SumoMaya Mexican-Asian Kitchen
Did not stay to eat. The noise level was too loud and unacceptable due to the music not people. The worst noise level place we have ever been too.
Great concept with outstanding food. I have visited twice this week and service is on the slow side. Water was not kept full.
It was my boyfriends birthday! We got one of those crazy sparklers in this delicious marshmallow dulce de leche lemon dessert! Also ordered the billionaire roll for the fun gold flakes!! When it was brought to our table, the guy said “I present to you, the billionaire roll!” And served it up on a slice of a tree stump! We love their bacon wrapped dates and (after trying them, all haha) the guac with the sweet potato best. One of our favorite places for date night!! Had a delicious passion fruit pisco sour and the chiang maya margarita! Both expertly made and such a cool fusion place.
Excellent food and service was impeccable. We live in Ahwatukee and this was so with the drive. Wonderful place to have a birthday celebration. Thank you all for an amazing experience!
Kimchee rice so unique and a symphony of flavors. Best posole soup in Arizona.
The food was excellent. A variety of food was available for all to enjoy.
Very loud on a Saturday, so don't plan on having a conversation over dinner.
Great service all around I was very impressed with the accommodations made.
The server was great and very friendly
This night the service was poor. Drink orders were either forgotten or greatly delayed and food arrived in scattered times, leaving some with no entrees while others were already eating. One noodle dish arrived after everyone in our party was nearly done with their entrees.
Sushi rolls and tacos outstanding. Margaritas very good and creative.
great meld of two cuisines, so many items to choose from. best to go with 6 people to taste as many of the items on the menu. it is a small plate restaurant
Food was mediocre at best and very over priced. Service became inattentive when it was clear we weren't big spenders for the night. Heaters made the space way to hot.
In Scottsdale, a must go, yum food and great servers. Only knock here (hence 4 stars) is the limited and poorly conceived appetizers (typically a strength in a place of such quality). The sushi is very good and creative, rivals best that I've had in SF, Austin, and NY. Beer selection poor but cocktails super. Vibe is awesome.
Unique Mexican Asian fusion- some really interesting combinations and flavours.
Guacamole with king crab was awesome!
Great creativity and great taste
Much better than I expected and if they had other locations I would go again for sure
SumoMaya was one of my favorite restaurants I’ve ever been to! The food was delicious and fresh. The flavors were unique and blended well together. The ambiance was also fun and exciting. Definitely recommend the tempura rock shrimp roll!
Great food! Great ambiance. Service was wonderful. Adam did a great job making us feel comfortable. Will be back!
Worst service ever. Food came really late, some items never arrived and noise level or music was supper loud.
Birthday celebration brunch and it was perfect! Food and ambiance were great but service was best. Our waitress was very attentive and sweet. Will definitely be back
Love the food but the music is really way to loud for 7PM you can hardly talk. If that concerns you maybe don't go on Friday and Saturday night.
The music was way to loud
The food was great. It was our first time and our server was very helpful in how to order and the way things work. It was a little loud, but not unbearable. The rainbow ceviche was amazing.
Food was great and unique. Our server Victoria was great, so attentive!
Food was absolutely amazing and the restaurant was absolutely gorgeous and staff so friendly
Our server acted like he was on top of things but food drinks were late. Disingenuous also
It was great!
New Years eve
I would bring a date here if I didn’t want to talk or if we already knew each other. Also, hopefully we both would have eaten already bc servings are small. Food is very good, however.
Great service! Too cold on the porch, sadly.
Awesome place! Great food!
Blown away by the ambiance and quality of the menu items. I took my husband here for a special birthday dinner, and that's exactly what we got. It was very expensive (almost $200), but we splurged. I highly recommend the wagyu beef hot stone dish ($40) and the squash guacamole. Sushi was very good. Drinks were a tad expensive and I got extremely drunk off of the one drink I ordered. I did have to send back 1 drink I ordered because I didn't like it, but my husband ordered the same drink and it was to his liking.
It was an enjoyable and fun dinner, with time to talk and share delicious food. The only thing that bothered us was the noise level/acoustics. It was difficult hearing others at times.
Great experience, all the dishes we tried were fantastic especially the guacamole.
The food is delicious. You do not get much for your money. The serving size is very small. The serving size would only fill a 5 year old. Happy hour is great for the money. However, I went to dinner with my sister. We both had 2 Margaritas, a guacamole appetizer and 2 tacos each and our Bill was around $98. The tacos were so tiny and nothing came with them. However, the food is so good I will be going back for more and more. It is one of my favorite restaurants, now.
Very delicious meals, nice drinks and great service.
Great combination of Asian & Mexican cuisine! Food was creative, delicious and unique. Pomegranate Guacamole was the best. Great service!
Great place. It actually exceeded my expectations. My only critique is that there was probably a lot of sugar in the sauces used. I understand that most sauces do but I felt like it was excessive. Delicious though. I felt thirsty later in the night as well which gives me a hint at the sodium levels. But like I said, overall, really delicious, super fun and chic atmosphere and pretty good service. Our server could have been more attentive to making recommendations and hiding us through the menu as this is not a typical style of food.
Fun vibe, RJ is the hostess - very loud, fun music ....
We ate at the bar the service was awesome! Food was fantastic we had all the recommendations very pleased.
Wonderful, food and drink have always been spot on!
I’d say the food is average. Nothing was amazing, nothing was bad. Some of the combos didn’t really work well together. Faves were the Korean beef tacos and kimchi fried rice. Sushi was just ok. The mole chicken was bitter. Tres leches cake was yummy. The waiter started off the meal by spilling soy sauce on my husband. Would have thought they’d comp an appetizer but nope. The waiter really didn’t seem to care. We were visiting from out of town but probably wouldn’t go back even if we lived locally. Too pricey not to love.
Really fun place. Great atmosphere and creative interesting food. Definitely worth the trip
