Delicious meal with excellent service !
Great spot for a get together
The ambiance is amazing. The place is very upscale and lovely. However, the service isn’t that great. Our server literally walked by us a bunch of times before we were able to finally get some service. I ordered the spicy tuna poke bowl and it was bland. My boyfriend ordered a turkey sandwich and got something else and at the time we didn’t know it was something else, until I ordered the same turkey sandwich he got and got a turkey sandwich that wasn’t the same one he ordered.
The meal was a disappointment. We were a party of three. Two of us ordered the rockfish special. The menu described it as coming with pistou, a green sauce somewhat similar to pesto. It took awhile for our meals to arrive. The rockfish arrived without any sauce of any kind. We asked the waiter for some pistou on the side, but instead he returned the dishes to the kitchen. It took another 20-30 minutes for new plates to arrive (which we did not ask for) and by that time the third diner was done. In addition, the kitchen had no pistou. We were offered another sauce, which was fine. We were also offered free desserts, which was nice. But at these prices, I would have preferred if it was right the first time.
Didn’t recognize or even acknowledge 50th birthday. A little disappointed
Summer House has the best brunch menu by far in Pike & Rose. Had the blueberry pancakes..very fluffy with fresh berries. Love the overall ambiance of this restaurant and definitely recommend for brunch.
The service for the third time in a row was slow and unfriendly. Menu variety is average. I like the venue but they need to pay attention to the diners.
Except for the interior design, I would not recommend the restaurant. The salmon was overcooked and dry. The bolognese was a bunch of mush. The fish my friend got was dry (cant recall name.) The guacamole was tasty and good but skimpy for the price.
Service was good and server very cheerful. I did not complain to the server because I didn’t want to further hurt my friend as this restuarant was her suggestion. But she was disappointed and my daughter who never complains was equally disappointed.
Food was overpriced and average but drinks are great. Also has a lot of vegan/vegetarian options
Ordered simply grilled trout - was loaded with paprika & some other spice, fish was not fresh. Do not like the other menu offerings. Expensive for fish fillet & 1 side. Third & last time at this restaurant.
Great service , food was amazing! We loved it and will defiantly go back!
Limited menu. Steak was expensive. I would like to see more options on menu. Cookie bar seemed separate, server wasn't able to tell us day's specialty.
Ambiance was good, but portions small and underwhelming we were also hustled out of our cable on a weeknight , even though there were no people waiting. Trendy, not worth the visit for the quality of the food.
Service was a little slow but good. Food was as expected. Bring back the vegetarian tacos!
Good food... menu friendly for all levels of food eaters. Great service
Nice restaurant, good food, but service was a little slow. Would definitely give another chance
Love the open, airy, atmosphere of Summer House. Food always good & plenty of great options on menu for all (Vegan or one looking to splurge). Love round table option for larger groups so can talk to all. Service staff very accommodating. Overall have had only good dining experiences there!
Always a beautiful place to eat. Great food. Great service.
What a beautiful restaurant! The weather was gorgeous and they had the sides of the restaurant open. The ambiance is very light and airy and it was cool being able to see the chefs cooking through the open kitchen. I went here for brunch for my birthday with family and the food was great! I got the smoked salmon platter and it was nice to be able to assemble the sandwiches how I liked it. Two others got the fried chicken and waffles and enjoyed it. Menu had a great selection and the food was fresh. It was also nice to get a free dessert for my birthday! I definitely want to go back to explore other items on the menu.
Living right there on Pike and Rose this is my to go spot every time I want to have a bite with friends and they never disappoint!! The service is always great, from the hosts in front, very friendly always, to waitresses and managers. What I like the most is the vibe of this place and the quality of the food, drinks are a hit or miss depending on how crowd the restaurant is, I believe there is room for improvement on the drink menu and bartenders. Im not getting them 5 stars until they bring the tuna roll back to the menu, they were my favorite!
Extensive gluten free menu.
With the exception of the tuna tostadas and blondie dessert, which were fabulous, everything else was just okay. The burgers and tuna sandwich lacked any significant flavor - not bad, but not great. Waiter was very good, although we didn’t see him often and they forgot to bring one of the appetizers, although they did comp us for that, which was very nice.
As usual, the lunch was very good and service was superb. It was very busy but noise did not bother me. I gave 4 Stars instead of 5 because I would like to see a few more lunch choices. For example, the mahi, mahi tacos are very good. I have had them before but portion needs to be smaller for lunch.
