server that appeared from behind that would whisper what the sushi chef put on your plate. It felt a bit awkward and strange. Wouldn’t go again.
The absolute in Sushi dining!! Exquisite and precise. Never enjoyed a meal more in my life. Hard to explain other than perfection. Highly recommended.
Amazing. Each piece of sushi was mind-blowing.
Unbelievable experience. Exceptional omakase.
Outstanding as always!
The best ever.
Amazing experience! Very much worth the price, one of the best omakases in New York!
Amazing. Best sushi in NYC
Absolutely wonderful experience! Amazing sushi, great service!
Anniversary dinner and it did not disappoint. Def recommend sushi bar to see the expertise the chefs put into the work!
Amazing in every way! So good! The sushi was so awesome! The service was attentive. Only thing is, it's hard to get reservations! Booked a month in advance.
Best sushi I’ve ever had, worth every penny. So many memorable pieces - the Hokkaido uni, squid, scallop, fatty tuna, etc.
Out first meal when visiting New York City. The omakase was mind blowing!! Our chef is expertise in his area and the served course is fresh and tasty. Love it and will come back again when next visit happens!
Loved our birthday celebration. Totally amazing food and theater. Did not feel rushed. Only thing i didn’t like was the up-selling during the meal. It cheapened the experience. We definitely are glad we chose the bar and not a table. It was a worthwhile expense.
Great food BUT unreasonably expensive wine and sake list. I asked the sommelier for a dry bottle of sake in the 80 dollars range his answer was that it wasn’t possible for less than 120 dollars. For 80 dollars you get semi dry.
Loved the omakase, everything was spectacular. Would have been great if there was more than one chef working on omakase for better flow of work.
