Loved the idea of riding the gondola up and dining at the top of the mountain. Food was pretty good. Not sure the price matched the quality but you pay for the experience and being on top of a mountain is pretty amazing. Had to wait for a private table for 4 twenty minutes past our reservation time as we did not want a "community seating" table. We didn't mind waiting.... Staff was friendly and place was BUSY! Overall it was a great day! Can't beat the view!

Wonderful views from any spot in the restaurant. Relaxing option for family gathering between ski runs. Excellent choices of beer and specialty cocktails. We all enjoyed our meals --Mac and cheese to bison elk chili to Crystal burger and more.

My wife and I decided to go to Crystal Mountain Summit House for a late Christmas lunch. The $20 gondola ride was great for price and view (I expected to pay more). While our bill was pricey on average, we were not surprised considering the location and understandable logistics of running a restaurant on top of a mountain. Service was great and the atmosphere was inviting. Great place. I look forward to my next opportunity to venture there.

Food quality is good and well seasoned. Staff were friendly and the view outside was outstanding. Perhaps it was due to the holiday seaon, the place is extremely crowded, with many patrons just standing around at the entrance and in the restaurant while waiting to be seated, which leaves the dining experience much to be desired. While the staff were trying their best, there is only so much space and so much they can do about it. Reservations are strongly recommended if you do not want to wait for a long.

This is my go to location for special events, out of town guest or any day on the mountain. The staff is great, the food impressive and the view, well nothing like it. I've taken family from different countries and friends who've never been up to the mountain. It's a special experience everyone enjoys.

Despite the overpriced foods in terms of quality vs. price, the restaurant takes reservation and has standing view of the mountains. Another down-side is the each server is responsible to make cocktails for the table. If you are lucky to have a good server who knows how to make an appropriate cocktails, you can enjoy the drinks or waste of money. The other places in Crystal Mountain ski resort are too crowded to find a table during busy weekends. I basically have no choice but to make a reservation to have a lunch efficiently while we are skiing/snowboarding.

We had a 60th birthday dinner on Friday evening with 8 in our party. The service was really friendly and timely. They had the kids order in advance so they didn't have to wait so long, a nice touch. They did tuck us in next to a support beam that they were working around so one in our party had to scoot forward and back regularly. Kind of a hassle to have to stop eating to move all the time. It was a $250 meal consisting of burgers and sandwiches not including the ride up. I'm happy we went but I don't need to go again.

I was so disappointed that we were on Crystal Mountain on one of the rare nights this summer that the mountain wasn't out! That may have colored my overall experience but I don't think so. In the restaurant, the food was good but nothing spectacular. They were out of my first choice for wine so I ordered another white wine as did my husband. It was served at room temperature in a warm glass that just came out of the dishwasher. That was a little disappointing when I was looking forward to a glass of cold, crisp white wine. My granddaughter ordered a cheese burger off of the child's menu but was served a grilled cheese sandwich instead. She accepted it rather than have to wait for food while the rest were eating. Overall, we just enjoyed the experience of being together, riding the gondola and walking the rim of Crystal Mountain. The view was spectacular even seeing only the base of Mt Rainier and the below. The view would draw me back up there and I probably would return to the restaurant while there but it wouldn't be my reason for going!

Our friendly waiters and servers did a great job with our family group of 8 serving us a delicious meal. We enjoyed our first trip to Summit House Restaurant very much. One member of our party thought the portions were very large. Next time we will probably pay the extra plate fee and share entrees. Of course it was our own fault for filling up first with the yummy appetizers of Manila clams, Bruschetta, Shrimp cocktail and Truffle Frites. Next time, just the Bruschetta. I found the home-made Ginger ale a little too sweet, but as the ice melted it was fine. I liked the Chicken Brie sandwich and the Crystal Mountain Burger which my nephew and I shared. Thank you to our waiter Chad and all the staff that made our 1st time visit an event to remember!

This restaurant has one of the best views in the Pacific NW--amazing. It's unfortunate that the service doesn't inspire as the view does. The trip up the mountain is awesome--wouldn't have missed it. Once there, we were seated outside, promptly. Initial service attention was also prompt and courteous. We placed our drink order and the server mentioned that they were out of some of the drinks because they had run out of key ingredients, so the drink selection was somewhat limited. No big deal. We placed our food order a short time later only to find out shortly that 2 out of our six selections were not available. One person in our party ordered their second choice only to be told 5-10 minutes later that was also unavailable. The server basically said it had come down to burgers, so he ordered a burger. Then we waited, and waited while parties around us who had arrived 10 minutes after we ordered were served and were enjoying their meals. In the meantime, the temperature dropped and the breeze picked up. It began to get too chilly for our group of 2 children and one elderly person so as we were still waiting for our order we asked to be moved inside. The server said she would ask. About 5 minutes later, the food finally arrived and the server said the manager had declined to allow us to move inside. Our meals quickly got cold. We ate about half of them and left to go back down the mountain to get warm. The server was kind enough to discount our meals which we appreciated but it was overall a very disappointing experience in a location that was otherwise definitely worth the visit. The impression we got was that the kitchen was disorganized and/or overwhelmed and they just wanted everyone to quickly finish their meals and leave.

