Booked the restaurant for a special occasion - birthday for my traveling companion. Service was outstanding. Hostess was especially engaging and welcoming. Got there early mid-week towards the end of the ski season, so restaurant was quiet, but would have been good with a group any time. Setting and view was spectacular. Food was very good and creative. Was given a complimentary dessert for birthday celebration - such a nice gesture. Overall, a great experience and we will be back.
Best food I’ve ever eaten. Great service! Loved it.
Wonderful in the summer when you can eat outside on the shore of Lake Tahoe. It was also a very pleasant dinner venue this past week (April) with a large family and tired children. The view is unmatched. Food and wine were well above the usual Tahoe average--fresh ingredients, old standards plus interesting contemporary dishes on the menu. Restaurant was moderately noisy in April. In summer it's much more busy.
Sitting by the window overlooking Lake Tahoe while eating fabulous food should be on everyone’s bucket list! The restaurant’s ambiance is incredible. The redwood interior is very calming and comforting. The food selection was diverse, and very good. There was no rush to get you in and out. We enjoyed the evening until we were ready to go. Highly recommend the experience.
We had a wonderful experience eating at Sunnyside for our Easter dinner. When our friends asked to join us last minute the host staff was super accommodating and changed our reservation from a table of four to a table of ten! The service was excellent and the food delicious. And of course you can't beat the view! Highly recommend.
Sunnyside never disappoints. Even though they are literally on Lake Tahoe's West Shore with a killer view, they don't take it for granted. They have a diverse menu for most any appetite. Their staff are very attentive and knowledgeable. It's a lively scene for all ages. The deck is not to be missed in the summer.
The view of the lake is incredible! The service is always friendly! And don’t forget the Hula Pie for dessert!
Fulfilling a Christmas gift, my wife booked a room at Sunnyside and we had dinner in the restaurant. Having been to Sunnyside several times in the past, it’s a favorite place. The restaurant is always great.
We dined at Sunnyside after a day of skiing. It’s a few minutes down the road from the center of town but well worth the drive. It’s a popular place so parking was tight. The restaurant is on the lake with a near 180 degree view of the lake and mountains across the lake. It’s a perfect spot to watch the sunset, and changing colors of the mountains as the evening sun changes the snowy peaks from white to pink, against a purple sky.
Fried zucchini sticks are a must! We loved them. They have a kids menu so my son was happy. My wife enjoyed the rainbow trout special, it was perfect. I had the ny strip steak which was very tasty and cooked to a perfect medium heat.
We enjoyed Sunnyside!
Had a great dinner. The Elk was excellent. Always start with zucchini sticks and finish off with Hula pie - yummy.
This was one of the best dining experiences that we have ever had. The service was exemplary and the food was out of this world. Two in our group ordered the hanger steak, one ordered the seafood bowl, one ordered the salmon rice bowl, one ordered the New York Strip Steak special, and lastly, I ordered the Elk. Everything was amazing. I would 100% recommend this place to anyone looking for an excellent dinner in a restaurant with an excellent vibe.
Restaurant was great. The service was wonderful and food was delicious. We went to the bar area after for some drinks and had to keep calling over the waitress to help us, which was unsatisfactory.
Nice varied menu. Good service. Fantastic view. Always a treat
Awesome, great view, food and service
The ribs and salmon bowl were outstanding. We had a great time!
It is winter and we dined inside. The noise level was a little high. We had the abalone/ scallop dish. It was breaded, we didn’t realize that. It was tasty, but not over the top. Wine selection is a little pricey, but most of Tahoe is overpriced in that area. We enjoy eating at this restaurant in the summer since it is right on the Lake. We will return.
Food was excellent and our waiter was also great, very friendly and attentive to our needs. We had a nice booth, could still see the lake. Overall a great experience.
Great food and good service. The elk was fantastic as was the Salmon.
Went here for my daughters birthday. It’s a little pricey but food was good. It was quiet on. Monday night and the dining room was a little cold. Good food choices for gluten free but not so much for vegetarian or vegan.
Sunnyside was really great at accommodate our party of 4 adults and 2 toddlers. We never felt rushed to leave, the food was great, and the staff was very friendly. I'd definitely come back.
We enjoyed a nice birthday dinner here. It was dark so couldn’t see the lake this time but I bet it’s a great view when it’s light out. Waiter was very friendly and staff were warm and attentive. Seafood chowder was wonderful.
The restaurant was very nice and the food was outstanding. The staff was exceptional and was willing to do whatever it took to make the experience exceptional.
We've been coming to Sunnyside for 15 years. The food has always been nicely prepared. Although as much as I like green day, not so much while out for a nice dinner.
Better in summer than winter
It was a very busy night so I think that the menu changed to reflect more casual and easy to prep food. Not very creative with the menu items in the dining room (burger, chicken sandwich, steak & potato). I asked if the crab in the sliders was fresh and was told that it is from a can...why even put that on the menu if you're using canned crab (with a high price)? Prawns with prosciutto was a nice start and so were the ribs. Hula Pie for dessert is always a nice way to end the evening.
It was lovely. We were meeting future in-laws for the first time and at the holiday season. The restaurant reflected a warm, elegant but not stuffy environment for everyone to get to know each other. It was perfect. I asked for a window/lakeside table and even changed my reservation from 6 to 7 people. When we arrived...it was perfect. From Santa Cruz CA. It is my go to place for a fabulous evening in Tahoe! Thanks!
Great food and service. Good for all occasions. Highly recommend for visitors to the lake
As usual, Sunnyside was wonderful. Beautiful views and great food mix for a nice evening. The seasonal menu was interesting and the elk was outstanding. The dining room was unusually sparse, but the bar was lively. I was told by a local that the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas is a slow time in Tahoe City. If you get a chance, stay at the Lodge; the rooms are cozy and the views are incrdeible.
Good, everyday, casual spot. Food can be hit or miss, but if you stick with the basics, it’s fine. Service is always great. Can’t beat the awesome view in this cozy, old school place.
Our waiter, Kevin , was perfect. Expertly taking care of a fussy (elderly) father. Dinner was absolutely delicious, nice choices on the wine list and great local beer. Loved the take home turkey sandwiches.
Sunnyside is always a good choice when on the west shore of Lake Tahoe. Good food and wine list. Service was great.
This is a Lake Tahoe must visit. Lakeside charm and views compete with excellent tasting and diverse food choices from an off season menu! I was surprised and very much satisfied. The staff, from the front desk, the wait staff, and the manager who stopped by, really made our little party feel most welcome.
Excellent location on the lake. Great view, good service, outstanding food.
New fall menu had issues. Gnocchi with duck confit just ok. Duck was dry as well as gnocchi. Hubby’s chicken with stuffing was just ok too. Stuffing very doughy. Chicken was moist. Butter lettuce apple salad was good idea, but over drenched in very acidic dressing.
we spent time in the bar, next to the fireplace. The cocktails and service were really good. We ate dinner in the restaurant. We had a great view, next to the windows. The food and service were really good. Compared to other more expensive restaurants in the area, this place was great.
One of our favorite go to places in Tahoe! Great food, drinks and a room with a view
Love this place, always come here when in Tahoe. Always fun in the summer and winter. Friendly staff
Although server was trying and apologetic, kitchen was amazingly slow. Took forever to get our food. Parking is also challenging. We were seated on time for our 6:30 reservation, but did not get our dinner until after 8!!! Unacceptable.
Beautiful sunset in a classic location. They were really busy with a large party that night so the service was a little slow and the food was not as good as other times. Not hot probably had been sitting for a while. I will go back. One of my Tahoe favorites.
