SumoMaya Mexican-Asian Kitchen
Our food was delicious and our server was very good. However the experience was disappointing at the very beginning. We Asked to be moved one table over away from the waitstaff table. After talking with the hostess she informed us that she could not move us there because she needed that table to be put together with another table for a bigger party. We made a reservation weeks ago so we were disappointed that they couldn’t accommodate us. If this wasn’t bad enough they never use the table for a bigger party and sat a party of four exactly the same size as ours right next to us literally 10 minutes later. There’s absolutely no reason why they couldn’t seat us at this table. Unfortunately we won’t be returning here. We were left us with a bad taste in her mouth ; no pun intended.
We had a birthday dinner for my daughter. The food was excellent and our server was great. The noise level was so high that even though we were a small group, you had to lean across the table to hear...and we were on the patio in the corner which was probably the quietist place in the restaurant.
Loved the food. Music was WAY TOO LOUD. Would not return because of the noise
We have dined at Sumo Maya in the past, and the food continues to be creative and wonderful.
One this occasion, we had made reservations and were seated at a table for two flanked by a table for six and a table for eight. The vibe at Sumo Maya is fueled by dance club beats, which drives up the volume when people at large tables talk. We requested a change of tables, and when we moved to a somewhat quieter spot (averaging 75db on my Apple watch), we could and did enjoy everything.
It was so noisy that we will never return. Manager said he likes it that way
Been wanting to try this place for some time. I WILL BE BACK. The FLAVORS! We enjoyed the Seaweed Salad appetizer, spicy yellowtail roll and the rainbow ceviche. We were full but HAD to finish it ALL it was that delicious. CANT wait to return!
If you asked me pick between the awesome food and the RAD service I just couldn't. Love everything about SumoMaya.
Wow!! This was by far the best brunch experience I’ve ever had. Our server was amazing and the food was top notch.
We really like SumoMaya. This time we came for Sunday brunch and were very disappointed. We didn't want to do the bottomless brunch and just ordered from a regular menu. While the food was good the service was horrible. We felt we were punished because we didn't want to do brunch. Waitress was inattentive and unaccountable. My husband got served cold meal twice. The manager compensated for it though. And that's why I am giving it 3 stars. We ordered two main entries and a churro waffle. They brought waffle with ice cream way before entries. Waitress blamed everything on a kitchen instead of taking a responsibility when it comes to submitting the order where it makes sense to bring entries first and dessert later. Not to mention the fact that entries were serves 15 min apart from each other. Plus, the portions are so small for what they charge. We love the food there, but got very disappointed with the service.
Our food was incredible! Everything was so delicious. Our service was outstanding!
It was awfull, we brought a cake before our reservation for a birthday party, and said it was a surprise, asked for sparklers and candles they said they had everything figured out, we get there, the waitress asked the birthday boy If he brought a cake which spoiled the whole surprise, it was brought to the table with no candles, they said they didnt had any left, which was disappointing. Our food was cold, the meat was overcooked, they didnt had all the dishes in the menu.
I dont recommend this place.
Everything was excellent and we were thrilled that you could accommodate a party of 14 when we only booked for 10.
SumoMaya is a great way to spend a long brunch with friends, eating shared plates and each person getting their own entree. Along with this, it is $12 more (the brunch price is $32) for bottomless mimosas, margarita's or draft beer. The beer selection was great, and there are multiple flavors of both the mimosas and margaritas. Word of warning here - either Uber, Lyft or bring a designated driver. Your waiter, or any waiter walking by will instantly ask if you want another drink as soon as you have a few sips left. The food is good. We had a lot of sushi rolls, egg rolls (excellent), pork fried rice, salsa and rangoons, which were also all excellent. Service is impeccable and plates are cleared quickly. The seating is for 2 hours, which is more than enough to get stuffed on food and drinks. For your entree, the Carne Asada Scramble was really good, but the winner of the dish was the Enchilada Suizas were amazing. The Egg's Benedict hollandaise sauce was too thick and tasted like they used regular unsalted butter and not clarified butter.
