I LOVE this place!!!!!
I’m always pleased when I go to Summer House, however we were sat inside during a time when indoor dining is not supposed to be available. The “patio” table we reserved was full. I was pleased with the staff and the safety precautions they had in place though. And of course, the food is always good.
Matthew the server was fantastic!!!
Perfect setting on a winter afternoon!
Celebrated my friends birthday and made note of it on the reservation. They brought out a cookie and ice cream for her!
Food was great. We were seated in of the booths and ate our dinner with coats and jackets on. Not sure if the cold breeze was coming from the revolving door or vents. We needed to eat our food because we did not want to get our food cold. We ordered pizza and a fish dish. Food was great it was winter weather inside the restaurant
Please note you need hot water on the bathroom sinks. 😊 thank you
I went to this place during the pandamic. The table were all spread out nicely. The staffs were waering mask. Sevice was excellent. The service didn't feel rush to get us out. It was a nice pace. Staffs were pleaseant . The food was delicious.
Food was just ok.
The atmosphere was safe but also held its fun and relaxed feel. The food was delicious and the service was great.
I was trying to find an “outdoor” dining experience that wouldn’t leave me freezing and Summer House was perfect! We were sat in their all season back patio and it was warm enough to eat without a jacket on. There are a few spots in the restaurant that seemed colder than others (some high tops next to an open window inside Stella Barra and the tables next to the tent in the front of Summer House), but for the most part the dining experience seemed very similar to pre-covid times. The food was amazing as always!
great ambiance, food was just okay
got a carbonara dish and pumpkin pancakes
nothing to write home about, not the best for the price
Loved everything about our lunch experience. The food, ambiance, and service made an excellent start to our anniversary celebrations!! Highly recommend.
Sat outside on stella barra patio- horrible ambience and freezing!! Not enough heaters! Ordered warm drinks that arrived cold. Food was very mediocre and very overpriced.
They were wonderful with my daughters food allergies to tree nuts, sesame and shellfish! Food was excellent!
Food was either under cooked or burnt, no in between. Way over priced
Loved dining here! Felt super safe and the staff was great.
Food is trash. Place is nice though.
Our 2nd visit within 24hrs. The night before we ordered some cocktails, beer, Parmesan truffle fries, burrata salad, mushroom pizza and a salami pizza. we scanned the menu so I’m unable to know the exact name of what we ordered. Everything was great and service was as well. Therefore, we came back the following day for an early dinner w/our daughter because she’s a vegetarian and we were able to eat indoors. We ordered the mushroom pizza and burrata salad because we loved it the first time. Second time was just as great! We also ordered the pumpkin & Italian wedding soup. Italian wedding soup was excellent...healthy & comforting on a cold winter day. My daughter liked her pumpkin soup, but thought it was a little too sweet. Our server was professional, courteous, inviting & engaging. He was a DePaul alumni and welcomed my incoming freshman daughter with encouraging words about the University and the Chicago area in general. I mentioned I saw the fresh baked cookies the night before, but didn’t get to experience them. He gave each of us a cookie as a thank you for coming back and a welcome gift to my daughter. I will definitely revisit this restaurant again!
Excellent dinner!
We started off with Shishito Peppers and a Costa Mesa Salad. For entrees Laura had the Trout which was cooked to perfection, and I had the Pasta Carbonara. Everything was served in a timely manner.
P.S. We arrived early, and although there were plenty of seats available, we were told we needed to wait till closer to our reservation time. The lobby was crowded, and my wife was uncomfortable waiting inside. With the outside temperature at below 30 degrees we waited out in the cold. I am a loyal LETTUCE ENTERTAIN YOU REWARDS CUSTOMER (3265888).
Also I am 74 years old, and do not understand why we could not be seated when we arrived.
They went out of the way to accommodate us and my daughter had a great Birthday. Thank you SM. The manager Andy was spectacular
Very clean and covid friendly staff was great and food was delicious
Outdoor pandemic dining. Great service. Good food. The outdoor space is ine with a retractable roof, don't know if it's truly circulating air.
The Shishito peppers were juicy and hot. Had the half chicken which was very evenly cooked and full of flavor.
Overall good dining experience.
Heated patio was not heated as promised. Overall the food was as expected. Restaurant and bathrooms were clean. Staff was friendly.
We felt very safe dining inside with the restaurant's modified seating/ventilation arrangements. They are taking covid precautions seriously. Our server was excellent and attentive. We were seated towards the front where there was adequate ventilation and just enough heat that we were comfortable. The pumpkin soup is excellent, highly recommend for a cold day.
Incredible experience! Best $ to value of any restaurant in Chocago. Meatballs are Michelin quality. Highly recommend to anyone!
Can we please sit in the main area, if possible? Thank you for considering!
Great service and ambience
Great , Beautiful place great friendly staff great food
Felt very safe and appreciated the slice of normalcy even with all the great protocols in place. Thank you to the staff!
Enjoyed the food and ambiance. Able to take great pics for social media. And the best part of it all was the cookies at the end!
For a Christmas Eve dinner this was a disappointing experience. First we were called “these people” and then sat outside with “heaters and a cozy fireplace”. It was freezing. Two Of the three heaters weren’t working and the cozy fireplace was across the room. We asked to move inside and we were told there was no seating inside due to Covid yet there were plenty of people enjoying their Christmas Eve meal inside in the warmth. Our server seemed put out and annoyed to be there. The food was not bad but not exceptional or worth the money. There was a table of four close by yelling and laughing with vulgar language to top it off. I very disappointing for what was supposed to be a special evening.
Our waiter Anthony was so nice. We had a great time, thank you!!
