My family and I celebrated my birthday. The hostess did read my request and was kind enough to give us a table by the water which I appreciate. Our server, Forest, was very kind and helpful and helped us with deciding the best drinks. Their Mai Tais are amazing and I 100% recommended. Their shots are larger than your regular shot glasses so it’s worth the money, and they weren’t even that expensive. Forest was kind enough to bring me a slice of cake to celebrate my birthday, which was SO delicious my whole family couldn’t get enough of it. This was our first time at Lake Tahoe and I’m so happy that I celebrated my birthday at Sunnyside. I will definitely return back. Thank you Forest for making our experience a great one!

Dinner menu is not worth the price. We had a great dinner there 8 years or so ago but the quality is downhill. Execution on the dinner entrees resembles the quick turn lunch menu/experience now, which is great considering location and energy during the day. Also we ordered fried Brie, they served us some kind of blue cheese and tried to tell us it was Brie. Save your money from the dinner entrees, have a drink and enjoy the view.

Fried zucchini sticks were excellent! But the sesame salmon rice bowl and pistachio crusted halibut were nicely cooked but just mediocre in flavor. The view from the deck is wonderful and service was great.

Sunnyside has been a favorite of mine since 1974! I keep coming back and love that the menu is always consistent with my favorite items and the service is top notch along with the excellence in meal taste and freshness. Don't ever change, please!

The scallop appetizer was a mess. I ordered it as an entrée, to come out with the rest of the entrees. I cam out 10 minutes early. The scallops had not been cleaned, and the muscles were left on. The sauce was broken, and the arugula wilted. The crispy polenta patty was dry, and inedible. Place was busy, and service was incredibly slow. I've been here any times, this was an anomaly, but very disappointing.

It is the best waterfront deck with full service on the lake. Lots of coming and going boating activities, great views of the Eastern shore, boats on the lake, the air is clear. Service is young but well trained and chatty, perhaps with the exception of the reception desk. There is little welcoming or enthusiasm there. Food and drink is expensive but expected to be, well presented but not great on flavor.

We got married there 15 years ago and loved it. Went back for dinner on our anniversary. Showed up with reservation, host stated the only table they had was next to the band playing. ( good band but super loud) I told it was our anniversary and wanted a quiet table, he was very unhelpful said you can go wait list for another table?? 5 minutes go by and another hostess and said we can be seated outside away from band, we didn’t have any other options. Super loud outside, took about 15 minutes to get drinks, entrees came out before apps. Creepy people next our table were smoking ( illegal in CA) Food was ok, Only positive part was our server Kelly. She helped us move to a nice table inside and comp our drinks. Vibe was more of a party night, definitely not a place for nice dinner. Maybe just came on a bad night for our anniversary.

There was a rock band playing and they were extremely loud-people even had ear plugs in and several tables got up and left. We were initially seated right in front of the band and were moved to a table a little further back but still very loud music. It was hard to visit with our table guests without almost yelling. Food was mediocre at best. The view of the lake was amazing and our server was great… that is about the only things we would say were positive.

We sat on the back deck and listened to live music which was very enjoyable and it was a beautiful evening to boot. Our drinks were served quickly and we ordered dinner. One member of our party ordered an appetizer and two of us ordered salads. The appetizer came out quickly. The salads were quite a bit later followed almost immediately by our main course. There wasn’t room on the table for all the dishes. The meal was good and nicely presented. We ordered hula pie. It came out with no whipping cream and nuts. Our waiter, who was very nonchalant the whole evening, complained about the 16 year old kitchen workers (of course he was the one who served them to us) and when he brought out the bill he also explained that there were a bunch of workers in the kitchen who didn’t speak much English which was why things didn’t work well. His words were, “that’s the way we roll here.” It was not a great experience which was disappointing especially since there was a fundraiser going for the folks on Maui.

Used to be a staple but the value has been declining and has now hit rock bottom. Staff don’t seem to care any more. It was dirty, food was about the same as other places for a third of the cost. Plastic cups and plates versus the usual glassware and ceramic. Moody’s in Truckee is a better value overall.

The menu is so limited and disappointing. Sadly, It’s gone down hill. We ordered 4 dishes and 2 beers. 2 Appetizers, 1 salad and 1 fish tacos. Only 1 dish was good. The other 3 dishes were 2 star. Ordering bread was not an option. I said I would pay for the bread but we were told no. 😟 We did not want greasy fries nor deep fried zucchini sticks. So we left Sunnyside restaurant hungry. The total bill for 2 people was $121.16 including the tip. Suggestion: Hire a local bakery to provide fresh baked bread. Get the Fish sandwich back on the menu and more salad offerings.