Definitely call and make a reservation as it will get extremely busy during brunch. The outside area is heated and they will adjust the temperature if you need. It does get loud but thankfully the DJ was not spinning. This is a turn off for us at other brunch places that play the music so loud, it is impossible to hear people at your table. It looks like they can accommodate a huge party of 20 or more on the patio. Totally worth grabbing a group of friends and hanging out for a great brunch one weekend.
We drive 45 minutes just to go eat here, the environment is great. The staff is awesome and the food is absolutely amazing.
Our server, Victoria, was great and made our experience a 5 star worthy birthday brunch!
I would recommend for the food, but not the atmosphere. I am not a fan of the loud disco-dinner experience. I don't know if the annoying dj is there all the time but if I were to ever go back that would have to be eliminated. Also, the tables are too small. The food was delivered wonderfully fast, but the table isn't big enough to accommodate appetizer and entree plates, w/drinks. Oh and, yeah, NOT A FAN of the uncomfortable PLASTIC chairs. You are going for a trendy, hip casual thing, but it doesn't play, for me.
Awesome! Quality and unsurpassed service!
Innovative cuisine from Asia, Mexico and Peru. Excellent preparation. Quite noisy and hectic but overall a great experience
Highly recommend the margarita, tuna tostadas, guacamole, and tacos. The atmosphere and music are awesome!!
However, we were disappointed by some of food compared to a year ago: the bacon wrapped dates were overdone and the sushi is just ok. We vacation here from Minnesota where we have some of the best sushi in the country.
Celebrated daughters birthday. Excellent food, ambiance, and service!
Omg!!! The Chilean Seabass could be best bite I’ve ever had. Amazing flavors in a fun and funky atmosphere.
New Years Eve dinner the music was painfully too loud, this is not a nightclub the selection of music sounded like horrible noise! Have been there before and always enjoyed it, not this time!
The food was fantastic, love the fusion of asian and mexican. We had the salmon apple sushi roll, sounds a little out there, but the flavors are amazing. ALSO, have to get the Ecuadorian shrimp ceviche. The sauce is so tasty and shrimp cooked and chilled perfectly. Only real slight complaints are the music is WAY too loud and the outdoor seating was chilly even with two heaters. Our food also didn't all come out together, which doesn't really bother me but may others.
Waiter and food were outstanding .. noise was a bit loud .. but it was early New Year’s Eve ..
The al pastor pad Thai, was so amazing!
So yummy and so fun environment. Great to go for birthdays! Their food quality is excellent and their service is great too.
Fun atmosphere with great food
Love this place! Lots of innovative food that tastes great! Highly recommend this restaurant!!
Our food and service was perfection! Highly recommend this restaurant!
It was spectacular. Family in town and there was something for everyone. Terrific. Can’t wait to go back.
great service, eclectic lunch menu, and normal pricing. I was reluctant because of prior experience with the noise level and it was a simile experience yesterday. Maybe they’re just not the best for a business lunch, though generally it’s a fun environment for a casual lunch with friends.
The atmosphere is very loud and hard to hear a conversation at your own table. We ordered the calamari to start. It was fresh and and the chili sauce was great but the calamari was not crispy at all. I wasn’t aware that the dishes came out as they were ready without regard to how or who ordered the meal so our food experience was not enjoyable. Overall fresh food but not what I was expecting.
INCREDIBLE ALL AROUND! Going back again tomorrow night because of how great our meal and experience was :)
The food was fantastic. We cannot wait to come back and try more things on the menu!
Alayna is a wonderful server, and the ahi tuna tostado was out of this world. As a matter of fact everything was so delicious. Celebrating a birthday here is a must, and my granddaughter thoroughly enjoyed it. Whenever I ask her where she wants to go for her birthday she says SumoMaya
It was fabulous. We had the octopus to start and the flavors and texture were on point. Next, Waygu beef, the presentation was awesome and of course the taste was to die for. Entree, the best New York we’ve ever had. Unfortunately, the sea bass was just simple. It was cooked really perfectl! but with everything else being so wow, it was kinda disappointing. No wow flavors!
Too loud to have a conversational meal. Go with friends who have great hearing or read lips. Food is to rave about!!
Really good food.
