It's summer year round at Summer House Santa Monica. Don your finest Lululemon and chambray in an upscale dining environment.
The food was outstanding. The ambiance can't be beat.
My mom and I had a lovely brunch experience. The food was all delicious and our server was very attentive and helpful. Thanks!
Our tacos and wine were fantastic! Had a great dinner
They were running late by about 15 minutes on all lunch bookings but were extremely pleasant and charming so we didn’t mind waiting. Food was great and so was service. It’s clearly VERY popular for weekend brunch so I wouldn’t advise here if you’re looking for somewhere quiet and intimate
I love the Lettuce Entertain You group. It was my first time at Summer House and I enjoyed it. It was a great place for brunch with my girlfriends.
Over cooked food
once again, really great. Absolutely love those tuna tostadas -- and we had the grilled shrimp which were also very good, and those carmelized brussel sprouts: wow!!!! We weren't going to order dessert but the waitress convinced us to try to lemon custard with sliced almonds and whipped cream. Oh my! Was that ever delicious. So. . .I always want to try new restaurants, but continually feel myself drawn here whenever I'm at Steppenwolf.
If you haven't tried this, you should.
I love this restaurant! I will be back again and again!
The service, staff, and food were all great! I love this place
I think our server was asleep during courses! We sat a long time after ordering a drink then only one drink cane. Then he waited at least another half hour to take our order. Appetizer cane then lunches at least half our longer. Dessert cane in a “to go” bag. And had to request coffee. One too many desserts cane and we still got charged. Too frustrated to say anything in fear it would be another 20 minute wait! I usually don’t have that much time for lunch but was enjoying the nice sunny room. First time the service was like this.
Summer House offers a refreshingly light yet delicious menu in a beautiful open air space.
Food is not as good as in the past. Salads had very little taste. Need to bring the biscuits back. One of the poorer Let Us Entertain You restaurants in Chicago.
We were celebrating a birthday. Good food and wonderful atmosphere.
The service was very, very slow and when we finally got the food three out of four meals were cold and had to be recooked! Took three hours for a routine meal.
Great for kids! Our one year old got the silver dollar chocolate chip pancakes for kids and ate all of it. I LOVE the roasted vegetable hash with tarragon aioli and husband got the short rib hash and said it was amazing. Our server was attentive and friendly and everything came out perfectly and in the exact fashion we would expect at Summer House. We will be back every Saturday, as usual!
Been here a few times, & it never lets me down. Great service, great food always.
Dinner was delicious and ambiance amazing but you reported to Open Table that we didn’t show up for our reservation. Wondering why?
Waiter was so warm & nice...love the space. Food amazing consistently
Great restaurant for lunch or dinner. I had the emerald kale salad with chicken and it was delicious. So fresh and light with tons of flavor.
Only two complaints and these are my first complaints ever for here. My son got the spaghetti and meatballs. And the sauce was not good. He wouldn’t eat it. I tried it and it tasted like sauce right out of a can, I understood why he couldn’t eat. Waiter took it back and ordered my son another meal. He told us he wouldn’t charge us but he did I didn’t say anything since you shouldn’t get money off for not liking your food. But just don’t tell me you won’t charge me and than do.
Second was my mom ordered an ice coffee and it came with about two ice cubes. Maybe it was made and sat to long?
But I will continue to come back since the food and service are usually great. This was just an off day for my waiter maybe.
Over all happy with our experience, we did however have a reservation at 8 and did not get seated till 8:20. Worth the wait! A little disappointed they have removed the fried calamari appetizer, loved it.
Always a pleasure and delicious
We stopped in for lunch when we were in the area. Valet parking is a big plus-even at lunch. Beautiful minimalist space with high glass ceiling gives a very open feeling. Food is tasty and ample. Small outdoor seAting area and fresh baked goods available. Gluten free menu and bread options. Good for a sandwich or salad - don’t look for many large plate entrees.
The food and service was amazing.
My food came wrong but they quickly fixed it and the manager provided dessert for free. Everyone was pleasant and nice.
The Brussel Sprouts were half cooked and we didn't finish them. Our medium rare steak was charred almost completely black on the outside. (it was a very good cut which is what saved the meal at all, but they had run out of our first choice of the filet) Only the sushi and mashed potatoes were at all worth the cost. Made a reservation and requested a booth, but was never even offered the option to wait for one to become available and was seated at a hightop bar table with rather uncomfortable chairs. Won't be returning.
Great place for a special brunch.
Our reservation was no honored. We had 8pm reservation and was told they were 15 minutes behind. We left at 9pm when 4 parties were still ahead of us. We got a text at 9:20 asking to come back for our table.
It was a busy Saturday night, however, it was an unreasonable wait. Our 7:30 reservation was finally sat at 8:15 after multiple discussions with host and escalating to manager. The manager bumped us to the front since we had after dinner plans at 9:20. We put our food order in immediately after being sat and still didn’t have dinner by 9pm. Food was very good although we had to eat it so quickly that it was a disappointing experience. A free appetizer and glass of wine was a nice gesture but overall still dissatisfied with our night out to dinner.
Had a reservation for 7:30 and had to wait a full hour before we were seated. Restaurant was apologetic and comped a burrata plate.
Food was okay and on par with a Chili’s or TGIF. Server was nice and restaurant looks nice. Spicy tuna roll was very bland and my steak was not cooked to the temperature I requested and meat quality was poor.
Great service! Cozy booth in the corner and a delicious meal!
Fantastic Lincoln Park restaurant with a ton to offer for all crowds. Good variety for kids meals and adult meals alike. The bar, especially rose, is a nice touch and my family and friends are consistently pleased. Thank you SHSM!
Twenty minute wait for reservation. Food was mediocre. Steaks were overpriced and not good. Screaming kids at 8pm.
Creative, refreshing drinks. Excellent service. Beautiful setting.
The portion of the special, halibut, was really small for the price and the flavor was just okay. Also, the chicken tacos and fries were over cooked.
Great ambiance and interior decor for a winter meal... fresh, summery/spring vibe. Food is filling but light. Great to share, love the rose options.
Great but for one item. Tried to make reservation for 1215 and only time available was 1130. Restaurant was mostly empty at 1215
Our family of 5 thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at Summer House SM. You feel truly transported into the "beachy" world of So Cal when you walk in the door. Bright and airy, the decor is pretty and welcoming. On a cold Chicago evening, it really felt like we were someplace else! The service was exceptional. Our server and food runners were all terrific, very attentive and friendly. The food was delicious. Very fresh, nice presentation, and very tasty. Some of the prices were a bit high with an order of guacamole coming in at $14.95, but I guess this is to be expected at a trendy, Lincoln Park hot spot. All in all we found everything to be to our liking and were glad we dined at Summer House!
Great place — love sitting in the Atrium (Vitamin D Room). My food was delicious and will definitely go back again.
One of my favorites! Always enjoy the brunch overtime I'm in town!
