Summerhill Pyramid Winery - Sunset Bistro Ratings and Reviews
We were two couples meeting up for Sunday brunch during wine fest. There were also a few tour buses rolling in during the time. The food was plentiful and delicious despite the volume of guests. The only negative was the wait for the omelette station, and we felt bad for the one guy with one pan managing all those orders. There should have been two pans on the go, at least.
Essentially a vegetarian/vegan restaurant but hey do offer meat dishes, however limited. Had I known this when I booked, I would've chosen a different restaurant. Because of the very limited meat menu selection, I won't return to this restaurant. Service was not great.
Had an excellent night here on the weekend. There was a sip into sunset promotion going on that included wine pairings for each course. An excellent way to sample your way across the menu. Food was excellent and the wine was perfect. Our server Doug was extremely knowledgeable and helped create a perfect evening.
Vacationing in Kelowna, this vineyard has Excellent wines, enjoyed the wine tour and history of the pyriamid the experience was fabulous. Have already been out to the vineyard twice this week and will going out again with our friends who came into town tomorrow. The view is outstanding. Thank you
Share plate menu as opposed to a la carte dinner entrees was unexpected and disappointing. Had the risotto which was a feature item. It was dry and lacked flavor. Requested biscotti along with a latte for dessert. Despite serving biscotti alongside the crème brulee, the portion provided for 2 of us to share was pathetic - 1.5 thinly sliced biscotti. Although it was not an official menu item, the restaurant should have been able to improvise and provide a proper share plate of biscotti - even if the charge was similar to another dessert item.
The ambience and the view are fantastic! Our server was very friendly and definitely did his best to make it a great dining experience. Unfortunately the kitchen was a bit overwhelmed (to be fair, it was very busy) but we had a great time regardless. The wine is decent and food was overall quite good! Definitely recommend the pork belly
We booked for 6:15pm, party of 7 (4 adults and 3 kids). Server was brutal. She took her sweet time doing everything. She too forever to come back and take our orders, I had to ask for a wine list (it's a flipping winery), it took until 6:45 for her to even get us wine (once again, we're at a flipping winery). Our food finally arrived at 7:30, so we had 3 young kids who were starving by this time. I tried to ask for a manager, but it didn't seem like one was around. One of the folks working the tasting room tried to help, and they gave us a complimentary bottle of wine, but for service that brutal, it didn't really cut it. Top that off with our table being attacked by flies the whole time, and it was a really unpleasant experience. The only thing good I can say is that the food was decent. But with many other options available, I wouldn't go back or recommend it to anyone. Cedar Creek winery is not too far from here, and has way better service! Really poor job Summerhill.
Quite disappointed with the meal and service. Meal was ok, nothing spectacular for the pricing. My husband got the butcher block which was chewy and cold. Our server checked on us once, was not helpful we had to get everything from the person filling our waters. Then when we were done with dinner, we wanted to order dessert and was told that he's not going to bother bringing the dessert menu because the kitchen was 30min behind unless we really wanted dessert, plus the fact that the restaurant was closing in 45 min...Regardless there were other people who just got seated and haven't ordered their dinner yet. Nice venue but not impressed at all.
Was pleasantly surprised. Made a reservation for 7 for saturday night a day before and was worries the fact there was an availability was a sign that the food was not good quality. But the food was amazing. My husband is a foodie a was so happy with his meal. Like how the main portions are vegetarian based and then you can add on a protein. For a winery it was also very kid friendly with a kids menu and colouring. If you want a quiet romantic meal then be sure to book after 7:30 when the kids have gone ;)
After arriving at 12 for lunch, we had to wait until 12:36 for our food order to be taken, at which point I made it very clear we had to have our bills settled by 2 due to another engagement we had for 3.
Our food took over a half hour to arrive at the table, and this is not an exaggeration because our server and the table teased about what would happen if it took more than a half hour. But I thought to myself, "it's five people, three of us are ordering the same thing, there's no way that it can take that long since I also told them about our time restrictions."
Not only did it take over the half hour to come, but also a half hour to see our server about getting drinks refilled too - at that point we'd already been there an hour. Our drinks had been empty for a while. When he showed up he informed us it'd be another ten minutes or so for the food. None of us were in the mood for more drinks at that point and opted for water.
I was really disheartened by the service, and then the quality of the dishes we'd ordered, especially because the last I had been there in 2013 the meal was one of the best meals I have ever had. I had talked it up to my sister and her best friend, and they were really disappointed.
