Sushi Hai Ratings and Reviews
Our experience was mediocre. Our server did not do a very good job. She didn't ask us if we wanted anything to drink. She brought our water out late. She forgot our soup. When were we're leaving four servers were just hanging out at the front door blocking the door and did not move over for us to exit the restaurant.
I've been to this restaurant a few times, each was generally a good experience. The food is excellent and I particularly love their expansive sake menu. My waitress was able to make a recommendation based on my likes and dislikes. The service was ok, but could be improved. My wife and I showed up with our 2 year old and had to ask for a child's seat. This should be obvious to offer, so I was slightly annoyed we had to ask. The other mark on the service was that after we had ordered, a couple was seated next to our table and was offered specials, which we were never even offered. Just a few tweaks to the service and attention to detail would make this a great experience.
Honestly, this is the best sushi spot I have found in Denver. The fish is always fresh, the rolls are creative, and the service is exceptional. In my opinion, the chefs at Sushi Hai do an impeccable job honoring the tradition of sushi as an art form. From presentation to flavor, every dish is beautifully and thoughtfully prepared.
I have come back numerous times and have been equally impressed with each visit. Needless to say, I'll certainly be dining here again.
It was our first time visiting Sushi Hai and our lunch was very good and we had a thoroughly enjoyable experience, thanks in large measure to Sabrina, our server who was knowledgeable, attentive and very pleasant. Our nigiri was uniformly tasty and the Sushi HaiLander roll was both unique and especially delicious. Would recommend highly to friends........
Our visit started off on the wrong foot. We arrived a few minutes prior to our reservation set for 5pm. In the past, we have always been seated on the upper level and always seem to get the 2-top located next to the window. It was open and I asked for it but we were told by the hostess that "lunch just ended" and that servers were not yet on the clock. Our only option was the lower level. We were seated and waited approx 20 minutes to receive our first cocktail. The server blamed it on the bartender who was having issues with his girlfriend. A server should never share info such as this. Customers do not want to hear that. Food service was slow and was brought to our table by one of the chefs. Our server actually seemed to be a bit "loaded". Not sure, but she was off and her eyes showed it. This visit was lousy when it came to the personnel. The food was good.
As of today, 10/17/17, I have not been contacted by the manager to discuss. This is very unfortunate.
Even though we've known of SH for years, this was our first visit- first time unagi also. Excellent gyoza- I'm used to the vinegar sauce, but their sweet chili sauce was a nice change. Nice setting, very good food and service. Definitely worth a return, will try the sake flight next time.
The sushi with soft shell crab was not as good as usual. It tasted old or dirty. Some of the rolls were not rolled tight and fell apart :( The monkey brain was awesome as well as the Las Vegas and raging monkey rolls. Might not get the Spider roll again because of the crab.
Good location and decent ambiance. Large menu and variety of options but out of a lot of choices when attempted to order. Mediocre to poor quality of fish and uninspired delivery of rolls and dishes. Would recommend sushi sasa even at a slightly higher price, well worth it.
Food is high quality, both cooked and raw, and has a good deal of variety. The menu is quite extensive, with many choices. The noise level is extremely loud. Don't expect to have a quiet conversation in this place. It's less overwhelming if you head to the back, down the stairs where the ambiance is more classy with carpeting, nice wall coverings and subdued lighting. The front of the establishment is like a cheap diner with no character whatsoever and the noise in that area is almost deafening. The service is spotty. We had very slow service most recently, while it was better on previous visit. Overall, the food is worth the visit.
Great neighborhood find, excellent food and sake selection. Only complaint was running our credit card incorrectly at the end of the night, which caused some headache and extra work on my end to make sure everything is now billed out correctly (not overcharged). But we will be back.
My dinner at Sushi Hai was great. What isn't great is all the annoying e-mails Open Table keeps sending me. I have received approx 5 emails in two days asking for a review. Maybe if a patron doesn't answer the first two, take that as a sign and drop it. Some of us like to show our appreciation of a restaurant by tipping well and returning for dinner. Your annoying, pushy emails are making me not want to return.
Food was good, but the ambiance was not. I was a little hesitant when making reservations because I wasn't sure what the story was with the multi-level seating. I tried to request to not be seated where others were saying wasn't ideal, but it wasn't clear what to request. We ended up all the way on the lowest level of the restaurant in the back corner. It was quiet because it was almost empty at the time, but the ambience was not at all what I'd hoped for. I wasn't super impressed with the ambiance in any part of the restaurant, but if you're looking for a nice date night, it seemed to me like your best bet would be the upper level (which is the ground level). Or at least NOT on the lowest level.