We have been coming for 20 years and the last 3 years, things seem to be sliding downhill. The first thing you see when entering is a filthy carpet, the place needs to be deep cleaned top to bottom. I ordered scallops, stampers put white fish, same great views. Hostesses no longer wear dresses.

As always, the view can't be beat and sitting on that deck is it's own kind of zen. That said, visists in years past were better in terms of food and service. Portions seem to have shrunk and were especially small given the hike in price. No specials and the regular menu is lacking depth...fish tacos, a burger or a 50$ steak or $40 small piece of fish. Would love to see some more seasonal offerings, entree salad options, maybe a mid-priced pasta or vegitarian friendly dish. Service was a bit too leisurely - obviously not the fault of the waittress. She let us know many times that she was working so many tables that she couldn't take any time at ours...- They seemed short staffed as are many busy places these days. Overall a pleasant enough evening with a view to envy, but other good places on North and West Shore to check out next time. Would possibley go back for lunch or happy hour and the view - just not worth it for dinner.

As the other reviews, the view is amazing, and hard to find this type of location. Too bad the management isn't taking full advantage of this and finds a way to make this restaurant spectacular. When service, atmosphere, and quality of food is aligned, these guys will have a goldmine.

Dining at Sunnyside is always on our agenda when we are in Tahoe. The lakeside deck is the place to be on a sunny afternoon, or peaceful evening to watch the boats and sip a cocktail. Fantastic sunsets right from your table!!

Sunnyside has a beautiful view but it is starting to look its age. It needs to be remodeled and cleaned up. The tables were sticky and the floors were dirty—with spilled food. The hostess seem upset and unfriendly. They never smiled or said anything to you. The server was nice and kind but it took a long time for the food to arrive and it was semi warm.

Lodge was nice , clean , Quaint, beautiful view from our “full lake view room”. The service , except check in and check out was poor. The Restaurant was full of workers that walked by without even an Acknowledgment we had to stop someone to try and place an order both time we ate there. Unorganized I guess? We will stay there again but choose some where else to eat.

You can’t beat the location or nostalgia of Sunnyside as a Tahoe home owner who visits approx. 10 times a year. You want to love this place but it is so dirty, messy and slow service and sub par food - I don’t think I will venture back after last nights dinner. We were never given set ups, drinks took 25 minutes - no sharing plates when the appetizers came and the entrees were not edible. When they seated us they took us to a dirty table with a high chair - floor full of food and had us wait to clean it while we stood there. I would say if you sit at the bar only and go in and out fast and maybe order fries - your good

Food was great and outdoor lakefront seating was very nice with beautiful views. Hula pie was amazing for desert and so huge - perfect for a family of 4. After the sun set, however, it got really dark and the sparse string lights were not near enough to illuminate the dining tables. We could not see our food at all so had to use phone flashlight to illuminate table during entire dinner. This is a huge oversight, even waitress admitted that it was too dark and offered to bring us a glass so we could prop our phone onto it - a table lantern would have been perfect to add to the ambiance and provide additional lighting.

The location of this restaurant is amazing and the view from the outside patio is fantastic. Our server was very nice. Now regarding the quality of the food, certainly not up to par and not worth the prices. I had the chicken and the dish was embarrassing. My adult kids had the $21 burger and said it was decent. My wife had the $41 fish, and the taste was bland and the presentation so-so. Overall, the food was a bummer but the vibe and the view saved it.

Super disappointed. Table dirty, no silverware, waited quite a while to be acknowledged. Was asked to “help out and grab my own waters” off a slipping tray from the server (which then spilled on table). Server was young female that had a lot of tables, I’ll give her that, but was flippant when I asked her to explain two entrees that didn’t say what the protein was. Our food was cold (appetizer), my entree was truly gross as everything had coagulated from being cold. She wasn’t around (or anyone) to discuss. Special mention made on reservation on Open Table not acknowledged with dessert. When I asked her discretely—she obviously & loudly said “oh, yeah, that’s only for birthdays and anniversaries for free dessert…anything else doesn’t matter”. Totally ruined the point, the surprise, etc. What a waste of time & money. She did take off the entree. Can’t get back the special night though.

Menu is "tiny" and food quality is poor-fair. A real disappointment, we have dined at Sunnyside for years. Unfortunately won't be back or recommend to others. What a LOSS !
