We really enjoyed our Thanksgiving dinner. Such a wide selection and because it was a buffet, you could choose whatever you wanted, from salmon to Prime Rib!
We went to Sunnyside for our daughter's birthday celebration and everything was great! Service was especially good. Our waiter was very attentive, but not overbearing. Food was excellent and our party of 5 enjoyed every bite including the complimentary birthday ice cream cake!
Service was incredible. Very well trained staff.
Went for my daughters bday dinner and it did not disappoint in any way! Food and service was remarkable. It was a little noisier than I’m sit with is usually due to a large party with a lot of kids but as a family restaurant it was fine. Go to place every time we are in Tahoe.
We always enjoy Sunnyside when visiting Tahoe City. This is a favorite restaurant year round. The food and drinks are always good. We’ll come back again!
Sunnyside is usually a really great place to dine. I was however a little disappointed this time. It was extremely busy which in not normal for the busy season. But October is usually a bit slower. When the waitress had time to come over to greet us for the first time, she was very short. She turned around and left during mid conversation with us while we were asking for food related items. So 2 or 3 times that happened and I got frustrated. Didn't say anything to staff but I think that someone may have overheard our table talking about how horrible she was because she changed her tune the next time she came to the table. It was like a 180 and she was extremely helpful after that. It took forever for the food to arrive at our table. All the waitstaff commented how unusually busy it was for October. You could tell they were all scrambling trying to keep up and were waiting on the food to come out of the kitchen. But overall it wasn't that bad and they were able to redeem themselves by the end of the night.
Food was fabulous.
Atmosphere is very good. Service was very good. Food was fair- hamburger was good; ribs were terrible- dry and tasteless; salad was good but a little too much dressing. Desert was delicious.
A visit to Lake Tahoe is incomplete without a dinner at Sunnyside. Great food and amazing service by Nina.
Sunnyside is a lovely restaurant, the service was great, however, our meal was mediocre. We were very disappointed by the toughness of the $42 boneless ribeye. The calamari was good and we enjoyed the hula pie.
Sunnyside is right on the lake. We arrived just at sunset. Very beautiful. The staff and service was terrific. The area near the windows was full when we arrived and for us old people, it was pretty noisy. As the crowds began leaving at around 7:30 the noise level subsided. We had a salad, a rib dinner and pokey. The salad and ribs were five star. the pokey seemed a little salty to us. I had the molten cake with ice cream for desert. It was also great. We each had a glass of wine - my wife had a chardonnay and I had a cab. We picked the less expensive of the two choices but were both pleased.
I have been to the restaurant many times over the past twenty years and have never been disappointed. I try to get back every year or two when I get to the lake. It is great in the winter with its fireplace lounge and in the summer there is an outside deck.
Lovely location, and good service. However the food was mediocre and for some in my party their entrees and soups were delivered on the cold side.
We started off enjoying our night and our appetizers. Unfortunately when the waiter came to clear the plate of zucchini sticks and ranch dressing, he dropped the ranch dressing all over the back of my daughter and son's back. I understand that accidents happen, but there was no effort at all to make apoligizes or to take some consideration into the cost of the bill. Truly, both of their sweaters were most likely ruined due to this accident. It was not until I approached the manager, that they agreed to make a monetary concession on the bill. If this incident was handled in a lot more customer friendly manner, I would say that the night was a success. However, their customer service was so far inferior, that it would be very difficult to recommend Sunnyside.
An OK dinner. Sat inside which was fine but we were stuck against the back wall right near a door to a separate dining room where a rehearsal dinner was being held. One person in our party ordered the elk and just before everyone else was served their dinner, he was told the elk was not available. The restaurant comped his meal which was appreciated but the rest of the party was served and he had to wait about 10 minutes.
Always great to go to Sunnyside in the off season! The view is spectacular as always, service was good and enjoyed the slower pace of fall on a weekday night!
the best cornbread we have ever had, ever - and burger and ribs - amazing views, food and service - cannot wait to return!
