One of my favorite restaurants in Orange County..love the fact that it’s a cozy feel and the food and drinks are delicious! I went there for OC Restaurant Week and every dish was a delight, very flavorful and perfect portions. The server was very attentive as well. Will definitely be back!
This was an enjoyable meal. Tomato soup was especially memorable. Will definitely go back.
fabulous experience, really good food. i went for a buisness lunch & enjoyed conversation & wonderful food ! service was consisent & always came to check on us, really appreciate that . we made sure we let the servers know we appreciated the service . than you :)
Love the trademark sun dried tomato soup. The night we were there a large table of guests (looked like business people) were quite loud and that was a distraction as we were there with friends we wanted to talk with. It is a small place, so the noise was amplified. We were not greeted by any of the first 4 employees who passed us waiting at the host desk and service was a bit slow- I didn't get my soup first as I requested.
The mussel appetizer and tomato soup were delicious!
We ordered one of the specials / ono fish. It was not good - a hunk (thick) piece of fish that was not tasty at all
Butter cake was good
We decided to head to the beach for my birthday and I came across Sundried Tomatoes. It looked perfect! A great SF type of restaurant.
Food was amazing (the best truffle fries I have ever had) and the service was great. It was comfortable, relaxed, yet classy enough for a birthday brunch!
We walked around town for a bit, before heading to the beach. The location couldn’t be any better. Easy parking and cute shops to go in. Of course, there is also the Mission.
4 of us went for a spur of the moment dinner. We told our waiter that we had a deadline and he was very accommodating to make sure that everything was taken care of on time. We were also able to get in on a earlybird wine special which was great. Wonderful dinner!
Great service and delicious food. Came back the next day to order their food to go!!!!
It was a great Date night spot.
Service friendly but with a few mistakes
Food was just ok. Would not make the drive back to eat here again.
We were impressed during our initial outing at Sundried Tomato American Bistro, enhanced by the unique food and first-rate service. The occasion was a joint birthday celebration, which they acknowledged with complimentary brownie sundaes. Overall, a delightful culinary experience - we'll definitely return for an encore. So many yummy-sounding menu items, there are more we'd like to sample.
My food was very good. I had the calamari small plate and a small salad.
Calamari excellent, salad was missing some ingredients(hearts of palm).
Asked for dressing on side. Salad was dressed.
Food came before I got my drinks
Had to ask.several servers for water.
The server never came back to table while I was eating and brought check before I asked for it. No chance to.order coffee.
Enjoyed our dinner and like new items on menu. Carrie (sp?), our server was personable
and helpful as she has been every time she helped us!
Disappointing. Dinner took over 30 minutes to arrive and then was mediocre. Shame because I like this place for lunch.
My friend arrived by train and we had only a few hours to dine and enjoy our conversation before she left. I walked around and looked at 5 different restaurants before I selected Sundried Tomato and made a reservation. Thomas C. was an excellent server, patient, answered all our questions and gave us time to study the menu. The food tasted fine but was a bit pricey.
We arrived when the restaurant opened and it was quiet but then a party of 8 sat next to us and the noise level was beyond normal. Completing our meal quickly, we walked to Starbucks and enjoyed our coffee there.
Didn't enjoy my meal.
We decided to have an early New Year's Eve this year. We went to Dana Point Harbor right before dusk and watched the Christmas lights come on and then drove to Sun-dried Tomatoes in San Juan Capistrano for a 5:45pm reservation. Our table was ready and all four people in our party enjoyed the time we spent at the restaurant. We all loved our meal--even though it was a special (somewhat smaller menu), we all found something we liked. I ordered the lobster tail and it was delicious. We might do this again next year!
Overall fair meal and beverage selections.
I suggested SunDried Tomatos to my girlfriend. I had not been there before but she had and she raved about it. Had a very romantic table near bar area. Wine was very good and waiter never pressured us to order. Was told Tomato Soup was outstanding and it was. We split lamb chops and a pasta dish. Very good. There 2 1/2 hours and time flew by. Great restaurant-don’t change a thing.