The server was not at all interested in being there. She was abrupt, never smiled and just seemed to want to be out of there.
Food was fresh and came out quickly. Brussels Sprout salad was tough to chew.
Third visit to Summer House, second disappointing meal in a row. Last time it was a busboy who threw so much water on the table next to us to clean it that it got in my daughter’s face and all over her meal. They comped her a cookie to make it up to her. This time the server was nice but not knowledgeable about the menu. I ordered something off the specials menu and was told about ten minutes later they didn’t have it. Daughter’s turkey burger was somewhat undercooked, my Brussels sprouts salad was disappointing. It’s a shame, it’s a cute space and the menu sounds good (although our last trip was disappointing as the chicken tacos are gone). It’s just too expensive a place to walk away having not liked the meal or the experience.
This is a good mid-range restaurant option in Rockville/North Bethesda, MD. The vibe of the restaurant is Southern California, lacking the beach and the tanned people. Service is typically fine, short of very good. There is a good variety of menu options for families, including lower-cost items such as burgers/sandwiches. Parking is available in the nearby garage with the first 2 hours free.
Food was fine. My only complaint is that I had a reservation but there were no available tables. I was not able to wait for a table so I was seated on the high bar stool tables in the indoor patio area which was very hot and uncomfortable. Reservations need to be better managed.
The service wasn’t good. The waiter forgot to bring our naan and two of our party’s meals were brought out before mine and my husband’s. Also, the humus has a lot of “stuff” in it, which we don’t mind, but it would be nice if it were chopped more. The trout lacked flavor and so did the spinach. The peas weren’t cooked enough and didn’t taste that good. The meatball on he kid’s menu was too spicy for kids. Overall, not a good experience.
Brunch food was yummy! The chairs for the tall tables near the bar are very uncomfortable.
A nice place for Sunday brunch. The staff is very friendly and the service is very good. Enjoyed the Bloody Mary and the French toast, and always love the interior design of the dining room.
Summer House is a great addition to the neighborhood -- good food, excellent service, fun ambiance. Parking is easy and the hours are good.
Love Summer House. Great food and ambiance but very noisy.
Wonderfull Staff! Wonderfull gluten free food. Highly recommend!
Mixed review this time.
PROS: Staff. We were seated promptly and courteously. The waitperson (Julia) was attentive and pleasant.
CONS: Slow and uneven kitchen prep times. We waited 20 minutes for a guacamole appetizer, and then another 30 minutes for three out of four entrees. The fourth entree (an easy vegetarian burger) only came 10 minutes later when we complained. Waitperson was apologetic but unable to fix the problem.
Normally I think the food is good, but it REALLY depends on what you order. We had Chicken Paillard. It was a small dry piece of chicken on the plate. The trout was also small and overcooked. I have had the roast chicken and salmon before and they were very good.
The service was VERY slow and our drinks took 20 minutes and were so watered down. A Kettle One martini tasted like water, not vodka. After the second one came (we did not complain about the first one) and was poorly made, my friend went to the bar to nicely approach the bartender. She was rude and made it again in front of him adding soda water and ice to chill the glass. When he said that could be the problem because the drink tasted like soda water, she rudely replied then I will give you a warm glass if you want it. Clearly she doesn't completely empty her soda water before pouring the drink. No apology or politeness. When the manager stopped by we had just gotten our food. We replied we did have an issue but could he come back in 5-10 minutes to discuss. We stayed another hour talking to friends and he never came back.
I would like to add that I made reservation on open table but it still took 25 minutes to be seated.
The food is always very good at Summer House, but it is very, very noisy at cocktail/dinner time. Even though we had a reservation, we were seated 20 minutes late :(
Server was wonderfully attentive and so were her colleagues. Looking forward to returning again soon!
It was nice but hard to get servers attention. Bread came late and was skimpy. Also skimpy on the chocolate sauce.
Tried the spicy tuna poke bowl (tuna, avocado, cucumber, serrano, green onion) with 1/2 and 1/2 rice and kale salad. I will gladly eat this lunch again (and again) in the future. It's a bit pricier than other lunches in the area, but definitely worth it. My companion had the beach club salad and thought it was fine. The service was pleasant and I appreciated the mention that you don't have to choose between rice or kale salad with the poke bowl - you can ask for 1/2 and 1/2.
Pretty restaurant, good food, service is always lacking!
