We came for dinner and were so disappointed that a longtime favorite has gone downhill. We always start with zucchini fries and they were greasy and over cooked. That set the tube for the rest of the meal. The food was poorly presented and visually unappealing. Flavors were ok but it was an inexpensive waste of money. Please get your kitchen staff in order.
I would have given 5 stars but for the fact that we were not seated at an outside table, despite my request via phone call (as sunnyside requests), and promised the evening before. We got a window table, fine, but disappointing, and not the way I like to start an evening - the Caesar salad was so heavily dressed my friend couldn’t even taste the nice piece of salmon she ordered with it.
Have been going to our family home in Truckee for 28 years and Finally made it to Sunnyside. We 💗Duke’s and were not disappointed with this sister restaurant.
My wife and I are pescatarian and don’t eat dairy. Sunnyside helped us out and made terrific modified meals for us! Thanks!
We came in for a late dinner and were greeted warmly and seated promptly. Service was very pleasant and food was delicious. Sunnyside is a very comfortable and welcoming place, and we will definitely return.
Great entrees, a really nice view and fantastic server! Also we love the Hula pie and the Sorbet!
We split an Apple and candied pistachio salad which was good but had no apples or pistachios. We asked our waitress if they were missing and she said oh they must have forgotten to put them on but didn’t offer to bring them or refund us.... my halibut dish was $34 and the halibut was about 1/2 the size of a playing card. Service was good and of course the ambiance is lovely but the menu is really lackluster and my fish dish was rather lukewarm. My sister’s French fries were stone cold.
Great food with a spectacular view on Lake Tahoe.
Salmon and Salad were the best.
We try to eat at Sunnyside at least once when we are in Tahoe! It’s become a fun tradition. And they never disappoint!
Filet was really good. Fish was really good. I'll be trying to duplicate the fried zucchini at home.
View was great.
One word: Disappointing. The overall quality and service has really gone down. We've been coming here for 15+years and it's usually one of our favorite places in Tahoe. This time, we had poor service (slow, no clearing plates between courses, messed up food order, etc.) and the food was not good. Fish was dry and chewy with no flavor, and $15 glass of wine tasted like it had been sitting open in the fridge for a couple of days. Very disappointing, as we had hoped to celebrate a special occasion. I've had better food and service at Cheesecake Factory.
Great food and service. Only issue I had was that it was not relayed how much the mimosa were and we were charged $10.00 a glass . We each had 2 coming to $20.00 that was a little bit of a shock. As almost all buffet’s I’ve been to include unlimited mimosa’s . But we will return love the food and service.
Beautiful location, delicious food, inconsistent service. When we first sat down the waitress seemed to be rushing us to order. When we finally did order, it took a long time to get our food. Nonetheless we enjoyed it very much and we would definitely go back.
Come for the view and the food; stay for the Hula Pie!
The music was not appealing. Some sort of rap type at dinner time was negative in our minds, though we LOVE sunny side and come here often. The food and ambiance are always great and our waiter was very kind.
Sunnyside is a Tahoe staple and a must go if you have never been. Great for large groups and can't be beat for their outside deck seating.
This brunch was a complete delight. Last year we were at Garwoods for their Easter brunch. It was fun but super intense, noisy and chaotic. So the Sunnyside lovely and peaceful atmosphere was such a relief. The food was amazing and we had excellent service from our server and the entire crew. I was so impressed and will go again next year. My adult children all enjoyed it immensely also.
We went on Easter. The hot food on the buffet line was warm to cold. For example, the egg Benedict, potatoes, sausage were cold. The breakfast was 37.00 per person. I think it's a beautiful place with Fabulous views. I would go back for another meal but I'd stay away from the Sunday brunches.
Easter brunch was just perfect! The staff is always so friendly and they make you feel like your not just at a restaurant but at someone's home. Always making sure your enjoying your experience. Cindy always welcomes you with a warm smile even when it's crazy busy. When entering the dining room you can see that everyone is laughing and enjoying their experience at Sunnyside. Sierra at all time was attentive and enjoyable to talk too. Allie and many staff members love to say hi and make you feel like family. One thing about Sunnyside they want their guests to be like family! JR, the Manager is there to make sure we are relaxed and enjoying our experience and the wonderful food. JR likes to make sure that all their guests are important and welcome them back. We got the pleasure to meet the new Executive Chef, Will, who reached out to the guests also. Looking forward to trying his new summer menu.
Great food, Great staff, Great view, Great time!!!
We did the easter brunch, and since there was an easter egg hunt, that assumes that you expected kids to be there. I would just recommend making the experience more kid friendly, so having beverage containers more suited to children and baskets for the easter egg hunt (none were provided), and bowls for the yogurt & granola. Overall though, it was really a lovely time and those were very minor conveniences. The staff was also abundant and helpful. Location on the water is excellent. Would def. recommend this to people.
Great service, views. Food is just okay.
Great server thanks
It was wonderful! 5 stars.
Very friendly staff and the food was great. I had to send back my dish because it was under cooked but they took it off the bill. We had a great time regardless and will be coming back in the future.
Main dinning room is a little bit of a snooze but you can’t make reservations in the bar seating area. Food is tasty. If it summer, eat outside—a must.
Great location, view, service and food. Easy to find.
There are very few restaurants at the Lake that can match Sunnyside. Between the views, the service and the food, it may very well be the best. Everyone had on big smiles, including Mr. Ox, the manager. You can't go wrong booking the Sunnyside before sunset.
We had a great server and the food and drinks were fantastic. I tried elk for the first time and it was perfectly cooked on top of a delicious salad.
Always the best
Everything was great except for the hen party that was seated near us. A groups of screeching women. It was like dolphin people were having a yelling match. The server was nice enough to move us to the other end of the restaurant which helped. We had dessert in the bar and laughed up with the staff. I would go back with out hesitation, but may take an airhorn to blast back at any unruly "hens".
Outstanding, great service, great cocktails, room for big groups
As usual a fantastic meal in a great location. Our server was great and the view incredible
Was looking for a place to eat on our way back from skiing at NorthStar to our timeshare in South Lake Tahoe. The food was delicious and our server was great. We shared the zucchini sticks and then had the Mixed Seafood Hot Pot and the Short ribs Bolognese. Would highly recommend and would definitely come back again. And views of the lake are beautiful.
We really enjoyed Sunnyside. Beautiful view of the lake. Very nice people. I thought service with Nina was exceptional. Great wine list with very nice wine at excellent prices. Will definitely go back.
We have been coming to Sunnyside for decades and enjoy as much today as 20 years ago. Ox is a fantastic manager, and the food, location, service is all outstanding. We will be back again!
One of the best values in Tahoe. Great food and good service.
I always enjoy a well-prepared meal here, service is consistently good. It's an elegant place, for me and my budget, a once-in-a-month outing that I always look forward to, and never been disappointed.
Beautiful space and very relaxing. Our family dinner was great - lots of choices, and the mud pie dessert was to die for. We will be back.
