I've been to Summer house several times. I've had good meals and experiences and not good meals and experiences. Overall, this one was not a good experience. Food was subpar. Service was good and the best part of the whole thing was sitting outside. It will be awhile before I return.
Tuna burger was a winner. Mixed salad with chicken, bacon and avocado less so unfortunately. Very skimpy on the bacon, cheese and chicken for the price.
We had the most beautiful experience this Sunday for brunch, visiting the Summer house. We already love the menu, but this time i discovered and tried the Acapulco omelette and it was delightful. The coffe is very good so it was the classic waffle and chicken that my fiancé always order .If i had to say something is please give spoons or something to stir the coffee :) .Kristi is one of the best servers we ever had ,most attentive but not invasive and so fast .She definitely was a huge factor in our perfect experience.
I have been to Summer House many times over the last several years. Unfortunately, something has happened to the service at this restaurant, and it is a shame. During my last visit, when we ordered drinks, a prosecco was brought in a wine glass, and it was flat. We waited another 10 minutes after the prosecco was brought for our mixed drinks. Twice during our time at the restaurant a server brought food to our table that we had not ordered. Our appetizer order was delivered promptly, but our main course order took over 45 minutes to deliver to the table. I'll have to think twice before going back to Summer House
Pretty bad hostess !! Even though you have a reservation they say wait. Pretty nice place unfortunately terrible welcome.
Food was good, but service was not. Waiter seemed impatient, didn't bring milk for coffee, then was annoyed when we asked for it. (He said we didn't mention it when we ordered.) Other servers seemed better so I wouldn't write this place off, but I'd be reluctant to recommend it.
Very limited menu at dinner. Poor service.
Great ambiance and really good food! The outdoor seating is super relaxing 😎
Birthday wasn’t even acknowledged even though it was clearly marked. Food not prepared as ordered.
Thanks A LOT to the owners of the Summer House chain that they make sure we were celebrating Rosh Hashanah 2018 in style. The food was great; the service was outstanding from the hostess, chefs, to servers, and to the management. The desert should have been called not the "apple Galette" is pie "to die for "!
We went to Summer House for the Rosh Hashanah dinner. This was supposed to be an all-you-can-eat except for the entree. When we requested more bread, we were told there wasn't enough for us to get any more. We would have saved some of the small roll for the chopped liver if we had realized that was all we could get. Challah is an important part of the holiday and they should not have run out. The gefilte fish was served ice cold. I think mine had crystals on it. The short ribs entree was well-liked but my fish was dry. When we ordered dessert for our party of four, the waitress brought two desserts and said we could get more if we wanted to, which I thought was odd. The desserts were not gigantic. She did bring us the additional desserts we requested. The matzoh ball was good but the broth was somewhat bland. Except for the short ribs, the food was forgettable. Our server was excellent, and offered to replace my dry fish, but I wasn't interested. I am in no hurry to return, especially as the short ribs are not on their regular menu, although the fish and chicken entrees are. If you are going to have a special menu, at least research the holiday and make sure you have enough of the holiday foods available. They gave me a card for their Passover Seder next spring, but I am afraid they will run out of matzoh.
The gnocchi was just bad, it was such a disappoint. My children however finished every bite on their plate.
Brought a friend as I had told her how great it was and she was happy to find a wonderful new restaurant for visitors. Staff knowledgable about menu and food was great. Very pretty venue and love it when weather permitting the outside seating is available.
All four diners ordered the same salad which was delish- chicken, corn, avocado, bacon, etc; but three of us were served very quickly and accurately. The fourth had to send hers back after she had expressly told the server she was allergic to onions. Although there was no indication on the menu write-up, the top of the salad was covered with cut scallions, which are onions. The chef redid the salad, but our server, who was new, had no way of knowing that there were onions, and he actually inquired in the kitchen prior to taking our fourth diner's order. Although she waited a while for the redo, she enjoyed her finally onion-less salad very much.
All in all, our server was very efficient and personable, and we all had a lovely time.
I love the customer service, but the food was sub-par. The place is fancy and really nice but that’s all there is. The dessert was good.
I have food allergies and always feel safe when eating here, they use tiny flags to note allergies, plus the food is great!
Food was great.
Got the guacamole for the table
Medium well burgers - added cheese and bacon - moist and flavorful
Nonalcoholic drinks were sparse so got 2 Minute Maid Lemonades
Got the Apricot/Fruit Punch cookie upon exit from the front
With the exception of other nonalcoholic beverage options everything was great
It was just OK
I was disappointed they didn't have the poke bowl, which is on their brunch menu on the website. This was the main reason I dined here. Instead, I got the $27 salmon plate with a side salad, which was lightly dressed lettuce and kale, nothing more. The whole plate was bland, no salt. Add tax and tip, and I left feeling completely ripped off.
