I enjoyed my time well, it was my best friends birthday and they made it special for her.
Sushi dojo was truly a very intimate dinner experience. The staff was very attentive to the reservation we made and in person. I took my fiancé there for his bday and we LOVE the food! Each sushi piece was truly unique and very tasteful! We would definitely go back. Well done Sushi Dojo!
The best omakase course I've had in New York City. The freshness and quality of fish is unbeatable as well as the price
Really great meal. Place was cute- small, clean, modern, yet traditional. We celebrated my getting a new job. The food was traditional with a twist. It was the perfect place for an intimate, cozy evening to celebrate a great life event. Best part is it was okay for just one person to order omakase versus forcing everyone, so we could actually enjoy and order what we each wanted.
We had to wait 45 minutes after our reservation to be seated - and they wouldn’t let us wait inside. It was freezing and windy outside as well. After finally being sat down the food came out over the course of 2 hours (we barely ordered anything).
We waited a long time to get our order in at the omakase but food was great
Outstanding quality of sushi. Excellent spot on service. Definitely will be back again
The heaters didn't work well outside. The waiter was very nice and tried to help as much as he could but was just overwhelmed. Things started taking a long time which is not great while sitting outside.
Really fantastic experience
The food was exceptional. Can’t wait to go back.
Great food! Not enough heating outside.
Was great! Even though it was so cold out I was very happy to be there!
Truly excellent sushi and service!! I went with my Wife for our one year anniversary and they were so accommodating and thoughtful. The food was simply delightful, likely the best sushi restaurant in NYC. Do call ahead for outdoor dinning, do check the weather or enjoy fantastic take out. Highly Recommend!!
Sushi Dojo has been the best bang for your buck in the city since its opening, but right now it's even more so. While other Japanese restaurants either ceased to exist or rip people off for mediocre food and experience, Sushi Dojo still going strong delivering amazing quality sushi for prepandemic prices. The service is spot on. Thank you for having this amazing experience without Covid-19 surcharge
Not prepared at all for the amount of orders. Staff was over worked. Food took too long. Server and chef were great. Clearly big issues with management adequately staffing.
Sushi was AMAZING!!!
Dojo never disappoints! Fish is fresh and the pieces are always creative . Service is awesome. One of my go to omakases.
Good food, awesome music
I think this is prob just more of a COVID experience.
very yummy sushi! approachable sized pieces! good bang for buck! but ikura was not great
We had their staple 15 pieces of sushi and a handroll omakase indoors. We sat at the sushi counter and were served our sushi piece by piece by the chef. Sushi was extremely fresh and delicious and service was top notch. Amazing experience!!!
Had the 15 piece omakase with 1 hand told for $98. It’s was good sushi. If you eat a lot of omakase I can’t say there was anything really mind blowing or some new flavor profile that I haven’t had before.
Sea Bream, Kanpachi, New Zealand Ocean trout, O toro, wagyu beef with foie gras, california uni, prawn, sea scallop with uni were all outstanding.
A couple pieces were disappointing. Blue fin tuna had strong fish oils on the palate. Arctic char had an off putting texture. Salmon with tomato tempura didn’t work- the tomato was cold an soggy (might have been a casualty of COVID plus outdoor dining).
Overall a good meal. My wife was full and satisfied. I was still hungry after.
great food, terrible service. had a reservation and had to wait 30 min to get a table. wait staff was kind.
A little disappointed. Server was really nice but omakase didn’t live up to expectations. The first round was very good. Then there was a long wait for the second, which was ok but not great. Then another longer wait for the third round where the wagyu beef was overcooked, the botan ebi was dry and seemed partially cooked and the uni was super dried out. The outside dining seemed well lit on on side where a group was taking videos of them eating, and our side lacked any light, not even a fake candle or something. I mentioned it was a birthday on reservation but it was never acknowledged. Lastly, there was a gentleman, who I assume was a dishwasher of sorts, going in and out of the restaurant, watching tv by the restroom not wearing a mask properly and caught him a few times petting dogs outside. Gross. I know these are tough times, but the overall concept didn’t seem to play out well.
I know it’s the time of crisis, but I can’t say we enjoyed our first dining out in a few month. We see their delivery service is busy, and our three courses Omakase took two hours outside in cold while watching them making delivery order inside. Once it comes, the food is ok. Can’t say I didn’t like it but not worth $98 to be honest.
First time tried them for outdoor seating and very happy about it. The patio and the counter outside are awesome and provide nice ambiance. The food is outstanding especially sawara with garlic chili oil. The service is flawless
Wow. This is far and away the most overpriced sushi I have ever eaten. It was good quality, but seriously, the prices are jaw-dropping for what they put on the plate. I'm rooting for all restaurants in this challenging time, but this place is not worth the price. Crazy.
Good quality and tasty, but not really authentic. You can definitely get full from their Omakase
One of the best meals I've ever had in my life. The 15 course omakase is a must; reasonably priced and absolutely flawless.
Love this place
The food was delicious and one of the best omakase meals I've had in the city. The chef was attentive and we felt very well serviced. I would recommend to anyone looking for a great meal
If you want a solid Omakase spot, this is then place to do it. Staff was super attentive and the quality of the fish was incredible. Have already been recommending.
Amazing sushi & loved sitting at the sushi bar. It was pretty expensive though!
It’s too slow though. 15 sushi plus 1 row took me 3 hours.
I've been coming to Sushi Dojo since they opened in 2013. They have changed many chefs and many sushi concepts over their years in business, but always successfully. Their product have become better and better as well as the chefs. Tonight wasn't exception. The food, service and ambiance was exceptional. My bows to the ownership for making it happening through all these years.
Fantastic as always
