Summer in Chicago, IL is a modern restaurant that has been serving the area since 2007. The facility offers a variety of quality Asian fare. You can find some great appetizers on the menu including the chive dumplings, fish cakes, eggrolls, edamame, honey crispy tofu, shrimp sticks and the crab Rangoon.
Some of the specialties at Summer include the orange chicken, pad thai, kung pao, sweet & sour chicken and the house fried rice. Rice dishes, curry and noodle options are all readily available at Summer, too. If you would like to finish off your dessert with something sweet consider the Thai custard, chocolate lava cake, cheesecake or the mango sorbet.
Great food and vegetarian friendly. The inside is a little divey, but the food makes up for it.
Summer was a great find. The food was delicious and we love the BYOB. Was the perfect spot before heading over to a production at Berger Park theater on the lake. Easy to get to by public transportation. Will be back.
I have always loved Summer and will continue to do so. The service is consistent - all the ladies have an accent but is definitely understandable. The Crab Rangoon is always on point - crispy and hot!
I took my girlfriend here for Valentine's Day. The decor is nice, they added a few special touches because of the occasion. However, the ambience did not reflect the rest. They took 10-15 minutes from the time we arrived to the time they took our order and even longer for our food to arrive (the place had very few people, and it is a small restaurant). I tried their Pad Thai (which wasn't to my liking) and asked if I could order another dish instead because I didn't like it, which prompted the waitress to go for another 10-15 minutes to ask if I would receive a refund for the Pad Thai. Afterwards, I asked for a dessert list, never came back so decided to just ask for the bill, which was another wait. Nearly $40 for 1 good dish. Not worth it
Went with family to try it out as I have been looking for a Thai restaurant since I loved to the area that wasn't overpriced. Had the Scallops Dynamite, the Tilapia special and Hot Popeye Noodles and a couple of appetizers including the cucumber salad. Liked the pineapple dressing. Will order from them for take-out.
I liked the appetizers and the drinks too. It has color and
they work hard to make eberything look appealing.
I saw a group come in and I saw two people and another group that sat together. I liked the service to the customers.
I always come here for lunch because its near my school. I like their crab rang goons & lunch special. I also like how they give 10% discount to students if you pay in cash. I am Thai & I eat a lot of thai food in chicago and in Thailand. Their food is not that authentic but it is good. The servers are friendly.
Hidden under the L tracks on Granville, well worth searchinng it out. Some of the BEST food in the area.
Common, support local business.
You definitely do NOT need a reservation. We walked in and were seated without asking if we made a reservation. People came in sweatpants to pick up food and take home. Definitely not a super fancy restaurant like my boyfriend and I thought, so I was SUPER OVERDRESSED!!!! Jeans and a hoodie would still be appropriate and I was in a black dress, tights, and 5" heels. Food was alright, but I was kind of disappointed. I probably won't go back.
