Superior Seafood Ratings and Reviews
First time to eat at Superior Seafood as we were visiting and it was recommended. So glad we followed up on the recommendation. Drinks were great, egg plant/egg brunch choice was very tasty, oysters fresh, briny and cold, and flourless choc. cake really good. Our server, Alexander, was helpful and attentive without being overbearing. Great neighborhood place to have a very good meal.
We are from out of town, and went for my daughter's 18th birthday. It was about a half mile from our hotel, so was nice to be able to walk and have a good meal. My daughter had the filet mignon, because she doesn't eat seafood. You should have seen her face light up when she tasted it. I thought it was really good, too. I had shrimp and grits, which were also quite good, but didn't quite match her steak. She also really enjoyed the twice-baked potato. I enjoyed the salad. They were also very nice about it being her birthday. The creme brulée was on the house as a special treat, and it came with a large sparkler that made her feel really special. All in all, it was really sweet. Our server was very nice, and seemed a little shy, but since my daughter is, also, this made her happy, too.
Several locals recommended this restaurant. Wow, gorgeous restaurant, terrible food - compared t thereat of New Orleans. My suggestions: 1) Get better bread. 2) Need more experienced servers who know how to handle kitchen issues. 3) Speed it up. My 2 cents.
This restaurant is a favorite, but when we went on New Year's Day, everything seemed off. We had to wait awhile for our reservation (it was a table for 2, so it was odd). The service was great but the food was DEFINITELY not as good as it normally is. It wasn't bad, but it just wasn't as good as it normally is.
We realized that the restaurant was packed but the service was awful. We had to ask for EVERYTHING.
Salt? Sweetener for tea? Silverware? Drinks took forever. My crawfish cornbread was so burnt on the bottom that I had to scrape half of it away.
Most of our entrees were cold. Sides were cold and were replaced with warmer food. Notice I said warmer, not hot.
The icing on the cake was when the server our previously requested bread and butter as we were paying the check.
Had a wonderful meal here this New Year's eve. The place was packed, and Ivy Rose managed to give us prompt and attentive service. The food was wonderful, especially the scallops, and shrimp brochettes. My only critiques were that the hostess was curt, and not very accommodating, and the wine selection is incredibly limited. Overall, it was a surprisingly (due to the crazy holiday crowd) lovely meal, with excellent food and service. Gotta love those happy hour oysters!
Been there twice before and had the Shrimp and grits (18 mos ago). The were completely different and I was so excited to go and order that! They were bland and boring. I asked the waitress and she said several chefs have come and gone since then. When you get a good recipe that's tide and true you think you'd KEEP it!! Great atmosphere so will go back again but will definitely get something else.
It was the loudest restaurant I have ever experienced, service was poor, took forever to be served our salad and then when we did get it, the entree was served around 2 minutes later. The restaurant was slammed. The bar and bar service was very good and the live music was outstanding.
We had new year's eve dinner with family and I was so happy that I picked Superior Seafood. We all enjoyed our food and service. Only thing that I didn't enjoy was noise. Other than that food was hot when it was served and delicious. I definitely will go there again. Food was better than any other restaurants in french qtr.
Raw oysters at happy hour were awesome. Angels on horseback oysters were the highlight of the meal. Gumbo was great: spicy but not too much heat. Fried green tomatoes were too firm, but otherwise everything was excellent. Our server Hannah was fantastic: very friendly, attentive, and quick.
OMG...I have been coming to NOLA for years and rarely leave the FQ but took a chance. Boys and Girls save ur money and dine at this place. The food is awesome..the prices are very reasonable..the oysters are incredible and the place is gorgeous. The guys and gals are on the ball and u never have to wait long for anything. The menu is 5 star and the food..well it is better than the Commanders Palace and anywhere I have eaten in or near the Quarter. If you pass it by you will missed the best eatery in NO LA. oh and they have valet parking after 4 and no one is panhandling you for a buck. LOVE THIS PLACE!!!
We had a dinner date here.
We ordered a bottle of wine, a dozen oysters, Crawfish corn bread, and a grilled fresh catch.
Food was great - they were all fresh and well cooked.
Our waiter was attentive to us and provided a great service as well.
They also have a bar that you can enjoy a couple of drinks while waiting for your table.
I have never written a review for a restaurant and I really didn't want to write one for this place...especially since we chose to eat here on Christmas Eve. Everything started out great! We had a reservation and we were seated immediately. We ordered a bottle of wine and some beverages for the kids. We also ordered some good apps. We got raw oysters, char-grilled oysters and spinach/artichoke dip. Both oysters arrived quickly and they were terrific! This is where things started to go a little lopsided. The spinach/artichoke dip never made it to the table while we had the oysters. So we asked about it and the server said that he forgot. Which happens and we were ok with that. He put the order in and it came out quickly. At this point, we ordered our dinner. The food arrived at our table about 30 minutes later. Which we thought was ok, since it was busy night. When the food came, most of the dishes were good. But 2 of the 5 of us couldn't eat, since we didn't have forks, but we did ask for them when the food arrived. After 5 - 10 minutes, I just got up and got some from another table and we had luke warm food. Now to my order of the Pasta Del Mer. The pasta was completely dry and hard. There was no sauce on the pasta. All the seafood was also hard and dry. It must have been under a heat lamp for a long time. I did tell the waiter about my food and they took it away. The manager came to the table after the family finished their food and asked if I wanted anything else. But since everyone was done, I said no thank you. The kids still wanted dessert, so we ordered two desserts. The restaurant then offered a free dessert (3rd dessert) to make up for the evening. Sorry, but free dessert doesn't help at this point. I wished for the best and got mediocre. After spending over $350 for this meal, I truly thought the restaurant, manager and server would've handled things better.
Spent Christmas Eve there with my family. Great food. Excellent service by Claire with great recommendations. I had the Pecan-Crusted Drum and it was fantastic. The Crawfish and Crab Bisque was delicious as well. My family enjoyed everything we had. Only complaint is that the noise level is very loud with live music. It was hard to hear at times, but a great Garden District spot.
I went with a group of 4 for Christmas Eve, it was packed, but our server still gave us more than enough attention and also personal referrals. The food was delicious! You can really be casual or dress up for this restaurant, only thing was the noise level was very loud and if our server was across the table I couldn’t hear him, but I’d still consider it for a nice date. It wasn’t my first time but I’ll still be going back.
