Sunnyside Ratings and Reviews
This is a Lake Tahoe must visit. Lakeside charm and views compete with excellent tasting and diverse food choices from an off season menu! I was surprised and very much satisfied. The staff, from the front desk, the wait staff, and the manager who stopped by, really made our little party feel most welcome.
New fall menu had issues. Gnocchi with duck confit just ok. Duck was dry as well as gnocchi. Hubby’s chicken with stuffing was just ok too. Stuffing very doughy. Chicken was moist. Butter lettuce apple salad was good idea, but over drenched in very acidic dressing.
we spent time in the bar, next to the fireplace. The cocktails and service were really good. We ate dinner in the restaurant. We had a great view, next to the windows. The food and service were really good. Compared to other more expensive restaurants in the area, this place was great.
Beautiful sunset in a classic location. They were really busy with a large party that night so the service was a little slow and the food was not as good as other times. Not hot probably had been sitting for a while. I will go back. One of my Tahoe favorites.
Nice and friendly restaurant that keeps long term, good servers, which is hard to do in Tahoe. Always enjoy the experienced folks who work here. Food is fresh with a good mix of choices. Even when crowded, Sunnyside does their best to keep things moving. The chef keeps the menu current, while holding onto a few tried and true items that customers still want.
It was the last night of our vacation in Lake Tahoe, we weren't sure we would be seated at the last minute but Sunnyside accommodated us better then my expectations. We had a gracious young woman, Kate, as our waitress, she was very personal yet not foreboding. The menu was not extensive but it had something for each of us, from my 6 year old grandson, teenage granddaughter and finicky palate daughter. The food came in a timely manner and it was cooked to perfection. I keep saying, "Sunnyside is well running restaurant," I was very impressed and I left completely satisfied.
Food was over cooked, cold and pricey. I ordered a beer and never received it. My friend and My wife ordered coffee after dinner and received coffee with grounds in it and stained coffee on the outside of the cup. We are locals... Our tab for 4 dinners, one salad, one soup, two wines and one cocktail was $220 without tip. Far too much for the bad quality of food and service. Too many good restaurants in Lake Tahoe to ever visit this establishment again or any of their other restaurants
LOVE LOVE LOVE! Our party of 8 arrived on time Friday at 6:15. Had a fabulous round table on the patio. The 3 kids in our party had cheeseburgers, the adults had: the halibut, the salmon, the filet (2), and the ahi. NOT A MORSEL left on our plates. Everything was that good. Cocktails were yummy. Great service, great atmosphere. The owner or manager went around the tables asking how everything was, which I always appreciate. Because if something wasn't OK, they would have made it right. It was a perfect dinner and we can't wait to go back.
We were there for our friend's bachelorette party and Kate took AMAZING care of us! The food was delicious, the wine was perfect and the service from everyone was wonderful. Thank you for the great time, Kate. I will be recommending Sunnyside to all of my friends headed to Lake Tahoe.
We found Sunnyside 8 years ago when we were in Tahoe for a family vacation. It's been 8 long years since we have been back to Tahoe, but one of the places everyone in our family wanted to make sure to re-visit was this adorable, quaint restaurant situated so beautifully on the water. The food was very good. I have to state that I would have to give a few 'points' off for service because I never received my main dish, even after reminding our waiter, but it was ok....we all were sharing dishes. Everything was really delicious...probably best that mine didn't arrive, we had plenty of food...and a great wine list! The wait staff was super friendly (but very busy). So fun! I just hope we are back sooner next time.
Have been here several times and it is always excellent. This time there was an unexpected storm that came through. Closed the outdoor patio, which is 1/3 of the restaurant. Despite that setback our reservation for 8:00 resulted in 8:10 seating. That was impressive. Food was great, as always. Service was not excellent, but I think it was the craziness of accommodating everyone inside. I will definitely be back.
We have been coming up to Tahoe for many years and wanted to try Sunnyside. Everything was EXCELLENT! Kate was our waitress and she took her time to explain the food and wine. We were never rushed. We started with the calamari. Then we had the Halibut and Filet Mignon. Everything was cooked to perfection and the sides excellent. My husband had the lobster Mac and cheese as a side and that was a meal by itself! We took the chocolate miso peach cake home for dessert and that didn't last long after the kids got a hold of it. Looked yummy but I didn't get a taste. Recommend this restaurant HIGHLY. Make reservations. Very convenient and complied with request for seating on deck. We will be back!
This is one of the best lakeside restaurants on the west shore. The view and the ambiance cannot be beat. By all means start with an order of fried zucchini, they're great. Two of us had Caesar salads which were good; the other two had beet salads which were disappointing to say the least. I was expecting a salad composed primarily of beets, what I got was a green salad with some pieces of beet mixed in. The salmon entrees were quite good, but the elk was perhaps the best I've ever had. Dessert servings were extremely generous, the strawberry shortcake could easily serve two and the hula pie was big enough for four. Highly recommended.
We made a reservation with open table for 6:45 PM. We called and advised that we would be 5-10 minutes late. We arrived at 6:50 PM. We were not seated until 7:25 PM by a hostess that was curt and snotty. In the Open Table reservation, we requested a view of the lake since we were celebrating a 31st wedding anniversary. We were seated inside in spite of the large number of tables outside and were seated up against a pillar that nearly prevented a view of the lake. in spite of this nonsense, our server Katie was terrific and the food was delicious.
Lovely spot and a great menu. Very crowded and kid/ family friendly. We did wait well passed or reservation to be seated. The server was excellent and shared his preferences for both entrees and desserts. Gorgeous views and sunset. Fun spot!
