Sun Sun - Casa Marina a Waldorf Astoria Resort Ratings and Reviews
The location and view are really great. The service is really great. However, the advertised menu on open table is NOT the menu served. We paid expensive prices for a very safe and average meal. We selected the restaurant 25% for location and 75% for menu and it was not as advertised. Be sure to scope out the real menu prior to booking a table.
The food was good.. we ordered Conch soup, really large portions. Grouper ceviche ..delicious.. and it came out super quick.. apox 6min from order. And Since the soup was very large. i took my time to eat it. However, 10min ish after we received our appetizer, the main course also arrive. I was only half way through my soup. So they had to bring the main course back to kitchen. There were also waiter or service boy asked us if we finish our food few min after we got our soup. Apparently we were still eatting. The place is great but they need better managment.
Food was delicious and beautifully presented. I had mahi mahi and wife had shrimp salad. Only downside was inexperience and lack of English understanding of Greeter. I told her I had reservations but she didn't understand. Denied me the table I pointed out saying it was reserved. Turned out it was reserved for me but didn't find out until we were already being served. They did offer to move us but by then we were settled. Still beautiful place and environment!
The food was just ok. Key west offers a lot of amazing food and for the prices at Sun Sun the quality was not what it should be. I much rather spend that kinda of money somewhere else that has better quality food. The view is beautiful and a great chill place especially for sunset time.
My wife and I ate with a friend on the beach where the view is incredibly beautiful. All three of us enjoyed ourselves. Had appetizers, drinks, and desserts. Most everything was exemplary although our friends entree was rather small. My wife's paella was excellent as were my tamarind glazed ribs. The specialty cocktails were very good. An experience to be remembered at a beautiful historic resort property.
Ove over all it was a very good experience young lady who was the hostess and took us to our table seem to be in a very bad mood and was very noncommunicative and made faces at us we were just being seated at it was offputting until we met our waiter and he was very nice and completed the service
We had the Christmas day brunch buffet. Everything was prepared well and not a detail was missing. They had various serving stations and carving stations. The live music was a solo act with his guitar and it was very pleasant. Delightful dining for the holiday.
Construction, construction and more construction which I was not advised of at the time of making my reservations. Disappointed having paid for a balcony that I was unable to use because construction workers were visiblessed and oftentimes worked within feet of me. Loud atmosphere the entire time.
For a 5 star resort, this restaurant is not 5 star.
This is the second time that I've dined here and I have been disappointed. Here are some examples..
- Waiter brought our two beers with no glasses....c'mon this is a 5 star resort...I had to ask, do you have any frosted glasses???
- The guy who brought the bread basket brought NO bread plates.....I had to ask...do you have any little plates??
- The food was ok but not great.... For the price you pay for it, it should be sublime..
Overall mediocre at best...
We made reservations to sit outside but nowhere on the opentable did it say anything about special request to sit at the table on the beach and that's what I wanted.
When we got there, the hostess was very accommodating and helpful. We got the seating we wanted - on the beach during sunset. Service was great, food was great. It's a beautiful spot, awesome hotel overall. Will definitely stay here on our next visit.
Beautiful evening next to the beach with light breeze. Music was a compliment to the dining atmosphere. Service was impeccable. Exceptional menu choices with fresh ingredients. Lobster pasta was heavenly as was the bacon tomato Caesar salad. Our only "less than 5" was the rice in the paella was not quite right, but seafood was spot on! Can't wait to have an opportunity to go back!
Terrible service at beach bar. Sat for 10-15 minutes at a not full bar with 3 bartenders before we were approached about a drink!!!
Sat at a table for dinner. Very windy and cool. Asked for heater to be lit. 1 1/2 hrs later- no heater after several requests
Would NEVER go back. And this is a Waldorf Astoria property??? Not good
