The Sunset Terrace is a premier Asheville landmark dining option, but on my latest trip the wait staff was somewhat offputtingly rude, and brief. Though he was not busy.
In addition, the saddle of lamb was left poorly trimmed so that the knife provided had to be impolitely and roughly used to saw through the meat and gristle. The filet minon was well prepared though to an uneven temperature.
Waiter did not know the single malt scotch selections. All in all the ambience was wonderful and I would go again, but I was disappointed in the food and service.
Well worth it. Incedible service, outstanding food, and tremendouse view. We had lunch there for our anniversary and wanted to come back that evening for an after dinner cocktail and enjoy the night view. Highly reccommended...
Excellent steak and lobster Mac and cheese
View is gorgeous! The weather was cooler, but it was very pleasant! They have some heat on the covered portion of the restaurant. I had a crab cake sandwich that was outstanding! Food is slightly high priced, but to be expected for a venue like this. Would definitely go back again!
We sat out on the patio overlooking the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. Food, service and atmosphere were all spectacular!
Amazing view, great (but limited menu) food, superior and professional service, picture perfect, sunny & mild fall day, effective radiant heaters . . . . what's not to like about the Sunset Terrace.
The terrace has a gorgeous view with a delicious meal. Everything tasted fabulous, our waitress was very knowledgeable of the menu and helpful with recommendations. We made reservations to celebrate 2 anniversaries and truly enjoyed it.
Always enjoy a trip to Asheville when it includes a meal at Sunset Terrace! Food, service, ambience...it has everything!
Had two fantastic salads for lunch. Also the hot chocolate with Baileys is a must for cold days looking out over the mountain range.
The views are stunning and one of the best steaks I've ever had. It's pricey but in line with as expected for this type of dining experience.
Service on this property is always great. The Sunset Terrace view is amazing!
I️ went with 2 friends on a girls’ trip to Asheville, and we came here one evening for appetizers and drinks and to watch the sunset. It was amazing!! The food and drink was outstanding, our server even offered to take pictures for us, and the sunset was fabulous! It was perfect!
The views cannot be beat! Our server was delightful and helpful since it was our first visit.
Fantastic food, service and location. Will definitely go back often.
We had lobster Cobb salad which & the lobster roll was equally dry tasteless.
The service was excellant. The bill for 4 @ lunch was 160.00. 2 COBB SALADS 1 LOBSTER ROLL
1 SALMON 2 BOTTLES OF WATER LINES 1 RASPBERRY SORBET 1 COFFEE. IT IS SAD THAT THIS
TOURIST TRAP IS EXACTLY THAT. VENUE SUNSET TERRACE. The saving grace was the view &
Our family lunch at the Sunset Terrace was to celebrate my sister-in-law's special birthday. The staff did everything they could to make this day outstanding. The food was terrific and sitting on the terrace, even though it was chilly, was wonderful. The wait staff even brought us blankets to stay warm. Highly recommend this venue for visitors to the Asheville and locals, like me!
My husband and I celebrated our 18 year anniversary at Sunset Tavern. View was beautiful, wonderful weather for dining outside! Extensive wine list. Had the seafood tower for two and split a caesar. We were too full for desert. Could have done without the lobster on the tower. It was flavorless! Had the desert wine flight which was enjoyable if you like sweet wine! I would go back and try something else.
Go for the view but not the food. The atmosphere is corporate and impersonal. Quite overpriced for moderate hotel-style food. You can tell it came from a conveyor belt kind of kitchen.
We met friends for lunch on Sunday afternoon. This was my first time there, and I'm looking forward to the next time. The food was great and the view was awesome. The weather was perfect. Had a wonderful time.
Celebrating our 39th Anniversary we wanted a special place and the Sunset Terrace delivered all the way around. From the time we entered into the dining area everyone was attentive and spot on.
We were met at our table by Tiffanie as she was going to be waiting on us this evening and she knocked it out of the park with her suggestions and very friendly tone, leaving us alone but casually checking back to see if we were good with everything.
For dinner this evening we started off with the Beef tartar (OMG), followed with Scallops and Filet. Both were perfectly done and Filet melted in mouth.
We highly recommend this place as a place to go for something special as you will not be disappointed one bit.
