Located in a quaint and quiet street, this restaurant reminded me of the one in Japan. The staff is very professional and attentive. The food was spot on! The sushi was so fresh and the sake pairings was a delight. Next time I decide to dine there, I’ll request seating at the sushi bar. The dining room was fully packed and the noise level to the max. It was so loud, I had to read the wait staff’s lips every time they presented us with food. Aside from the noise level, I was still able to enjoy the sushi. The omakase and sake pairing made my taste buds dance the nutcracker. Every bite was worth it!! It’s a must try!!

Pretty fabulously perfect for my daughter’s 23rd birthday with “the parents”. Spectacular high end Sushi/Sake pairings. Superbly fresh, delicious, creative, beautiful, appitizing and mouthwateringly yummy sushi.
Expert Sake pairings, a fantastic array and quite generous pours.
Highly trained and polished professional sohm and wait staff-plus warm and friendly with a sense of humor and respect-which is a rare find.
Anxious for a return visit.
In a lovely intimate and smallish dining room, my only caveat: pretty high decibel of noise.

High quality sushi. Price is on the high end but to be expected for what you get. Great dining experience overall starting with the preparation and presentation from the chefs... sake pairing selections... the service and attentiveness at the table.. and personal attention from staff. Excellent and enjoyable.

Only not 5 stars because I work in an amazing sushi restaurant where I can order the same quality without the New York tax. But great omakase for anybody who has never had one before and never had that quality of sushi.

Finally got a reservation after trying for special occasions since it open. It was worth the wait! Possibly the best sushi we've had and we have been to many of the "best" places. Happy that we could order some of our favorites when the omakase ended Our experience was significantly enhanced by trying a range of wonderful saki's by the glass, which were recommended by the sommelier, Small dining room and waitperson:diner ratio allowed for a lot of personal attention. Unfortunately, it also permitted a table of people too drunk to use their "inside voices" to dominate. Might have helped if management gently told them that they were not alone. Meal was more expensive than some weekends we've had. But also more memorable.

Have been there with a friend as a birthday gift following the review in the NYT as eye opening and best sushi experience ever.
Both of us were severely disappointed, mostly because of the not so special nigiris and the fact that no one ever dared to ask whether we were happy with the food presented or not. Given the price level we would have appreciated being asked about the quality, especially because we left half of the rice behind as it was way too much (given the voluminous texture).
Let's not talk about the egg custard and lychee sorbet ending the dinner.
Worst price value ever when it comes to sushi.

I was sadly disappointed. The sushi did not come close to the quality of many other less expensive purveyors of sushi. Yes I know this is a different concept, not a traditional sushi restaurant, but the freshness was not there, the flavor of some pieces of fish was off. I had a piece of squid that I was unable to swallow, even though I chewed it for a very long time. I had a piece of wagyu beef that was also like leather. This kind of beef should melt in your mouth. I was staggered by the bill! This is a dining experience for people that know nothing about sushi and for wanna be foodies. I wanted to like it. I was prepared to be wowed. It was just ok. I was expecting it to be outstanding. I felt duped. You can have fabulous service, and they did, but if the food isn't up to the mark, it doesn't matter what else they do.

Excellent on all levels, food, service ambiance. Clearly the best sushi we have had omekase. My son’s 15 year old palette completely spoiled of other sushi. He is still talking about the wonderful food and presentation. We hope to return again.

A perfect place to indulge a little. Food was excellent, service A+. Our server noticed I was left-handed and arranged the items on the plate so I could eat L to R as the pieces were described and in the order they were to be eaten.

We stayed up until midnight to grab a reservation with the highest of expectations. And they were handily exceeded with the most deft of hands. The food was amazing and experience perfect. This will be a hard meal to top. Truly an Omakase from a chef to be trusted.

This restaurant serves the best sushi I've ever eaten - anywhere - and I've been to all of the top sushi restaurants in NY, LA, etc. The food is perfection and so is the service - especially the Manager John Shin. Everything about this place is fantastic.

For sushi, this was at best a 3/5 . I've had sushi all across the country and this isn't as good as I thought it would be. The selection was not great, considering there are places that have tons more selection of high end tuna and ocean fish, this was very underwhelming.

On top of that, the host who called and confirmed did Not mention there was a dress code, but it was mentioned at the door. A lack of communication on their part.

Service is VERY good here, but the lack of quality fish and tuna selection breaks the deal for us.

We've paid for $600 Omasake at other restaurants that where 10x better. Not just a fish, but rice was 3/5 at best as well.

Needs refining and Better tuna and fish selection.

We will not return again.