My friends and I had a great time. The food was great. There were options for everyone. I’m pretty sure the English muffins are made in house. There were amazing. The herb butter with the chicken and waffles was perfect.
Appetizer of tostadas was a rip off... so small and it’s listed as shareable; trout was mediocre . Best thing is location and outside seating
This was my third visit and found that both the food and service was not consistent. The taco fish was dry as was their hamburger. The service is slow. I returned one dish and waited a long time and frankly lost my appetite.
Great brunch. Good food. Good service. Good ambiance 👍🏻
Found out you took the sushi off the menu!! Was so bummed. But my salad was good.
Food was outstanding and service exceptional can’t wait to visit again
The food is good as always, but the attitude of the service staff is atrocious. Several people were rude, including one waiter who said “do I need to stand here all day” when we didn’t see him for a moment. Rudeness from multiple wait staff suggests a very poor culture rather than an isolated incident. Worst service experience I have had in any restaurant for a very long time.
I've been to summer house several times but this past experience was my first time having brunch and it was solid.
Always a good place to eat. Brunch food is just as good as everything else they serve. It was lovely to sit outside on the patio. Terrific pleasant service.
My wife and I have never had a bad experience at Summer House. This time we went for dinner to get out of the house for the first time since my son was born. The service staff was excellent as usual and despite the noise that comes with a restaurant in a Saturday night, out son slept in his car seat like a champ. Overall a fantastic meal as usual and a great date night with my family.
We had such a great experience at Summer House. The food was delicious. Perfect portions. Great recommendations by our waiter. Service was superb. We will definitely be dining here again!
EXCELLENT AS USUAL.. i wish i could get the salmon poke salad with tuna instead . wait staff very nice and helpful. will come again.
This is such a beautiful California-style restaurant here on the east coast; very refreshing. I love the summery vibe and the food and wine are always great. Nice place to catch up with friends.
Popped in for lunch earlier this week. I had the organic tomato pomodoro pasta, so simple yet executed very well! My friend had the Ahi Tuna Melt which he enjoyed very much. Atmosphere is really cool! A great addition to the North Bethesda scene. Can't wait to come back for dinner sometime!
My waitress was great! It was my friends birthday and she brought us a cookie!
The menu looked impressive but everything fell flat. This outing was on the final night of restaurant week and I had high hopes but a lot went wrong. The server was nice but didn't go out of her way at all to sell the menu. With so many unique options I wanted to know more but she never gave any background. The food was pretty bland and took a long time for pretty basic dishes - a chicken and a burger. I had asked about the Bolognese but after the server described it I was dubious and got something else. Even just getting a box to go took 10 minutes. The decor inside is nice but it pretty much ends there. Would not recommend.
Wonderful time with my boyfriend. Brunch food was ABSOLUTELY phenomenal. And the passion margarita was the best margarita I have had (make sure you squeeze the lime in!). Cannot wait to go back again. Would definitely recommend their Mexican Hash browns dish.
Awful service, too loud to hear our friends when they spoke, unimpressive menu. A $22.00 half chicken should come with more than 1 side
Summer House really makes me feel like I'm in southern California for a meal. The decor and atmosphere are stunning, and the staff is amazingly nice and accommodating for allergies, noting which menu options are already allergy friendly, or can easily be altered to accommodate.
I have been to this restaurant many times and have always had a good experience. The only issue I had this time was I had brought my dog with me, so asked to be seated outside. The hostess sat us at a table for two people in the middle of the patio and I had asked if we could move to a table that seated four in the corner so that my dog would have more space and not be in the way of other customers and wait staff. She said she couldn't move us there as we were only a party of two. My dog ended up being in the way of the wait staff several times as we were seated right in the path of their other tables. Later, we saw a different host sit a party of two at one of the larger tables we had asked to be seated at. Not a huge deal, but I would figure having a dog would warrant us being worthy of more space. The food was good as usual and our waiter was attentive enough as the restaurant was busy.
Good food and service. However, they were out of a dessert we ordered (tiramisu) they made a replacement suggestion and then charged the higher price of the replacement for a dessert they didn’t have. Restaurant could have made points by explaining this or substituting at the original price. Not a huge deal, but this is attention to detail that was missing.