On July 14th we traveled with 13 other people to enjoy the views on top of Crystal Mountain and to enjoy lunch at the Summit House Restaurant. The views from the top were breath taking. The lunch not so much. The restaurant at noon was crowed and the wait staff was over taxed. We had called ahead and informed them that we were a party of 13. The service was very slow. The food nothing to write about. Several of our group requested and received as much as 30% off their checks due to food being over cooked. We had our soup delivered as our main meal arrived. The soup was flavorful but cool. We mentioned it our waiter and he apologized. It was a no brainer we ate our meal and later tasted the soup. Three of us asked for our meat to be medium rare and instead received medium to medium well. Our fourth diner ordered the chicken plate and said it was tastefully done. The wait STAFF tried their best but there were to many people all at once for them to have a chance at providing the GREAT service we expected. Perhaps the same could be said for the kitchen. We'll never know. Frustrated diners

The overall of this restaurant was meh... One reason is because the food wasn't that good, and the portions were a little too big... Although the view was beyond gorgeous, we did not really enjoy the restaurant that much. The waitresses and waiters were helpful but they all seemed very busy and forgot one of our orders.

The view is amazing, of course. Staff was nice. Food was horrible - entire menu is odd items, my husband is not a foodie. We ordered the pasta which had a few mushrooms, one cherry tomato and buttery sauce (no cheese as the menu said, for $18. They were out of iced tea. When we were finished, the waiter brought our bill without even asking if we might want dessert.

Breathtaking views make this the best place (and only) place to dine at the top of crystal mountain. The food was good not great and the service was ok. Again not great. Their reservations were confusing because they allowed you to make a reservation for 4pm but don't tell you that the restaurant closes at 4 and the gondola closes at 5:30pm so we had a very rushed meal and rushed experience. $90 ride to the top plus the cost of the meal probably not worth it but the views were spectacular.

They ruined our day ! We showed up for our reservation on time at 4PM which was done via openTable, after 2 hours of drive. At front desk, she told... mmm .. we close our kitchen at 4PM but let me check if its still open.. She inquired in kitchen and let us in.. Shock#1.. Why did you accept reservation at 4PM..but we were still happy as she inquired in kitchen and then let us in.. The server shows up.. takes the drinks order .. comes back with drinks and starts to go back... we told we are ready to order some food.. Shock#2.. server says.. our kitchen is closed already and i thought you were told that at front desk ! we wont be able to take any further orders as they already closed the kitchen and last order is already out ! He also went inside to inquire and double check the same. Shock#3 - Few minutes later .. food gets served at other table (people who had ordered already) .. what ! didnt he say its closed already and last order is out ! Worst ever service !

My wife was excited to try the Summit House on her 60th birthday. A perfect spring day - gondola ride, sunshine, Mt Rainier view and outdoor seating on a 60 degree day! No need to sit inside on this day. A few skiers were still hitting the slopes, but it was a perfect location for us non-skiers too. The waitress, Dani, was very sweet, friendly, and knowledgeable. She really topped off our experience at the Summit. The food selection was good and we chose items that were simple but tasty. If beer is your thing, go for the extra 2 dollars and get the large glass 22 oz stein (rather than the 16 oz plastic cup). This is a great, informal photo op atmosphere, so don't overdress for the dining experience. Just be comfortable and enjoy. After lunch, we enjoyed some reclined view time in the cloth lounge chairs which face the big mountain. Who could ask for anything more? Thanks.

Unfortunately our experiancedidn't amount to anything more than a nice drive to the mountain. Winds were above 20 mph which shut down the gondola which is the primary method of transprtation for non skiers to the resturaunt. Our option was a very crowded café at the lodge. If there was another option for nonskiers, we were not aware of it.

I was expecting a quiet lunch at the top of the mountain. Not necessarily with the scenic view but just quiet and relaxing. During my reservation time Sunday at 12:45 it was Very crowded and loud, dishes being dropped, and I even watched a server walk past us clanking two small plates together just randomly making noise. Overall, it was just too loud which had me leaving with a headache. I also suggest if you have a reservation to dine, you shouldn't have to purchase the ticket to ride the gondola to get there. I suggest having a system which allows you to check in at the bottom and then proceed to the top.

Summit House has a new chef and new menu. The food is great. Northwest with some neat influences - fried egg on top the salmon salad. The food was distinctively different than before and definitely much better than before. I liked it before. I love it now. The prices a little more than before too though.
