Awesome people. Great food. Beautiful space.
The hostess was a bit short with us, but I think she was just overwhelmed because it was pretty busy.
Sat in the back 'outdoor' space - great space, well decorated, nice option for outdoor dining.
So nice to be dining during vivid. Felt very safe. All precautions taken. A sunny day made it even more pleasant.
I have dined here since it opened. But the prices were just raised by 20-30% and the “Covid charge” just increased from 4% to 5%. So the meal prices jumps AND this “Covid charge” increases. I know our State has killed restaurants, but paying $18 + $8 for salmon for a salad that probably cost $13-14 a few months ago is something I won’t often do.
It’s great that it feels like you are inside despite the roof being cracked open a bit to stay within covid guidelines. Tables spread apart is great. Did and service always fantastic.
Love to eat at SHSM whenever I’m in town. Beautiful space and exceptional service 😍
It was very frustrating to always go and have a great experience and be entirely confused with the bad service and attitude from the hostess. Given I was celebrating an anniversary, I found it strange the main dining area was not for reservations. We got put in the back corner of the makeshift seating on the other restaurant side and saw our waitress twice. Very disappointed and was embarassed to show my boyfriend given we finally got the chance to treat ourselves in celebration
I came here with my friend the other night and it was one of the worst experiences I have ever had at a restaurant. Our server was completely rude. It seemed like he was purposely trying to ignore us for the entirety of our meal. After he took our order he did not come back to our table until I finally got someone to get his attention so that we could pay and leave. I attempted to get his attention multiple times by putting my mask on a waving him down as he was wandering around the restaurant. This server did not care whatsoever for our satisfaction. The food was great, but not worth the poor service we unfortunately received. I was very excited to take my friend who is visiting to this restaurant and I was embarrassed that our experience was so bad.
It was amazing! Great food! Great setting! Was a little pricey though.
Great atmosphere. Consistently delicious food!
I LOVE this place!!!!!
I’m always pleased when I go to Summer House, however we were sat inside during a time when indoor dining is not supposed to be available. The “patio” table we reserved was full. I was pleased with the staff and the safety precautions they had in place though. And of course, the food is always good.
we requested to move by the heaters and they so kindly let us move! Food was excellent
Matthew the server was fantastic!!!
Perfect setting on a winter afternoon!
Celebrated my friends birthday and made note of it on the reservation. They brought out a cookie and ice cream for her!
Food was great. We were seated in of the booths and ate our dinner with coats and jackets on. Not sure if the cold breeze was coming from the revolving door or vents. We needed to eat our food because we did not want to get our food cold. We ordered pizza and a fish dish. Food was great it was winter weather inside the restaurant
Please note you need hot water on the bathroom sinks. 😊 thank you
I went to this place during the pandamic. The table were all spread out nicely. The staffs were waering mask. Sevice was excellent. The service didn't feel rush to get us out. It was a nice pace. Staffs were pleaseant . The food was delicious.
Food was just ok.
The atmosphere was safe but also held its fun and relaxed feel. The food was delicious and the service was great.
I was trying to find an “outdoor” dining experience that wouldn’t leave me freezing and Summer House was perfect! We were sat in their all season back patio and it was warm enough to eat without a jacket on. There are a few spots in the restaurant that seemed colder than others (some high tops next to an open window inside Stella Barra and the tables next to the tent in the front of Summer House), but for the most part the dining experience seemed very similar to pre-covid times. The food was amazing as always!
great ambiance, food was just okay
got a carbonara dish and pumpkin pancakes
nothing to write home about, not the best for the price
Loved everything about our lunch experience. The food, ambiance, and service made an excellent start to our anniversary celebrations!! Highly recommend.
Sat outside on stella barra patio- horrible ambience and freezing!! Not enough heaters! Ordered warm drinks that arrived cold. Food was very mediocre and very overpriced.
They were wonderful with my daughters food allergies to tree nuts, sesame and shellfish! Food was excellent!
Food was either under cooked or burnt, no in between. Way over priced
Loved dining here! Felt super safe and the staff was great.
Food is trash. Place is nice though.
Our 2nd visit within 24hrs. The night before we ordered some cocktails, beer, Parmesan truffle fries, burrata salad, mushroom pizza and a salami pizza. we scanned the menu so I’m unable to know the exact name of what we ordered. Everything was great and service was as well. Therefore, we came back the following day for an early dinner w/our daughter because she’s a vegetarian and we were able to eat indoors. We ordered the mushroom pizza and burrata salad because we loved it the first time. Second time was just as great! We also ordered the pumpkin & Italian wedding soup. Italian wedding soup was excellent...healthy & comforting on a cold winter day. My daughter liked her pumpkin soup, but thought it was a little too sweet. Our server was professional, courteous, inviting & engaging. He was a DePaul alumni and welcomed my incoming freshman daughter with encouraging words about the University and the Chicago area in general. I mentioned I saw the fresh baked cookies the night before, but didn’t get to experience them. He gave each of us a cookie as a thank you for coming back and a welcome gift to my daughter. I will definitely revisit this restaurant again!
We started off with Shishito Peppers and a Costa Mesa Salad. For entrees Laura had the Trout which was cooked to perfection, and I had the Pasta Carbonara. Everything was served in a timely manner.
P.S. We arrived early, and although there were plenty of seats available, we were told we needed to wait till closer to our reservation time. The lobby was crowded, and my wife was uncomfortable waiting inside. With the outside temperature at below 30 degrees we waited out in the cold. Also I am 74 years old, and do not understand why we could not be seated when we arrived.
They went out of the way to accommodate us and my daughter had a great Birthday. Thank you SM. The manager Andy was spectacular
