Hello I visited your restaurant on Mother’s Day. I reserved a table for 3 under Brandie Granson for 1:15. Upon arrival I noticed that it was a buffet style option for the day. So we continued to stay and dine with you guys, but the good was such a disappointment. We arrived at 115 we seated and no new food was put out. Everything me and my part ate was cold and not fresh. I’m not the one to complain but when I got my ticket,I noticed the buffet was $50 per person. That was outrageous for the cold non-fresh food we were served. The same no new crabs were put out, it was the same old cold bacon the mashed potatoes along with that red creole sauce. This buffet had potential until the people who were coming in after church had to eat cold food and on top of that pay $50 person. It was horrible and I just wanted to let management know that on Mother’s Day that is unacceptable for someone to spend their money on
Took my grandmother and mom out for Mother's day and overall the experience was great. My grandmother stated she felt as if she wasn't even in Beaumont. The food selection for the day was good and the music was just right. Will definitely visit next time I'm in town.
Food was good, service was very poor, music was way too loud. It took ten minutes for anyone to come to our table after we were seated, I could not hold a conversation with my date because the music was way too loud. Our drinks were not filled the entire time we were there, I’m assuming because our young Hispanic male waiter was too busy talking to his coworkers at the bar.

Shocked and disappointed. I had been to the restaurant several times and the experience was always great...we even hosted an engagement party on the patio before. We 've referred several people...much to our surprise when we went there this past Sunday for Brunch it was like a totally different experience in which I had never seen . Service was very slow and poor, it was like 16 of us and 1 server...when we finally got the food...it was cold...i was extremely disappointed and confused
Best shrimp and grits we have hd to date, including restaurants in New Orleans. The pecan encrusted goat cheese salad is excellent as well as the crab cake salad.( lots of crab, not just filler)
To start off, no one greeted us for the first 10 minutes. Then the drinks took a while..mind you we were the only table in this place. After we ordered...all.we could here was the loud kitchen staff yelling and slamming pots. The food that was served would barely pass as being called food. It tastes and looked like something that was rehydrated out of an MRE. Outrageous excuse for an upscale restaurant. The server was nice, just not competent on menu. I understand this place has been open for like a decade. I do not know how. They should shut down if they are going to keep serving the same MRE food.

Food was decent but overpriced. Service was good. Band was entirely too loud. Couldn’t even have a conversation at the smallest table they offered.
Average food. Below average service. Enjoyed the entertainment but the volume was way too loud.
We order 4 different drinks from the bar and they were all terrible, could not finish any of them. Spoke to the waiter after sending the 3rd drink back. They still came out mixed horribly. The food, setting and the talent were all wonderful.

I planned a special Valentine's date for my wife that was a horrible experience we had a reservation for 8:30 stayed til 10 didn't get any food just bread and water i had to go to wataburger for Valentine's day and i use to love sugas.

We have been to Suga's many times and love the place very romantic and sexy. But my experience this Valentines Day was the worst I ever experienced any where. The "special menu" was extremely over priced not to mention the wait for an hour for a drink and two and a half hours for food. People were walking out because we all experienced the same thing. My husband ordered the quail it was half a quail. How do you half a quail for 75.00? They tried to cram as many there as they could without the staff. Very sad it ruined a lot of people's special night. I get special nights all the time but I know a lot of people can't afford something like that all the time. Sad.
I’ve been here before and everything was always great. On this Valentine’s Day, not so much. I made a reservation for 8:15pm two weeks in advance and my wife and I were seated not long after we got there. We thought “Cool! Going to a place by reservation on a typically busy night would ensure not waiting all night to eat.” We were wrong. First of all, they had a “special valentines” menu with only four, expensive entree options to choose from. They failed to advertise that they’re regular menu was not available. I wouldn’t have any booked had I’d known that. We didn’t get any of our food until 9:45pm, and they close at 10pm. And the food was not hot or well seasoned like it normally is at this restaurant, not to mention we didn’t get our dessert. But, with all that said, the waitresses were really nice and professional considering they were in an awkward position trying to serve a room full of cold customers waiting forever to get there food. Like I said before, the service here is always top notch, so everything to be going so poorly, something out of the normal must have occurred. Maybe they took too many reservations and we’re overbooked, or just short staffed in the kitchen. Either way, they did give us $50 gift cards to use there in the future as well as not charging us anything for the subpar food once it did come. They probably lost a good amount of money that night, and the fact that they tried to take care of us the best they could, proved they care a lot about customer satisfaction. So all in all, I would recommend this restaurant to everybody, because I imagine after this, they will never let that happen again.

