My first time visiting SumoMaya for my 30th Birthday was a great experience! The service is wonderful. The food is delicious. The drinks are exquisite. However, the high top tables are very small for the amount of shared food ordered. Constantly rearranging plates and glasses to accommodate for the next item. The lighting is very dim, with some tables sitting in the dark. The music is extremely loud for a restaurant. It’s hard to hear the person next to you. The DJ was great, just wish they would turn it down a notch. Overall, SumoMaya Mexican-Asian Kitchen is a great place for a celebration!

Well….this was the worst service I have received from SumoMaya. Place was not busy, took 33 mins to receive our drinks, server said “it was his fault, the drinks we’re just sitting there” we normally receive 3 or 4 little appetizers on a plate yesterday we only received 2 per plate. It also took a while to receive other appetizer requests. Main entrées arrived before the 3rd round of small bite plates. Also, main entrée portion sizes have become extremely smaller. We use to have brunch there at least once a month if not more and it’s definitely time to find a new brunch spot.

We visited here on a girls trip for the first time 2 years ago and were looking forward to coming back again. The ambience was great. All the food was delicious except the Tres Leches. Cocktails were balanced and the tequila selection was solid. Our service was very slow, she was not attentive whatsoever and we felt as if she had forgotten about our table. We almost got up to ask the hosts or a bartender to help get our servers’ attention. The manager on duty seemed to be completely oblivious, as he paced around the floor while on his phone.

We had brunch. It was AMAZING!!! Loved the shared plates and the ambience. The DJ was super fun too! It’s now one of our fav places! Our waiter, Trent, was fantastic, offering great suggestions and just the right amount of attentiveness. Make a reservation-u won’t be disappointed!!!

Excellent evening with great food and service. Music was just a little loud to hold a comfortable conversation with the person across the table.

So after a pretty decent dinner here the things really went bad when paying the bill. For some reason the waiter said my credit card would not run. Not that it declined; he just couldn't get the machine to read it. Weird because it's a brand new card as of a month ago so theres no way it's demagnetized already. Not to mention I used it earlier that day no problem. Unfortunately I didn't have any other form of payment so the waiter said he could ask his manager if he could manually type in the credit card to run it. Manager said no. Apparently it is company policy not to do this. So you have the ability to run my card but you're just not going to?? So the only solution I was offered was to drive home 30 minutes, get a different credit card (or find an ATM), while my wife waited at the table by herself... really?? After speaking with manager I find out too that this is a recurrent problem! That they've asked the higher ups to get them chip readers, Apple Pay, or at least updated machines that can actually read swiped cards consistently and upper management is too cheap to...wow. Also apparently too cheap to even comp us a drink for my wife while she waited or something; after all it is YOUR machine that failed (used my card right afterward at Seven no problem). While this place has decent food and vibe and tries to pretend like it's a high end restaurant upper management falls seems to place very little emphasis on customer experience/service

Service was good and food nicely presented. However, the noise level was way too loud for a comfortable dining experience. Maybe this is good for people who don't have a lot to say to each other but makes conversation difficult for those who want to converse.

Sumo Maya was fantastic! Zac was our waiter and gave us excellent service. He was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. We started with chips and guac, then shared the shaking beef and Chilean seabass family style. Every bite was delicious. The staff was great, and the vibe of the place is super cool! Fun, energetic, and stylish. Highly recommend!
