The menu is ridiculously lacking…not a lot to choose from. Been getting more limited every year. Prices have gotten out of line. Go for a nice view and the fantastic fried zucchini, and an iced tea, water or soda. Go somewhere else for main meals and any drinking. Also, I’ve been twice in the last week and we get our silverware and napkins.

When I made reservations I did not know they were having a special Mother’s Day Brunch Buffett. I am not big on buffets. The eggs Benedict was impossible to cut because the bread was as hard as a rock. The eggs were very salty and the French toast was burnt. It was fine not just $35. I love this place and was looking forward to ordyoff the menu.

The buffet was very good. Great selection. We really liked the cinnamon rolls. The large size along with being fluffy and soft. Wish could get the recipe for the frosting. The issue was the placement there were steps to get to buffet line. And being in a wheelchair made impossible get to it. But that's where the great staff came in. A staff member saw me and immediately stepped up to help. He put together my plate and let me know just let him know if I wanted anything more. A side note a man named Duane was just constantly on the go. He saw me and that's when we found out he was a Marine like myself. Can't wait for the outside deck to open. It is always worth the drive from grass valley. Also if you want a great place to stay the rooms are great and right on the lake.

Mother's day is a very special day. We went there for brunch. It was a very pedestrian offering. And you could have used the english muffin under my eggs benedict as a hockey puck. And the ham was thin and dry. I could have gotten a better meal at Denny's for 1/4 the price.

Did not know that on Mother's Day SS was doing a buffet only service. We had been here on Mother's Day 2 years prior and that was not the case. No bother, but the quality of the buffet was sub-par. The offerings were quite limited. The cinnamon rolls were, by all accounts terrible, as were the eggs Benedict (english muffins were hockey pucks). The scrambled eggs were passable as was the bacon and link sausage. There was very little fruit offered (pineapple as I recall). The french toast was not bad, but certainly nothing you you might not see at I-Hop. The doors to the deck were open and a breeze kept us all cool. The deck was going thru its annual refresh and there were buckets of deck sealer and a portion of the deck had just been sealed. The fumes from the sealer were wafting through the dining room. Really not what you'd expect. We'll be back for a summer nibble on the deck when it opens, but won't make the mistake of returning for Mother's Day.

It pains me to give a bad review of my favorite Mother’s Day brunch spot, but it’s changed. I’ve been dining at Sunnyside for 35 years on Mothers Day and boy has it gone downhill! First of all, they’ve totally done away with service. They will only give you service if you order a drink from the bar or a order a fancy dessert (deserts were not offered with the buffet). We did get water from the bus boy, but had to ask for salt and pepper. If you want coffee you have to get it yourself like you’re at a motel kitchen. In the past the server brought you coffee, tea, juice, and a few years back complimentary champagne or mimosas. The Buffet was not nearly as nice as it used to be. In the past we had a choice of fish, prime rib, ham, bacon, sausage, an array of salads, shrimp with cocktail sauce and many lovely desserts to choose from. The cost was was the same as before, although with the price of food, we wouldn’t have minded paying more. This brunch was way too expensive for the choices offered which were basically eggs Benedict, ham, bacon sausage, potatoes, pancakes and French toast. It was basically a coffee shop breakfast. One more thing. The deck was closed and smelled of strong deck stain. Families couldn’t walk out and enjoy the lake or find a nice spot to take pictures. The efforts to make it nice for Mother’s Day were minimal. Sunnyside management should ask the retired managers how they used to do things. They might learn a thing or two!

I love this place. It’s unfortunate the Mother’s Day brunch has dwindled down to such a small affair. We have been coming since 2010. I hope it recovers to what it was.

I was part of party of four. Drinks were average, Fried Zucchini was scrumptious, calamari maybe not so much. Main course: Fish tacos were average, Pistachio fresh fish was good, Thai Curry hot pot really flavorful, Filet mignon even after asking for a medium well was completely burnt. The hula pie was just a heap of cheap ice cream. Overall below expectations for what I heard about the place.

We went for Easter brunch. It was a reasonable cost for $35 for adults and $16 for kids. We were able to add on juice and adult beverages. It was about noon and there was a children’s egg hunt on the patio in the snow. The mist just lifted from the lake and it was beautiful. It was a fun time. The buffet was the only menu available but we had the option to add their famous zucchini or dessert. We opted for the zucchini which was amazing as usual. The food was good including eggs Benedict and smoked salmon.

Dinner on a snowy winter evening. Wonderful sunset view of serene Lake Tahoe, contrasting with Sunny side’s warm and bustling dining room . Engaging server. An interesting variety of menu choices. Venison was mouthwatering. Yellowtail tempachi wonderful. And who doesn’t love Hula Pie for dessert? Cocktails were lackluster and spinach salad under dressed for the occasion. Overall satisfying experience and would recommend and repeat.

Sunnyside is one of our favorite restaurants to eat at. We've been coming jere for 10 years. Our anniversary dinner is always at the Sunnyside. The ambiance and the service is always great. We even got to see a double rainbow in gall.

We celebrated my husbands 60th Birthday at the restaurant and stayed at the lodge and everyone was so nice and accommodating!

Nice meal on a snowy evening that led to a small crowd. Live music on Friday nights. If we are back in Tahoe City we would definitely stop again and consider staying here. We enjoyed our drinks, the zucchini sticks, prawns wrapped prosciutto, the halibut and Caesar salad. Service was great.