They fit us in we arrived the day before the reservation. Big thanks!
Service was very good, view of Lake Tahoe beautiful and food was delicious.
Always a great spot for dinner. The waitress, Kerry, was excellent and attentive. The food choices were well prepared and tasty and the lake view is always a plus.
Not a great dining experience for us. We were seated inside but next to open sliding door, and the temperature was cold. No one offered to move us or close the window. The salad we ordered seemed to have been previously overly chilled or perhaps frozen. Finally, the manager would not accept our valid Open Table Rewards certificate proclaiming that "we use Open Table but don't accept their Rewards." We won't be returning.
The food smelled like garbage. We didn’t eat our food but the waiter kept saying “ so happy you enjoyed your food”. Kitchen staff in the parking lot said “ ya the food is disgusting”. The food smelled like garbage. The worst meal we have ever had. $240 and we did not eat any of it. Waiter was real really bad.
Sunnyside is the best restaurant in Lake Tahoe! We have been enjoying Sunnyside for many years. The staff is always friendly, the food is always fresh and delicious. It’s always a must go to when we are in Lake Tahoe.
Best food in North Lake Tahoe.
We eat there 10-12x / yr , year round past 15 yrs
Summer , Fall, Winter ..by car or boat . Many wedding anniversaries and NY Eves there ..this past meal was disappointing..my Panko Crusted Seared Ahi Tuna main entree was cold and not nearly as well prepared or seasoned as when I had it June 30th ..we waited more than an hour for our four entrees and our server never once acknowledged hiw far behind the kitchen was ...shockingly poor service and food prep
Food was incredible. Cooked perfectly. Views are amazing.
So nice to watch the evening start at the lake! Always good food and awesome view!
Excellent dinner - had the Elk and it was cooked just right and it is delicious in combination with the salad. Hula pie and zucchini sticks were a must. Beautiful evening on the deck watching the sunset.
AMAZING views, service and steak!
(The crab cakes were delicious too!)
Definitely worth the trip!
My Gibson was not prepared as requested. For the second time at Sunnyside the calamari was lousy - all deep fried crumbs and practically no squid! Our guest’s meals were good, but the chicken we ordered was too dry with no sauce to juice it up and the vegetables were burnt. If it was not for the beautiful setting and nostalgia we would probably not return.
Sunnyside was nice but crowded and a little pricey for the food you get. It’s good food, but not great and the view could be spectacular if there wasn’t a huge crowd in front of it. Par for summer time Tahoe I guess...
Weve been to this restaurant many times over the past 7 years. Unfortunately our waiter didn’t demonstrate very warm, friendly customer service skills. Next reservation I will ask for a specific waiter when I reserve our table.
Go for the vista, the food is unremarkable and overpriced.
Food, service and view from outside deck were great. A little loud. But, overall worth it. For a quieter experience, go in Oct and Nov.
Especially on a warm summer evening, Sunnyside has spectacular views of Lake Tahoe and the surrounding mountains. The menu is diverse; the wine selection is excellent. It is good for couples, families and just friends. The clientele obviously enjoys this iconic Tahoe spot. Don’t ignore it on your list of things to do.
Great view of the lake but the food/service was just average...not much to the salads...added (cold) chicken. The half chicken dinner was pretty good. Bar menu seemed decent but not able to order off that menu ("if they are too busy..."). Drinks were ok...wine list decent.
This wasn’t our first time at Sunnyside thank goodness
Unfortunately we waited over 45 minutes for our entree’s to be served. Our server did comp one round of drinks and we appreciated that!
Food was good but a little overpriced for the portion size. Noise level a little bit loud which made it difficult to have a conversation. Our server was great! Very attentive. The quality of the food was great. Parking is a bit of an issue. We had to valet park across the street.
Fabulous location. Good service and good menu. Steaks cooked unevenly but beef quality excellent. Fried zucchini to die for!
