The sushi fish was not fresh nor cut correctly. This was some of the worst sushi I’ve had!
Food was great but service was very slow. We ordered appetizers but they came out at the same time as the rest of the food. The wait for food was very long and we received little attention from the waitress. There were also incorrect charges on our bill and it took a long time to adjust.
I had been interested in coming here for years and this year we were here the day before Valentine's day and it just so happens to be Chinese New Year. At 5:45 PM the restaurant was almost empty. The entire dinner was just so so. Nothing to brag about but not terrible. For some reason I thought the restaurant was high end like PF Chang but it was run of the mill Chinese restaurant. The restaurant will not disappoint if you don't set your expectations too high.
Excellent service, pleasant atmosphere, fantastic food.
The food and the service were excellent. The prices are great too and will eat there again real soon.
Every thing was great. Will be back soon. The sushi was to die for.
Sushi Kai was a wonderful surprise! The restaurant was packed and luckily I had made reservations ahead of time, they had to turn people away. I wasn't sure what to expect but was very pleased. I asked for some recommendations from the waiter and among other things, he recommended the sea bass which was a special that evening. Wow, was it delicious. We also had soup, rice and the beef chow fun noodles which were ever so soothing. I wish we could have ordered more things but there were only two of us and that was plenty. I will definitely be back! There was a noodle bar/counter that would be fun to sit at too.
sushi was good, the Chinese food was much better. excellent chow mein.
The food was disappointing here. Please note that we only had the sushi, but since sushi is in the name we expected more. The roll we had was not made well, in fact was so bad we had to ask for it to be remade. The sashimi was average at best, not nearly the value paid for it. The service was very good.
I was a bit disappointed in my experience at Sushi Kai. It took quite some time before anyone acknowledged our table. The food was good except for the fact that none of our sushi rolls were cut all the way through, so that proved to be extremely frustrating trying to get a sushi roll with chopsticks! It was New Year's Eve and they didn't do anything to make it special for their customers. Plus the ventilation sucked! I was the person in our group of seven that planned our New Year's night celebration and I guess I let me peeps down.
Jamie and Jericho were great. Food has improved and so has the service.
Excellent food. Service was good.
Service was incredibly slow. Sushi was amazing. The other food (fried noodles and pot stickers) left much to be desired. Though it's called "sushi" kai...not "other food" kai. So stick with sushi and you'll be impressed.
Redeemed some opentable points for this restaurant and they didn’t accept them. Hopefully I can get them back...
The restaurant was not busy but our appetizer crab rangoon came out with the main course and cool. I asked for extra spicy on the curry chicken but the waiter brought out the red sauce to add on later. Food had no flavor but it did come out hot.
An outstanding sushi dining experience. The best sushi in Northern Nevada...so far!
Always great food.
Walked into the bar because they were running 15 minutes behind on our reservation. Bar was covered with half filled & empty glasses, dirty plates and food particles scattered everywhere. Bartender was nice but this should not be the 1st thing you see when walking in. Service was terrible. We waited for just about everything. Food was fair - nothing exceptional as advertised. Waiter was more interested in cleaning up the tables and resetting them so he could go home instead of waiting on us. Please note that we were there at 8pm and the restaurant closes at 9:30 so we weren't holding anyone up.
Really generic food and rolls. Adjacent bathroom was deplorable and drinks were uninteresting and weak.
Found this little gem on last night in Tahoe. its a little hidden on the 2nd floor from the casino, but boy is it worth the find. Best sushi in nevada, and i am japanese and from Hawaii.
I really enjoyed the Sushi Kai. The food was great and the prices were extremely reasonable. Ana from Serbia was our waiter and she was too good to be true. Anyway a great time for both of us and definitely will be going back soon.
Stick to the Chinese...much better than the sushi. Salt & Pepper Prawns were good. So is the whole sole fish. The sushi was just ok. The rolls were poor. The nigiri were small.
Food was okay. Presentation very poor. Sashimi sitting on shredded lettuce. Probably much better places in Tahoe for sushi.
We did not stay for dinner. Insanely loud. People bringing groups of children who were screaming as though it was a public pool. Great parenting folks. Pass.
Way too expensive for poor food, not much taste to anything we ordered. Our entire party was not pleased
Try the stir fried sea bass. It's outstanding and a single portion is enough for 4-6 appetites.
The Chinese food was average. The Sushi was very good
The food was not good, and it was expensive. The catapillar roll we ordered had a very thin level of sashimi. The waiter was nice.
