Sushi Nakazawa - Dining Room
Both sushi bar seats and tables in our dining room are made available 30 calendar days in advance.
Simply incredible. Outstanding food composition and presentation. The Sake options were varied and aligned well with each plate. Will definitely come back again.
Outstanding service. Sushi was incomparable. Noise level was a bit loud.
Easily the best sushi I’ve ever had and one of the four or five best meals I’ve ever had period. I don’t really know how it gets better.
We were took on a journey through different flavors of textures that can only be led to such talented chefs.
Best sushi so far
Serata unica! Cibo incredibile, che ancora oggi la mia mente ricorda tutte le senzazioni che gli ha dato.
Servizio impeccabile, attento, professionale e allo stesso tempo molto cordiale.
We visited for our honeymoon from New Zealand. The restaurant is outstanding.
Opted for the 9 course tasting menu. Each nigiri course had at least 2-4 pieces so it definitely added up; we were so full! The specials included sturgeon caviar, monkfish liver (tasted like foie gras), and A5 Miyazaki wagyu. Highly recommend this for a special occasion. Would absolutely return for another visit.
The tea is good, the sushi is incredible, the service is kind. Overall, the experience is awesome. Gonna visit again in the future.
An excellent occasion to dine in such a famous restaurant served by chef Nakazawa the service is of Michelin stars before and during the service. The dishes are prepared one by one according to the taste the freshness and the visualization of objects. We seem to have travelled within a deep sea universe where we could eat what we could in a sea navigator cabin.... amazing. Should eat once or more in our short life as compared to the age of the galaxy
Best sushi in NYC
The quality of the sushi is outstanding. Indeed, it’s the best in New York. My sole suggestion is a little coaching for the fine wait staff. They are very attentive, but I would suggest that they try to get to know their clients and the clients’ level of comprehension about sushi. We are cognoscenti and have lived in Japan twice. We have decades of experience. The presentation was for the average New Yorker — the staff treated us as though we knew nothing about sushi. To the contrary, we probably know more than they do. I did not resent the presentation but one of my party did. Sufficient it to say, the staff should inquire whether the guest is new to sushi or very familiar, and tailor the presentation accordingly. This is a rather modest comment. The meal was fabulous.
Excellent Omakase experience. Pricy, but for a special occasion but we thought it was worth it. Sometimes you just got to treat yo self.
This is my favorite sushi restaurant in the city! We took our friends who were visiting NYC, since you can’t get amazing sushi like this out side of NYC. It’s in a great area too. Next time I will have to try to do a date night at the bar counter. Thank you always!
The food overall was exceptional but there was a little downside, that’s why I gave only four stars for the food and three for service:
1. The cuttlefish nigiri was overpowered by the shiso leave.
2. We ordered an extra hotate hand roll and a Hokkaido Uni. The brought both out together, so the nori of the handroll was sogi. For the price you pay, I expect them do pay attention to detail.
3. Service was very fast in a bad way, they didn’t took the time to communicate with us. I felt rushed during my omakase. The service don’t go well along the food.
Last but not least, I would recommend to offer a menu explaining the different dining options. It felt like upselling like they present it now.
So overall really good food with a great price value.
Amazing. Fish was absolutely perfect.
Traveled from southern California for my fiance's birthday. Had the omakase experience in the dining room with a sake pairing. Was well worth the trip. May be the best sushi I've ever had in my life so far!
What omakase should be ! Delicious
Luxury Japanese cuisine at its finest. Expensive but so incredibly worth it.
This was my second experience at sushi nakazawa. Everything was wonderful, except for the quality of the fish. I’ve enjoyed many omakase offerings throughout the city, and the quality of the fish was lacking.
Wonderful experience and service
It was a great meal with great wine and good sake recommendations. 2nd time going. Will go again.
best sushi meal i've had EVER! this was my second time with the omakase and it was just as amazing as i remembered it to be. i wish i actually lived in the east coast to enjoy this at least once a month!
Really rude services and too much ingredients in fish.
I’m from San Francisco and travel to Japan often. When you order Toro, especially at an expensive Sushi restaurant, one would expect to receive a marbled peice of delicious Tuna. Here, you receive what I could only describe as “puree” of Toro on rice - something that they will do in Japan to hide not so fresh Toro cuts that were expensive when purchased. Other fish was chewy and some slices had evidence that they were more than a day old or near frozen for a period of time. I could forgive this at a three star sushi place... but not for this price.
Fine dining Omakase experience at its best!
this price can eat much better food ， i have a 9 course omakase ，but i dont want to eat after the 5 course ....
Food was good, they can modify the meal according to your preferences as well.
The meal was beyond fantastic. The dining room was a bit louder than we were hoping for. If you have the option go with the Sushi Bar.
Excellent sushi. The west-coasters giving a contrary opinion are just regional snobs. I’ve eaten at the beat west coast places & in Japan. Nakazawa is strong.
Food is good. Sushi variety is a bit limited, but fresh.
Overall, it is a omakase choice in NYC.
definitely relaxing environment to have Sushi if you are not sitting at sushi bar. Service is great at Tamgo is great.
The experience was marvelous. the 23 types of sushi served to us were delicious and beautifully presented.
Amazing! Every piece of sushi was perfect and impeccable service.
In a word - disappointing. Dining room was way too loud, wait staff was cold and uninterested. Food great, but too expensive.
For paying $600 for two people and all the rave reviews I was definitely expecting the best sushi ever. The omakase was fresh but definitely not a wow.
Amazing experience ! Very innovative food and presentation.
As close to Real Japanese food outside Japan you can find
This place is amazing. The host John and the chefs make the place one of a kind.
