Supernova - Novotel Hotel Times Square Ratings and Reviews
I must say the food was very good. I'm not recommending the restaurant because of the service. The waiters acted as if they were doing you a favor. In fact I would describe them as rude. I would rather spend my money at a restaurant that treated you as a appreciated patron.
Thought this would be a nice swanky restaurant but was severely disappointed. It's like a hotel lobby bar. No atmosphere, and a bit cafeteria ish. The website implies its a great trendy place. Ok for a quick snack I suppose, but not if you're looking for a nice evening out. Major disappointment
I wish I could give this place a positive review, but I cannot. It is a good location right at Broadway and 52nd street, with views south over Times Square. We made our reservation on Open Table about an hour before our scheduled time. We were staying in the same hotel, so this was convenient. When we arrived at the restaurant the host told us he had no room. I pointed out we had a reservation, and he said he could not honor it, accusing me of using Open Table to get around their reservation list, and being very argumentative. I was insistent, he was in a huff, but after a short wait he gave us a table. The table service by our waiter was not particularly friendly, but our drinks and food arrived promptly. It was only adequate, not good or great. One of our party ordered the lump crab cake, and it was dry and flavorless. The Caesar salad was good. The short ribs were overcooked, obviously prepared far in advance. For an upscale Times Square NYC restaurant the prices were reasonable, but why bother when the food is barely mediocre.
We booked thru Open Table and were able to receive the time we requested. We even arrived early and were seated right away! I had requested a window seat and we were given the best seat in the house as far as I was concerned! The staff was very polite and gave us ample time to order and eat . The view was amazing! The weather was great 12.2.2017 so we were able to venture outside and took some nice candid shots ! Will def. be back!
I had the lobster rolls, which were delicious. Another had a Caesar salad which had large sliced of anchovies which were unpleasant and very unusual. Another had the steak, which was undercooked. My husband had the burger and he said it was pretty good. Overall the service was poor. Views are great and convenient to theaters.
Service was good, menu is mostly comfort food, didn't have lot's of GF choices, and menu is limited. Although what we had was good, my lobster Mac'n cheese could have had more lobster, my daughter had veggie stew which was very good but she was still hungry after eatting it as the portions were too small. Best thing about this place is the view, go for cocktails and weather permitting sit outside, unfortunely you cannot dine outside. My husband had a burger and my grandaughter had a pasta dish, they both liked theirs as well.
Getting an early dinner before a show. Had the perfect table. My friend wanted a metropolitan. Waiter came with a manhattan!! They did not know what it was. Service was a bit slow. Waited for the rights drinks. Food was really good. Then after dinner we had a drink outside
On arrival my name was not on the list for reservations even though I had a confirmation number on hand. They were able to seat us as it wasn't busy, for which we appreciate. It took unusually long to receive drinks especially when it wasn't busy. The martini I received came in a plastic martini glass...when I inquired about it, the reason was because they use plastic on the outside patio. Understandably, however we were in the dining room.
The food was alright, it wasn't overpriced so it was worth what we got. When asked if everything was alright, we stated it was "okay." That was good enough for him I guess.
The waiter seemed to be dissatisfied with his job, which led to having no interest in his guests.
No offer of secondary drinks were made.
The only moment there was motivation in him was when it was time to pay the bill.
Overall it was just disappointing, especially because it was our last night in NY.
My husband and I was celebrating our 1 year wedding anniversary in NY. I was searching for a restaurant that would be the ideal restaurant for this occasion. This restaurant exceeded all of our expectations. We'll definitely be dining there again when we return to NY.
The main reason we chose this restaurant was for the view of Timed Square. In that light, the restaurant hit the mark. The view of Times Square from a booth or table in Supernova is fabulous! However, the positives end there. Service is extremely and notably, slow. We experienced this as did the two tables immediately next to us; we know this because patrons at both tables loudly complained about the pace of the service. Additionally, the food wasn't great; it wasn't bad, just very run of the mill (e.x. I had hard, crunchy carrots served with what tasted like very minimally, if at all, seasoned short ribs and ny husband had a very tough NY strip with mashed potatoes that were supposed to be broccoli).
With that said, this restaurant's value is in its location and view. Without the Times Square view, this place would be synonymous with Denny's or IHOP.
The view from the restaurant is fantastic and is the best feature. The wait staff was pleasant and prompt. The food is good, but nothing special by a NYC connoisseur perspective. Very convenient location in the theatre district. Overall, my husband and I were satisfied.
A wonderful and little-known spot for viewing all of Times Square in the day or at night. This restaurant is NOT on anyone's top 10 rooftop bar list which is wonderful as hardly anyone goes there. You can enjoy yourselves and not feel crowded. The Ceasar Salad is the best.
Highly recommended. Especially if you want to impress someone!
Supernova is great place to have a relaxing dinner and drinks before a Broadway/Radiocity show. The restaurant is a couple stories up from street level with huge windows and a large outdoor space so you can enjoy the views of Time Square without the hustle and bustle and traffic of the street. The food was pretty good as well as we shared a bunch of appetizers which were tasty and reasonably priced. Overall, I would definitely recommend Supernova for its casual atmosphere, reasonable prices, view, and location.
My husband and I went to SuperNova for our wedding anniversary before seeing the broadway show "Wicked". The convenience of the restaurant being around the block from Gershwin Theater, as well as in the midst of Time Square, made it worth our trip to the city. We made reservations ahead of time! The ambiance is modern, yet sophisticated, ranging from semi-casual to semi- formal. The greeters and receptionists were friendly and helpful when we entered from the elevator into the lobby area of the restaurant. You can clearly see that the restaurant's decor is an extension to the hotel portion of the business. The glass windows make this restaurant a site for great views of Times Square. In fact, my husband and I were looking at the New Years Eve ball suspended from the tower in Times Square. The energy was great, but quiet for us since we were there in the afternoon between 5 and 7 on a Monday. I am sure there is more of a crowd on a Thursday through Saturday night. The crowd noise was minimal because it was a Monday early evening. The most we saw was a corporate social event on the terrace in the lounge area outside, and people ranging from couples to a larger family in the area where we were seated. The bar in the center of the restaurant was chick looking, but not so busy either.
The food was very tasty. I had crab cakes as an appetizer, salmon, mashed potatoes and salad as the main entree, and cheesecake for dessert. My husband had the angus burger, and fries. Everything we had was delicious, and prepared well. The waiters we had were very attentive, friendly, and didn't seem to rush us through a meal. I loved everything about this restaurant. I am not a foody, but I do like good food, desserts, and a great ambiance. The only thing I would say about this restaurant, is the dessert and wine menu could offer more selections; other than that, this is our place from now!
Happy in Danbury!
Great views of Times Square, good food, helpful staff and reasonable prices, particularly for this often overpriced neighborhood. A good place for a kid (we were there with one), since the restaurant is spacious and has an outdoor terrace. My second time there, and I'd gladly go again. Some commenters were apparently there on nights when the parts of the restaurant with the best views were closed off for a private party. This wasn't the case when I was there.
