I would say the food was overall very good. Nicely presented with some modern twists. Spice level was good. Perhaps a bit more on the expensive end considering pretty standard Thai dishes. I was mainly disappointed by their cocktails. We had several different kinds, and although they were good, they were not as we expected flavor wise. For example, I was excited to try the Thai Ice Tea martini, because who doesn't love Thai Ice Tea...and it really barely tasted like the beloved drink (more like a hint). Same with the Lychee cocktail. I was expecting delicious Lychee flavor, and it tasted more lemony. We also got the Matcha Creme Brulee and it came out under cooked and watery, so they had to bring out another one.
I plan to come back and try their Happy Hour menu...probably not for dinner though.
We hadn't been here for a couple of years and we missed this place! The food is as good as always and the service has really improved. Despite there being several large groups, the servers were attentive and brought us our orders quickly.
The food and staff at Summer Summer are top notch. They have a great happy hour too. Tastefully designed inside. Fresh ingredients, helpful staff, keeps us returning!
we started going to summer summer because of its convenient location. but the food has gotten better and better. it is now definitely worth a little drive: not a "destination restaurant," but a very good place fora low key, group friendly, reasonably priced good time/good food evening.
Parking makes this a questionable choice. Food is great but take uber or something else.
modern furnishings, moderate lighting, rather loud acoustics, but solid thai food. the yellow curry was great. Solid happy hour till 7 on Fridays too. Service lacking a bit, talked super soft but then couldn't hear me at all.
We have never been disappointed with the food, drink, & service.
We saw the write up in the Chronicle for restaurants in Emeryville and decided to try my favorite season. It was fun, affordable and delicious. We will definitely be back with friends.
The food is good especially for lunch. However, the service is not the best.
Really disappointed. Food was not very good. Dumplings had cold spots. Pad Thai noodles were very chewy, fried tofu was dry and the chicken was rubbery. Other dishes are also pretty disappointing. Atmosphere and service was pretty good. They just need a new chef.
Still love this place for the food and atmosphere but this time the service slowed to almost a crawl. Nevertheless we'll be back.
The food was a lot for a single diner. I probably would come back for Happy Hour to try all the small plates. The sticky rice and mango dessert was pleasing to the eyes and palette.
This place is great for grabbing a bite before or after a film in Emeryville. It is very clean with nice decor and friendly service. A mix of happy hour specials and their regular menu makes a lovely meal at a very reasonable price.
Summer Summer a great place for a group to go for a nice dinner. The food is excellent.
If you are looking for a place for innovative and excellent Thai food as well as a full bar, great service and ambiance this is it. Our first time but we will be back often.
Summer Summer was great - Summer Summer is ALWAYS great. We have never been disappointed.
We've been here a couple of times before during the week and loved the food and service, however; this was not the case we when we brought our friends on a Saturday evening. The food tasted very blend and the corn fritters were way over cooked, the service was lacking as well. We asked for water service three times, the restaurant was not busy so not sure what happened with the overall service.
Loved the food and great for dinner. Nice menu selection.
It nailed my criteria, good food and a noise level that let me visit with friends w/o competing with crowd/music.
Consistently, good food, wine, & outstanding service.
The Thai food is superb - crisp sparkling flavors, fresh and the sauces are blended beautifully. The service was helpful, friendly and attentive. It was intimate and quiet although there were a lot of people in there. Our 3 person group sat next to another group, yet we weren't talking over them, nor them us. I'm immensely glad there wasn't a TV. I'd go there again in a flash the food and ambiance was so lovely.
We enjoyed the more imaginative dishes we had more than the usual Thai fare on the menu. The decor and atmosphere is nice.
Mixed sashimi appetizer was amazing, curries were all incredibly flavorful, and the sea bass my wife had was great,
The wait staff was so flexible and kind when we wanted to move our table at a very busy time for them. The food and atmosphere are well worth the price. Great place for a birthday dinner or mother's day meal.
We had a small family dinner together---Everyone agreed the food tasted fresh, flavorful, and appealing in every way...Will keep on coming.
Food was delicious and the restaurant has good decor and nice ambiance. I was with a group from several countries (India, Israel, US) and everyone enjoyed the food. My Indian friend said his dish was very good - just the right amount of spices in his dish.
The food here is excellent. There are classic Thai go-tos on the menu, and a few unique twists. Everything we tried was delicious. The restaurant was not full, but the servers seem to be a hurry. Don't come here expecting a top-notch table-side manner; do come with an appetite!
This place had a very nice feel to it and the music being played was well received. I loved the dimmed lighting and the layout of the small restaurant. This is definitely a place I would gladly recommend to friends and family. The food was amazing, I had the best steak I ever tasted and the food presentation was very nice. The service was quick and the servers were all in good spirits.
I enjoyed the ambiance and food quality of Summer Summer Thai, and also appreciated that this restaurant is certified as a Bay Area Green Business.
We took our grandson here for the second time and he loved it. he was happy, we were happy!
Summer Summer has a fresh selection of grocery items from local growers which permeate the taste of each and every bite. The meals are very flavorful with a very appealing presentation. Even on these cold winter days the Summer Summer menu has the recipe to warm you up on the inside.
Summer Summer is in the recesses of Emeryville's office district, so convenient for weekday lunch. Not flavorful for Thai food, and tables too small for dinner. Not worth a trip out of your way, so just eat here if it is nearby.
I like Summer Summer for large groups. The service there is great. If you want "Thai spicy" they won't hold back ;) The food is otherwise good, but definitely American-Thai fusion. The cocktails are a little too sweet. It's still a lovely hip looking interior to have a drink and meet up with friends.
My friends and I love to grab dinner after work here. They have a great happy hour menu. The entrees always taste fresh and have a unique thai food twist. I recommend the garlic edamame and Ponza tuna. The noodle bowls are a nice portion and can be shared.
We were in a bit of a hurry since we needed to catch a movie and the delicious food arrived promptly and the wait staff was courteous and friendly.
We had the crispy spring rolls and Tom Yum soup to start. The soup was very spicy just like in Thailand.
We also had Thai fried rice and Pad see U. Both delicious and plentiful! Will definitely return.
Small group where we ordered a variety of food and shared. Good food and service. I will certainly be back to try other items on the menu.
Altho generally a good dining experience, we were disappointed w/2 things: 1) after ordering most of our items I mentioned that we wanted some steamed veggies, in particular for our kids. Our waitress recommended something from the menu. When the dish arrived we discovered it was steamed veggie smothered in a thick peanut sauce. Not what I expected at all. One of our kids is just over 1 yr old and not eating many nuts yet. Thankfully the waitress took it back and off our bill; 2) we asked if we were still within the happy hr time zone, our waitress said "yes." My husband ordered a beer only to find that when we got our bill it was not on the happy hr list. Why didn't our waitress alert us to this after having asked about the happy hr?!
The food was great and the drinks are fantastic! Very nice restaurant... Highly recommend!
We ordered some untraditional Thai dishes and my roasted duck noodle was fantastic. Love it. My friend ordered Spicy salmon salad which was a great pick too.
We love this restaurant and come here often because it has the best Thai (fusion) food in the East Bay! The place is clean -almost spiffy. The prices are reasonable and the portions more than adequate. Try it....
