Warning - I am a foodie and just arrived after a month of travel in Japan... Overall service was fair...kitchen was fast - hostess and server were ok. The food is overpriced and not a good value given plenty of restaurant choices in Scottsdale... the civiche was average, decent flavor, but $36 or $39 was overpriced. The chips were salty, tasteless and not suited for the dish. The nigiri sushi was below average. Go to Uni or somewhere else for decent sushi. the steak skewers were chewy - and the sauce was just ok. The steak main course, forget the exact name, crazy or? Was tender, but not very good flavor. The "sauce" was like a Miso - I would not order this again. The Sea Bass was very good and sadly the only item worth mentioning. The sauce and flavor and fish were all very good. the ambience was ok, loud, but that seems to be the "flavor" these days - there were plenty of tables left when we left. If you want a place to go that seems "cool" with average overprice food...with plenty of "bartender reveal" then this is the place for you... If you are a foodie...pass, hard pass...

I hadn’t been to SumoMaya before, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed their all-inclusive brunch concept. For $45 per person, you get unlimited appetizers and one entrée, and for an additional $35, you can opt into unlimited cocktails. It's a fun twist on the usual buffet — instead of piling food on your plate, each appetizer comes as a single portion per order. That means less waste and higher food quality, which I really appreciated. It’s truly quality over quantity. Everything I tried was flavorful and creative. Standout appetizers for me included the bourbon toffee plantains, pomegranate guacamole, papas bravas, and sumo rangoons — all delicious and plated with care. For my entrée, I had the Dan Dan noodles, and they were excellent — full of bold flavor and perfectly cooked. Others at the table had the shrimp & avocado toast, wagyu steak & eggs, and the Steak & Huevos Divorciados — everyone left happy. Service was great throughout — the staff was friendly, efficient with clearing plates, and attentive with orders. The restaurant has a lively brunch party vibe, with upbeat EDM-style music that actually worked well with the bright, eclectic decor. Our server brought out pancake street tacos and arroz con leche for dessert, which were the only real letdowns — they didn’t quite live up to the rest of the meal. One other wish: offer coffee! Even as an à la carte option, I would’ve gladly paid — brunch without coffee just feels incomplete. Overall, I loved the concept and think it’s an especially great pick for a group outing. The mix of fun, flavor, and festivity makes this a spot I’d definitely return to. Highly recommend.

Loved the fusion Asian Mexican food. It all worked, and the wagyu carne asada was very tasty. We had a wonderful server too.

Terrible brunch experience on Mother’s Day, entrees arrived over 30 minutes, last dish entrees arrived 15 minutes after everyone had been done with all other entrees.
