Summer House - North Bethesda
Summer House evokes the breezy feel of a summer beach house with whitewashed wood, earth-toned tiling and warm hues. Glass garage doors along with a lofted ceiling and hanging string lights, bring the outside in – no matter the season.

The food at Summer House was very good—definitely high end. I would have preferred a menu containing more options. The waitress, although very nice and provided excellent service, was not familiar with the menu items. No worries for me but might be a training opportunity to help with more challenging customers. All n All...very nice experience.
Always enjoy the service and food at Summer House
This was my second time...brunch this time. Waiter, although finally got friendly, needs to pay attention to details. For instance, when serving coffee...bring a spoon; when water bottle is empty...bring a new one; when bringing something that was being shared among all at the table (4)...bring a small plate for everyone; when coffee mug is empty, or someone else at the table is requesting more coffee...ask if anyone else would care for more. These may be simple "overlooks", but help to bring the experience to a 5.
Enjoyed a wonderful dinner prior to a movie. Great food and service was just right. Will return.
Had a great meal for Rosh Hashanah. Superb food. Every dish was wonderful.
I took my son to here after church service to celebrate his 17th birthday. The food was just ok, and the service was rather slow and lacking. But the restaurant is cheerfully decorated with a very nice outdoor dining area in the hot Pike and Rose development. That alone is worth a lot. We will go back but with a dose of constrained expectation.
It was goog
I love Summer House. This has always been a favorite. Food was amazing as always, and the value for food is great. This past visit though wasn't too impressive, unlike the usual times. Our waitress was mainly distracted and wasn't attentive enough. I also wrote a note on the reservation about celebrating two birthdays and didn't even receive anything. Wasn't asking for freebies, but the least our waitress could have done was show us the dessert menu or acknowledge the birthday people. Maybe next time will be better.
It took almost 50 minutes to get our appetizers which seemed excessive. We had three starving kids that were getting hangry. Waitress was great but service was SLOW.
weather permitting it's most pleasant to sit outside. Service is a bit slow though.
Summer House is always a pleasure. The staff is super friendly and the hosts that greet you are friendly and sincere
I would definitely recommend Summer House to friends and family. The ambiance was fun... The place was booked and quite lively, but we were taken on time! The staff was very friendly and accommodating, especially our server, Jennifer. Prior to making our reservation I had read reviews from past patrons... interesting to note they went from "totally awesome 5's"....to "wouldn't visit again"; and some were actually from the same evening. I figured we'd give it a shot and we were glad we did. Food a little pricey, but not too terrible. The food was very good: two of us had trout, one chicken (a wee small), and one salmon. We all thought our meals tasty. I substituted my side for a house salad...just a little disappointed it was only a little bowl of some greens, but it sufficed. The gigantic cookies...too good (thank you JoEllen). Looking forward to returning soon.
Service was slow despite it being 3PM on a Saturday. Food was mediocre for the price. Drinks were better than the food but took us a good 25 mins to get our drinks.
For the first time at Summer House, we were not happy with our food. I ordered the Halibut and it came dry, with a thik layer of carbonized fish on one side (it was over-grilled). Main courses were served at different times. We were not satisfied.
I was seated at 3:45, and no one acknowledged me until finally a Manager came over at 4pm and I recieved a drink menu. I would have left but I was waiting for someone. My friend was served her prosecco and I had to wait an additional 10 minutes for my sangria. Waiter forgot part of my order and soup felt like it came out of the fridge. This was one of the worst dining experiences that I had to endure.
The guacamole and cocktails and ambiance were great. The $36 halibut was over-cooked - seared 'til leathery on both sides and underseasoned. Somewhat of a disappointing visit, overall.
I love Summer House, but I always walk away feeling as if there isn’t much on the menu that I want to order. I was looking for a veggie/impossible burger on the menu, but there was none. Instead, there were three different beef burgers listed. No grilled chicken sandwich. I had to ask if I could get some bread. Then, I had to ask for butter. The portions were small given the price. I left with a sense that the restaurant is pinching pennies. Our service was great and the food came out quickly. The best part of going to Summer House is visiting the bakery!
Beautiful day sitting outside. Our server was amazing. She made great recommendations and everything was delicious.
Went for lunch. Waited 40 minutes for our meals. Had 2 turkey sandwiches which the toast was burned. Also had hash brown potatoes which were soaking in oil and burned!
I have been eating here every Sunday since pike and rose opened. I enjoy the staff and they recognize me and are very kind and curtious. However, the quality and portion of the food is decreased significantly this summer. Is as if someone made a decision to make more money from the loyal customers and give less.
The area is getting more restaurants as it expands. Your management should be careful about getting greedy and cutting corners.
All food was too salty (and I really liked to lay on the salt). We had the lobster mushroom noodles (too salty and incredibly fishy like it had fish sauce in it), the poke lettuce appetizer (so incredibly salty), and the tater tots with lemon aioli (tots delicious but already had so much salt that the probably normal amount of salt pushed me over the edge here). The lemon aioli was very good and the best part of the meal.
Service was great even though it was incredibly busy. Ambiance is awesome but it would have beeni nice to have a candle on the outside tables after it got dark.
Overdone burger, tasteless tuna, and expensive short pour of wine. Used to be much better.
Usually love this place, things were off tonight. Service was mediocre, drinks too tart and the halibut was very dry. We watched it sit while the expediter motioned for the servers to get their food. Waited 6 minutes until the waitress returned with cream and honey for my tea. Disappointed.
Menu has dropped some favorites, but what is on offer is still quite good. For some reason this time the service was unusually slow. Took about 20 minutes for meal to arrive. Manager was kind enough to take our favorite cookies off the bill after we waited nearly 15 minutes for them to be warmed. They usually do etter.
The food was well cooked, good wine selection, great for medium to large parties, and the service was great. Our server was courteous, attentive, and conversational.
Food was a bit slow to come out. But other than that, it was great service by Regina and food by the kitchen!
Celebrated baby’s birthday!
We went for my birthday. Other than acknowledging the birthday at check in, nothing else was mentioned or done. I didn’t have high expectations but what was the point in asking?
The service was pitiful. All dishes were late and/or wrong, and dishes were brought to us at varied times. For example, we waited for our drinks an inordinate amount of time. We were then served an appetizer to share but no extra plates were provided until we asked. Moreover, we were served the main fish but our sides came out minutes later.
Lovely ambience.... Staff was friendly and attentive. Food was was pretty good. Would def come back!
Over-priced and timing if service was way off, but the ambiance is really nice.
My wife’s order was wrong twice which is pretty disappointing for a sandwich that doesn’t seem so complicated to get right.
Mine was at least good even though portion size seems to have changed
I went there to celebrate my birthday with friends on a Saturday night. Our servers switched halfway through the dinner and the original server didn’t notify us. Our order was incorrect. Not likely to return.
Worst experience ever. They can’t get an order right. Had to send it back twice. If you get manager Giovanni Jimenez just walk out. He does nothing.
Messed up our order. Hostess took forever even though it wasn’t packed. I don’t intend on coming back.
The food was excellent and the service was great.
This is my second visit and I’m just not enamored with the food. My friend and I each had a ribeye and they were both very fatty and very rare when we ordered medium rare. The cauliflower mash was tasteless but the spinach was good. The coffee was very watery... not strong at all.
I wouldn’t go here again. It’s an attractive dining room and the service was great but the food was very mediocre- especially for the price.
Horrible. Keep getting orders wrong. I’m done.