Definitely a must if you are visiting the Asheville area. Amazing venue with a lot to look at. Live music in the lobby. Bustling and a little loud. Tables on terrace were very close together.
We ordered steaks after they came highly recommended but both mine and my husband's were overcooked. The waiter immediately took them back but the two we received were cooked the same.
We had cocktails and watched college football in the Edison Room prior to our dinner on the Sunset Terrace and thoroughly enjoyed that time.
Great food, view and service!! Wife always wanted to see the Grove Park and I surprised her for lunch. Next time she wants to visit the spa.
Over crowded, over rated and over priced for what you get. Left hungry and disappointed the way you are squeezed in between people is rediculous, not an intimate dining experience at all. You listen to everyone's conversations. Also extremely dark cannot read the menu for anything. The fried green tomato salad was decent but I was told the lobster tail was "almost" 7 oz. it was 5 oz. at best. My husband ordered a steak over cooked and not a good cut of meat at all. If you are staying at Omni GPI. There are better options for dining in the hotel. But even better in the city of Asheville.
Service was not good. Crab cake taste like a giant lemon and had to send it back for hamburger. Took another 20 mins for the hamburger and never asked if they could get me a drink while I wait or atleast leave the fries. Ps: I usually like food wherever I go and almost never send something back. The burger was very good!!!
The view is fantastic. The Lobster Cobb salad was huge and worth the price. The Beet salad was the best my partner has ever had. Service was very good but the wait for the bar drinks was long. Valet parking at $15 seemed high. Overall dinning experience was outstanding.
Day trip to Ashville for lunch at Grove Park Inn was awesome. Fall colors were close to peak and we had a perfect table to enjoy the view. Crab cake fabulous as always. My sister in law had Baked Alaska flamed at the table. Our servers were pleasant and helpful We are planning another trip in December for lunch and to see the holiday decorations and gingerbread houses.
Great views, food was delicious, service was spectacular- pricey
The view on a fall afternoon of perfect weather and the magnificence of the inn are splendidly special. Service is good but valet/parking provided free would be exceptional for handicapped folks coming for a meal experience only. The food is nothing special--especially at the cost, but it is a memorable time that keeps me coming back. Please fix unmanageable door issues for those in wheelchairs--especially bathroom entering, exiting and room enough inside. It is rather difficult to maneuver almost everywhere but disappointing in this beautiful place .
What great service, food and views!! Very special 40th Anniversary- made more special by the great staff at The Omni Grove Park Inn!
Perhaps the best steaks we have EVER eaten....yes....that good.
Great service from Michael. His suggestion were great and meal was wonderful! Thanks!
Great views, service, and food. It’s pricey but you have to take the location into consideration.
Good for everything! Love this place! Excellent food, service, View, ambience! A total experience like no other!
Our server, John, was wonderful. He was just the right amount of attentive and had a great personality. He made the whole experience even better.
We had a wonderful dinner. Sat next to some fun couples and enjoyed sharing our travels.
Wait staff was attentive; and the food absolutely delicious. My husband had the duck, and I chose the filet. Very happy!
The food was amazing here with so many options! I had the lobster Cobb salad and was surprised by the generous portion of lobster that was in the salad! That is not normal from my experience. My husband loved his trout meal - all was very fresh. Oh, and do not pass up on the warm biscuits they serve first - best biscuits I have ever eaten!
The view is everything. Great cocktails, the seafood tower was surprisingly good in comparison to our normal outings in NYC, & it was a great atmosphere. It was all a perfect evening except for our naked yellow fin tuna. When I say naked, I mean an unseasoned seared piece of tuna is the entree. No garnish, salt or pepper, or anything. Just a white plate with a hunk of fish. It was cooked to our asking But it was shocking to say the least, we thought someone was pulling a joke.....needless to say we ate it with a smile and our waitress brought out a delicious sauce after seeing our shocked faces. Why not just pair the sauce with the dish in the first place? For the price/environment/etc we expected better. We ordered a side which was also good, but the naked tuna was the joke of the night. We still enjoyed our meal, but will probably go for steak next time ;)
Lovely place to dine and the view is amazing! Our steaks were delicious and cooked to perfection.