Awful! The worst valentine’s dinner ever. Service, food, value were horrible. The music from the young man was the best thing going for the evening. I paid $75 per meal for us two, but it wasn’t worth $7.50. Won’t try that place for a special seating again.
After my stellar review only last Saturday night, I brought more colleagues for dinner this past Tuesday. The “C” Team (not even the “B” Team) was running the show. There was no part of the experience that worked; not food, not service. We wondered aloud if we were being pranked!? Better to close during the week, than ruin your reputation.
The staff was very friendly and very accommodating of my dietary requests. I will definitely stop by this restaurant again when I am in the area.
A true taste of the south. In a hurricane damage challenged region like East Texas, Suga’s is a gem. Classy surroundings, attentive service, fine food and heartfelt jazz.
Very pleasant evening; our server, Carson, knew we had symphony tickets and made certain our order was monitored to make our dining experience relaxing and nicely paced. We’ll be back.
This was the second time that the wife and I visited and both times were wonderful.
Only 3 tables and we were there 2 and 1/2 hours... Food was passable but not outstanding
First, the bus boy spilled water in my wife's shoulder and into her purse trying to refill her water. Then, two of our four orders were wrong. Waffles were cold. Two other tables next to us also had the wrong orders. Also, I had to ask for coffee refills.
Not sure what was going on today but it was an off day.
Great ambience! I tried coq au vin chicken with grits. It was horribly salty. However, the portion was generous. The entertainment was excellent, pianist Undrai Frazier. I’ll go back and order my usual. No more experimenting with food dishes.
Restaurant was "slammed" on Friday night but table was ready on time. It took 15+ min for bottle of wine to show up. Order for appetizers came in reasonable time. Main entrees came one at a time and were not hot, some pretty cold. Their version of Coq-a-Vin over grits was intriguing so I tried it. Came in a large deep bowl with wings and thigh covered with gravy and a few vegetable on top. The dish was so salty it was inedible. I don't often do this but had to send it back. It was cheerfully remade but took 20 min. I'm not sure if the waitperson or kitchen crew was at fault - just think they couldn't handle a large crowd.
Took my wife for New Years Eve dinner and had an excellent time. The environment was perfect for the date I had planned. My expectations were exceeded by far. This was our first visit to Suga's and we were not disappointed. The music was pleasant and not too loud. The ambiance was every bit as romantic as I had hoped for. I highly recommend this place for an upscale date.
It was everything I needed it to be to make my husbands birthday special. We will be there again soon.
The Seafood platter was excellent. Redfish and crab I rate 5 stars. The shrimp, 4 stars. Great service.
Been eating the same distance Everytime I come here and this is the first time I've ever been disappointed with the porch chops until now. The rest of the meal was really good besides noticing the goat cheese salad was smaller than it has been before. The goat cheese shrimp were awesome and the Perfect Manhattan was made exactly that. Suga’s is Beaumont Belle. A gem in a downtown that needs more life around, Sugas keeps me coming back for more!
I’ve eaten here a 1/2 dozen times and this was the first time I was disappointed on multiple levels - had reservation and place was only 1/2 full yet still had to wait 10 mins for table. Took another 15 mins to take our food order. Glasses were often empty and presentation of food was rushed diner like. The worst part was they were having heating issues and it was freezing the whole time. The only thing that kept me from walking out was the food was absolutely amazing.
Last night was our first time to visit Suga's and we were extremely disappointed. Upon arrival, the maitre'd had problems finding our reservation (this is after getting a confirmation call earlier that afternoon). The heater system was broken and the ambient temp was less than 60 and we had to keep our coats on to stay warm. After we were seated, we were requested to move due the table being reserved for a group. The service was slow due to due waitress overloaded (she was managing 3 or 4 tables plus a large group). The kitchen was slow or backed up. We ordered the appetizer sampler to be split between 2 people, it came out 15 minutes later on one serving platter but no small individual plates, so we used our bread plates (which wasn't a problem because they didn't finish cooking the bread until we were 80% finished with our entree and it was raw in the middle when we finally got it). After the appetizer, the waitress brought our dinner salads, which would have been very good it they were a little larger - the portions were about that of a garnish. I had Suga's Seafood Pasta and my wife had the New York Strip and Scallop special for entrees. My entree was pathetically over salted and greasy. My wife ordered her steak cooked a medium well, it was an excellent cut of beef but it was served medium rare and her side dishes were cold (probably due to the ambient temp). This whole experience was unfortunate, we really liked the entertainment and the ambiance. Most of all we are just really let down after having hopes of finding a fine food establishment in the Golden Triangle.
This place is nothing special, rib eye steak was so fatty that the waitress removed it from our bill. Save your $ and go to Saltgrass.
We were unable to stay because the volume of the music on the patio was totally unbearable. It was a pretty patio but the music really hurt my ears. We waited for 5-10 minutes for the volume to be turned down before we left. Sorry, can't recommend.
The $48 ribeye looked like the ones at Waffle House. It had good flavor but it wasn’t even close to a 16oz. ribeye. I specifically asked for a regular table and they put us at a high top. The waiter simply said oops I’m sorry. We were happy to pay for service and quality, sadly neither happened. But the flavor of the food was good.