So I didn't actually try the food, as we left shortly after being seated. I had some family in town for a special occasion, so I decided to take them out for a nice meal and show off the beauty of the area. We had arrived on time for our reservation after finishing our tasting (bought several bottles) and were seated inside. This was frustrating because the walk-in table immediately before us was seated on the patio, which to me is a main draw of the restaurant. I asked if we could sit on the patio, as we could see an open table, and was told they would see what they could do. The next party that arrived was then seated at that table. We felt pretty slighted, so rather than sit there stewing about things, we left for another restaurant. I'd recommend that reservations be followed up by a phone call to the restaurant if you are interested in enjoying their beautiful patio, as you don't want to leave as disappointed as we did.
Fabulous location with fantastic views Sun setting over water! HOWEVER we were very disappointed with our poor welcome when we arrived.A bit of a queue - half a dozen people in front of us, 15 minutes or so and we were to be seated next ( we had booked by the way) Waitress completely ignored us and seated couple who had only just arrived behind us!! - we felt insulted to say the least and almost walked out. Our table waitress was lovely though and quite professional. We enjoyed the meal, the wine and the view.
Came to summerhill with a friend for dinner. I made reservations for the date and time needed and it was available. Arrived early so we could look at the view and tour the winery. We got to learn about the wine and wine taste before dinner. Staff was very nice. Restaurant was very busy but staff tried their best to check in with us. Dinner was perfect, appetizer as well.
I went to Summerhill as a reserve option because I did not have time to reserve a spot at Quail's Gate or Mission Hill. I was very pleasantly surprised. The food was excellent and so was the wine. Staff were helpful and the prices were very reasonable. I ended up going to Mission Hill 3 days later and, while it was an excellent venue, the food did not measure up. 10/10 would recommend.
We were there for supper with friends! The wine and atmosphere is great but the meal we ordered, almost all of us was terrible! We had the chef's steak and it was almost raw! It looked to me that the stake was taken out of a frozen state and put on the high temperature grill! The outside was burned and inside raw! Not only raw but cold inside!
Very disappointed with that! Loved the potatoe soup from the garden and the salad!
We always buy wine there, like the fact that they do not use any chemicals and I know because I do not get headaches!
I recommend the wine bit not the bistro!
Nothing better than sitting on the outdoor patio on a warm summer evening and dining through a perfect sunset! We also enjoyed a bottle of Summerhill Cab Franc with dinner...fabulous! Our waiter was prompt, professional, friendly and very knowledgeable with regards to the specials and the menu items. Great service!
We dined here on a very windy evening. We were seated on the patio which has beautiful views of the lake. Burrata starter was huge and delicious and could have served four people. The pork belly served with an egg was very good. The steak special with vegetables was tasty. We enjoyed our meal but felt a bit wind blown and wished we had requested a move indoors. Service was great.
Wonderful evening, fantastic wines, excellent service - saw a few reviews complaining about the service but I think those are totally unfounded. We had a long, slow dining experience and were well taken care of by our knowledgeable and friendly waiter. Will definitely be back!
View was great, food was great, service....not so good.
We had to wait to be seated by the hostess....which took several minutes because we had been forgotten about. The rest of the service did not get any better. Took forever to get any service throughout our whole meal .
Food was delicious, slightly overcooked but the flavours were still there.
We asked 3 times to sit outside. We had a reservation. We saw people being moved in and out all night. It took a long time for service. I had the cheese plate but it was never explained (what kind of cheese). It was also mixed up with charcuterie so the cheese crackers were left off. Their were a lot of flies inside (trapped). Outside would have been better with the slight breeze.
We started with a wine tasting in the wine store which we were pleasantly surprised was free. The woman serving us was very friendly and engaging and we ended up purchasing a few bottles of wine....good start. Our reservation at the bistro was for 6 pm. We were seated out on the patio which had a great view. When we sat down at our table I was a bit taken aback by the food debris from other patrons that was under the table. We ordered our food and wine within 10-15 min of sitting down. When we received our starter salads they appeared wilted and tired. We did note this to our server-she was very apologetic and one of the salads was taken off our bill, which we appreciated. We waited for over an hour before we received our main courses. With the prices on the menu I would have expected a higher quality of food and presentation. Overall the service was good, the ambience was nice but the wait time was long and the food was mediocre at best.
