How much will you like the West Village's Sushi Nakazawa? How much money do you have, and how recently did you watch Jiro Dreams of Sushi?
Perfect sushi with warm service!
Extraordinary dining experience. Truly a special time dining with Chef Nakazawa. Service is exceptional, the menu is beautifully constructed, every bite is delicious, and all the details are got right.
AWESOME - just spectacular. It is one of the best meals I have ever had. Would recommend 1000X over
Bone in one piece of white fish. Ginger pickled in too much vinegar for my taste. Hokkaido uni was not fresh, though Santa Barbara uni was great. Rest of meal excellent and service was outstanding. If not for bone and uni, would be perfect experience.
This was some of the best sushi I've had in New York, and pretty close to the best I've had in Japan, not surprising given the chef and the fact that most of the fish is from Japan. It's obviously expensive -- our lunch for two, with the caviar extra, a good bottle of wine and a couple of extra glasses, was $800 -- but a very nice experience. I would not order the caviar sushi again, it was fine but not great, and $35 is too much for one piece that's merely "fine," but everything else was excellent. I liked that there were two unis, one from California and one from Hokkaido. Both excellent (I preferred the California, my date the Hokkaido). The room is very well designed, as is the bar/waiting area. If money is no object, this is a very nice place to spend a couple of hours eating raw fish.
Go! Go! Go!! Amazing!!
I became incredibly ill after eating. Severe abdominal pain.
Hands down best sushi I have ever had. Will come back again :-)
Is not the best
Kind of overrated, no surprise!
Read so many great things about this place and it didn’t disappoint! Amazing dining experience all the way around. It’s expensive but worth it!
You can have one of the best highend level of sushi here.
Eat at the bar, it was super cool.
Just some darned good sushi. What more can I say. And also some great sake if you get some recommendations for your waiter or server
This was a wonderful dining experience. The chef was right in front of us cutting the pieces and explaining it to us. The fish was amazing along with some rare varieties. The ambiance was quiet and calming.
Best meal of my life. My wife and I celebrated our anniversary over lunch (I know, I know, but it was the only reservation we could get here!!), and we endeavor to return here every trip we make to the city going forward. The staff was fantastic and the meal was unbelievable. Cannot wait to come back.
It was a great experience. The sushi was heavenly and the service was top notch. Although expensive, it was worth it.
Best Sushi meal ever, and I’ve been to all the similar top nyc places.
Just amazing sushi.
Excellent, best sushi experience in nyc
A nearly perfect meal. Minor criticism about my tea not being replenished and some confusion at the end of the meal about the offer to repeat a course. The sushi and wagyu beef were superb. We loved every course. We appreciated the subtle surprises in the seasoning of each piece. I highly recommend this experience if you want exquisite sushi.
I’ve been fortunate to come here multiple times, this was my 2nd seating at the Sushi Bar and the meal was close to perfect. The only piece that I wasn’t excited about was the shrimp/prawn, it was rather plain and uneventful, somewhat lacking in flavor. Otherwise the meal, service and fish selection were sublime.
This place was fantastic
Awesome experience. It’s like watching a performance (the Omakase).
Food was fantastic. However I would recommend getting a 8.30 time slot. I had a 7.15 counter slot and we felt very rushed, the sushi came too quickly. It was clear the restaurant was trying to get you out as soon possible to prepare for the next group.
Enjoyed lunch at the Sushi Bar on a Saturday. Lovely staff, on point without being intrusive. Chef Nakazawa was not at the restaurant when we were there. We had a male chef and there was a woman sushi chef there as well. Impressive to see.
For $150 pp you get a lot of food. $420 all in with tax, tip and a $20 pot of tea
Just wish I loved all the sushi. I didn’t.
Glad we tried it.
Beautiful service! The sushi was fresh and delicious. It was fascinating to watch the the sushi chefs at work preparing each individual piece with such care and attention to detail. The rest of the staff was thoughtful and made the dining experience comfortable.
Huge splurge (easily 500+ dollars if you're buying drinks), but so worth it. Eat at the sushi bar if possible. Best experience of Sushi I've ever had. So many flavors and textures. Service was impeccable. This is an unforgettable meal.
Best experience ever
Exceptional food, outstanding service, and a wonderful experience.
It was an amazing experience! Highly recommended!
The sushi is outstanding, as expected.
That said, however, the omakase is limited to just sushi. Some of the other high end Japanese places offer more interesting appetizers and additions. In other words, don’t expect any soup, noodles or vegetables.
The sake selection is top notch and the service is outstanding.
Overall Sushi Nakazawa is an outstanding sushi dinner, with lively chefs and very attentive staff, but is the kind of place you once but not repetitively.
The best sushi and dining experience! Thank you
