Excellent Beet Salad and the Idaho Trout was cooked to perfection
Very expensive for the quality and portion sizes
But love the vibe, energy and atmosphere
Great food in a wonderful ambiance...especially on a sunny day!
Good ambience. The tofu tacos are delicious.
Brunch menu is a bit overrated.
Had dinner at Summer House Santa Monica last night. While the mean was mostly good, it was outrageously overpriced. At the cost for items and drinks, I cannot recommend going there for dinner. You likely can find the same good quality food at much more reasonable prices for lunch.
There are also some quality control issues before you even order: my wife’s menu was sticky, there was a dessert menu on the floor beneath our table, both silverware for my wife and I was either spotty or dirty and we had to ask for get new sets for us both.
We had a Ahi Tina and Watermelon Tostadas appetizer (five pieces, very good tasting) that was $15.
Our dinner was prime skirt steak and fries ($35 - not worth the price, maybe I just don’t appreciate the prime version of that steak) and trout and mashed potatoes ($22 - good dish and value). Our side was Brussels Sprouts Salad, which was soggy that we did not finish (not good nor worth the cost).
Mixed drinks appear to be overpriced for the area (I might be wrong) but a small glass of Jack Daniels and Coke (likely from a drink dispenser and not a new glass bottle) ran $12.
Total bill was $165 for (1) app, (2) main course meals, (1) side, (1) large vase of wine, (2) Jack and Cokes, (1) ice cream cookie desert.
Our service was excellent and people were nice.
We have had very nice lunches at the restaurant in the past, but I will not return there for dinner nor would I recommend it to anyone.
We eaten at Summer House twice and have been disappointed in the food both times. Except for a salad, the meal was bland. We are regulars at Lettuce Entertain You restaurants, and "saved" the evening out by heading next door to Oyster Bah for dessert.
I hope I just got an off night for them. The staff seemed busier than the amount of customers warranted and food was blah. Once we put orders in, things came out very quickly, it just seemed like it took awhile to get someone to acknowledge us to begin with, after having waited for a table even though we had a reservation for about 15 minutes. My husband ordered the crab spaghetti and I had the steak frites and both were just okay - the pasta needed a LOT of salt, and even then wasn't worth it. The frites were thin and crispy but weren't fresh at all were difficult to eat. Steak was fine, nothing spectacular but it was decent. Overall think it was overpriced for what we got, but the ambiance was lovely!
Everything was very good.
We did order a vegan salad and it came with bacon.
Besides that everything was delicious.
The host and waiter were extremely kind and sensitive to my food allergy!
I realize it was a Saturday afternoon but we waited over 30 minutes to even get sat. The service was super slow when it came down to asking questions and putting in a drink order. It was louder this time of day and I didn’t think the effort was taken to make sure all of the orders being taken were heard correctly/ questions answered due to the noise level. Some of my food was cold and after looking at the drink prices more closely having been here several times now, they are really quite high. The meal was enjoyed for the most part but not one of my better experiences here.
One of the most spectacular places in the city to have a meal or a drink. My go to whenever I have guest in town or just want a great meal.
Waited 25 minutes past reservation time for our table, a high top we didn’t want in the bar area. Our server was terrific, and the food was good.
My husband and I had a great date night at the Summer House. The food and service were outstanding. We will definitely go back.
Food and service were excellent, and the atmosphere made a chilly February day feel like summer!
My burger was so rare the bottom bun was soggy & red from blood. I had to send it back to the kitchen and ask for a new one. The meal was not anything special but the ambience and decor was cool. I also ordered a drink called Ricky Bobby that was pretty delicious. I wouldn’t go here again for dinner but I would try brunch.
It was perfectly fine. I was expecting a bit more, especially for the price. The dishes were unspectacular and over-priced and very small portions. Same for the wine. Since they made a big deal about their "rose cart" I was hoping to try some really interesting roses, but they were pretty standard fare. The service was fine but I felt like we were getting rushed out.
Just love it
Overall a very nice experience. The appetizers (artichoke dip and Brussels sprouts) were excellent. The penne alla vodka was not the best. Other entrees were great. We have been here previously and I was disappointed that the sticky toffee dessert was not longer on the menu.
Fabulous food and drinks! Great ambiance
Great menu. A little slow
Loved the look of the restaurant, and the food was really great.
The quality of food has definitely decreased in the last year or so. We had a crab pasta dish that tasted very fishy (not in a good way) and couldn't eat it. A few weeks prior we were here and found both the brussel sprouts to be overcooked and not very warm by the time they arrived. For a neighborhood restaurant with a great atmosphere, it's unfortunate to see the food quality going down.
(Lunch review). We’ve been for brunch numerous times and it is my favorite brunch spot in the city. Lunch did not live up our experiences with lunch though. I’m afraid we left a little disappointed with the menu options, when comparing them to their incredible brunch.
This was our first time dining here. We decided to have brunch before we caught our flight back home to Atlanta. Everything was great from the service to the cocktails to the ambiance. Will def return for brunch the next time we are in town!
Introducing boyfriend to family for the first time!
Was a bit upset that my food came out lukewarm. It was good though. Didn’t like the fact that everything was extra charge and wasn’t informed of it while ordering. The drinks were good but not strong enough for the almost $20 price. I did the PB & J with the up charge.
