Our server was very observant and took care of our needs
The service was awful. We had two different servers the first was worse than the second. It took 10min to get drinks. The first server seemed to be more concerned with chatting with friends then his customers. We finally got our meals and the food was great, as usual. The server did a check and we asked for ketchup to go with the fries my daughter had. He took forever to get the ketchup and when I turned to see where he was, I saw him with his hand over top of a silver ramekin of ketchup - his palm was touching the top. Another server grabbed him and took the ramekin back to kitchen and served it on a plate in a proper manner. That server ended up taking over our table. She was more attentive but still quite slow. It took over an hour for a two sandwiches and a cookie. We put our order in with our drink order. The drinks came 10 min later and two minutes later the food came. The rest of the time was just waiting on the servers.
We will definitely come back with in the area.
Our server was phenomenal - her upbeat personality made my 9 year old daughter’s day.
Perfect Valentine’s Dinner Spot!
Great place for dinner before AMP! High energy and a bit on the noisy side, but festive, fresh atmosphere and great food!
I would recommend but be careful of when you go. We had to wait almost 30 minutes for a 1 pm reservation on a Sunday. Lots of people lounging around....which should happen on a Sunday afternoon...I wish they would factor that into the reservation process. Great atmosphere, decent food. Pricey.
If there were a 3rd choice of maybe I would select that. I like the atmosphere and food was ok. If I were in the area, maybe give it another try. Not sure if I'd go as far to recommend it. Founding Fathers is much better, food and service.
I made a reservation for 11:30am, but didn't get seated until 12pm. I went to the host area and they said they were running a few minutes behind. After 15 minutes, I had to ask again. We finally got seated, drinks took awhile to get. I ordered a side of bacon, but didn't come with the other dishes and had to ask for. There is only one ladies room for 2 restaurants and was very awkward to get to since you can't get there without going near the front door.
I thought there were people waiting in line in the bakery section since they were standing right in front. I looked over at someone working in that section who didn't even bother to acknowledge me and could have said, we'll be with you in a minute. It seems like it would be obvious they weren't ordering from the bakery from the staff's perspective. When I realized the people weren't in line, I finally ordered. There was some problem with the register so that took another 5 minutes. At least this other woman was pleasant and apologized for the delay. They were busy and clearly understaffed.
Reservations don't mean anything - we reserved an 11:30 time for brunch but weren't offered a table until 12:15
Waitress was terrible. Never checked on us. Had to ask for our drink and took so long for check. Poor waitress.
Another great meal with fantastic service from Phil and his team.
Summer House never disappoints!!
The restaurant is super cute and the service is great. Old wine selection. We tried several appetizers. Most were very good, but the tuna on a fried rice patty was a bit strange.
Front desk person warm and inviting. Surroundings attractive. Waitperson needs some improvement. Food excellent.
This was our first time at this restaurant and it was great! We will be back. The service was wonderful.
Overpriced average food. Service is below average and definitely not worth the price.
The staff is always amazing and helpful and courteous. With the three kids the food comes quick and tastes fresh and great.
Great restaurant but it was really busy when we went so maybe snack some before coming because we waited a bit for the food..
Shared a nice Sunday breakfast with my Lady. The food was well prepared. The coffee was good, including brewed decaf instead of instant. We both left happy.
Service was spotty at best. Food was ok. Wouldn’t recommend
Should be clearer on the website that do not serve a full menu for dinner on weekends until 5.
Food arrived after an hour and it was cold...
Overall good experience. Honored reservation on time. Food excellent and service attentive without being intrusive.
I usually go for happy hour, but on this visit, a couple of friends and I came for lunch. It was right around opening when there were only a handful of tables present. Drinks took a while to get to the table. When the food hit the table, it took a while for our server to check on us. Condiments and other things needed at the start of the meal weren’t tended to until about a little more than halfway through the meal.
Although service wasn’t that great, the food and ambiance made up for it.
Enjoyed our food, good service. Looking forward to returning.
The food continues to be over the top and the staff was great!
Good food and excellent service make a great experience. My friend and I went to Summer House for lunch. Our server, Peter, noticed the gift bag immediately and asked if we were celebrating an occasion. We told him it was my birthday. He brought us the Prosecco we ordered. When he came back to take our orders, we asked about the Prosecco. It was flat. He comped us two new drinks from an unopened bottle, at the 9 oz. size rather than the 6 oz. size we ordered! We both had the grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup. Excellent! Peter was attentive and friendly. He brought me a yummy cookie for dessert with a birthday candle. He told us about signing up for the Lettuce Entertain You app, which would save us money in the future. And, he showed us how to do it. I've been to Summer House before and always enjoyed the food, ambiance and service. I think this was my best experience there yet. I recommend it.
Great venue for breakfast or brunch. Creative menu with excellent choices and fresh presentations. The food was terrific as well! Bright and inviting atmosphere.
From the spicy and crispy salad to the perfectly cooked Scottish salmon to the the oats and apple cookie à la mode with vanilla bean ice cream, nothing could have been better except the exceptional service. Mariam was the loveliest and most attentive server one could ever have . The restaurant is managed by the charming Tyler and impressively run.
Excellent food! Superb service!
Enjoyed the food and service
We've been to Summerhouse many times. The menu is limited in options, and we're aware of that. However, since it was a Friday night, we were careful to book reservations. They were not honored, and we waited well over 30 minutes for a table. There were empty tables, and we could not get a reason that we couldn't have one.
It took 4 waiters/waitresses asked to get coffee, and that type of service applied to the food as well.
They are obviously not, in any way, ready for a busy night. Getting food and attention felt like a "fight." It was a very unpleasant evening. We will only go off hours, if we go back.
Service and food were wonderful as usual.
So here’s the thing: other Lettuce eateries produce good food. I’ve given this place 4 opportunities weeks/months apart to show they care, even a little bit, about their food. Presentation is sloppy, fish/burgers/buns dry and over cooked. Sautéd spinach is so covered with globs of who knows what kind of garlic paste that it’s inedible. I guess I could’ve talked with the manager, but if this was my experience each time I visited he’s probably heard this before.
The experience was average, the food was okay.
Love this place for brunch
We went to Summer House at noon on Sunday during Bethesda Restaurant week and it was very busy. There aren't a lot of soft furnishings and with the stone floor and the high peaked ceiling, it was difficult to hear my guest at times due to the "energetic" sound levels. We ordered from the menu and they serve breakfast until 1pm so we opted for that. I ordered the Avocado Toast with poached eggs and scallion mascarpone with micro greens over toasted brioche and it was amazing. It came with a small bowl with field greens. My guest had the American breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed that as well. The waitstaff was extremely attentive, personable, and friendly and we were never made to feel rushed during our meal. Can't wait to return.
Went there for Restaurant Week. The overall experience was very satisfying. Attentive, prompt and friendly service throughout. The food was good, fixed and specials menus. Would have liked more options on the menu, and for all dietary choices especially, since this is a west coast estab. However, what we ate was all very tasty and fresh. Guac+dips+chips, soup, salad, pasta, chicken sandwich, chocolate cake and drinks- all excellent. Will be back to try out the fsmous brunch soon!
Went to celebrate 50th birthday celebration for four life long friends. Service was extremely slow, kitchen got our orders incorrect three times. The tall male general manager came around to apologize for the hiccups - no amends offered. The kicker was that they overcharged us by $27-- thank goodness of the ladies looked!
I'd go back but probably not for a bit.
Long wait of table, even though we had a reservation. Ended up in a big table for a party of 3. Food with few choices. Very noisy
Small portions for high price. Quality was good.
Server was not very attentive, but food was good as always for a Sunday Brunch...