We live in SJC and enjoy going to local restaurants. I have a special diet and they were able to accommodate me!
My young friend and I were on a writing journey from Los Angeles on Metrolink and we stopped in San Juan Capistrano for lunch before our return to L.A. We had reservations at 12:30 and were seated promptly with a choice of indoors our out. The hostess and servers were friendly and attentive to our needs, but did not hover over us. My friend had the lamb burger and I had a spinach salad and half chicken pesto sandwich. Both were exceptionally delicious--a definite cut above. The half portions of salad and sandwich were more than ample. I was concerned about the timiing, because we didn't have long before our return train, but service was excellent and we had time to stroll around Rios Street as well. I hope to come back with my husband for a romantic lunch. With the train station a five-minute walk away, it's the perfect date without the hassles of traffic!
Tasty food! There signature soup really is amazing. Great setting for a family catch-up. Service over and above; staff apologised for slow service and even discounted our bill! Definitely going back.
Very unique menu items and very delicious!
Have been many times. Quality of service & food not what it used to be. Disappointed. Not sure I would go against
Pleasant atmosphere with pretty decent brunch. The vanilla french toast was delicious and succulent however the grits from the blackened shrimp and grits was somewhat bland. Overall good dining setting. Setup is good for daytime and nighttime dining however nighttime dining may be a time for a more intimate setting. Great customer service. Thank you for a good dining experience.
Very good service and good. Went for a birthday celebration ..
Food was uninspiring. I felt like I was dining at a coffee shop. The banquette we were seated at had about 4 5 inch tears in the upholstery fabric. Won't go back.
The food choices were good and the quality of the dishes we chose was very high.
Many folks find this spot to be great, in fact, my wife absolutely loves it. I am actually a very simple guy that would rather spend an evening at Selma's or Lucille's so my review probably isn't really fair to the restaurant but, just being an 'ol basic country boy, it is a bit out there. However, their Sunday Brunch is outstanding...the braised beef, goat cheese omelet is the best. Dinner, well, if you love it, you love it. If you don't, you probably only go because you need points with the wife.
Excellent service! We were never rushed through our meal in spite of the fact that it was busy during the lunch time hours. That meant a lot to us because we were dining with relatives from Chicago whom we had not seen for a while.
When we arrived we were told we would have to sit outside in the cold since our reservation were made by OpenTable. Or we could wait 15-20 minutes for a table inside. Funny a table was available almost immediately. Then the fries and soup were cold. The waiter brought new fries and the soup was heated. Also one burger was ordered medium rare, but the wait staff said they were all the same. After we started eating we found the medium rare burger was given to the wrong person. Otherwise the food and service were good.
Wonderful food options on the menu... Great soups / salads!
Being the leader of a family whose members are gluten-free and allergy-challenged, I'm always anxious about choosing the "right" restaurant. Nonetheless, I was greatly pleased with how satisfied my wife and daughter were with the outcome of our family's special holiday gathering. The servers were all well in tune with our dietary needs and catered individually to us all. Delighted with the appetizers as well as the entree selections, we all thoroughly enjoyed the evening together, including the specialty desserts. Decorated nicely for the holidays, we all loved the ambiance of the place. In addition, a round table helped to engage all five of us with one free-flowing conversation all evening long. We'd easily choose this location once again.
We always enjoy Sundried Tomato Cafe! It's our "go to" restaurant for out of town visitors.
All around great experience. Tomahawk ribeye for two was extraordinary. Our first time at the restaurant and we were very pleasantly surprised. Exceeded our expectations across the board. Can't wait to go back!
The traditional cream of tomato soup and the angus beef burger never disappoint. We both really enjoyed this comfort food meal. Our server was very friendly and attentive. She took time to make certain she had our order just right, with exactly the right accompaniments we requested.
