I love this place. Food is consistently tasty. Had a snapper that was delicious, the octopus and croquettes are delicious too. Our server was excellent. Chose a bottle of wine that was a little off. Changed it immediately without any fuss. And son’t Miss the buñuelo, which is really the most scrumptious French toast you may ever have.
I am truly disappointed,Sugarcane used to be one of our favorite spots in Miami certainly no more.We went for brunch today.I ordered an orange juice and eggs Benedict and coffee ,my daughter ordered sushithat was ok but not outstanding .My orange juice tasted bad so I told the waitress I was sending it back,she replied she was going to talk to the manager about it.The sushi came,we asked for ponzu she brought us the equivalent of a small spoon and a half for three rolls.I waited 30 minutes to get my eggs(after I asked for them,wondering if I would be getting food at all)they brought them undercooked and soggy.My coffee was cold,did not drink it.The restaurant had dirty floors(water spilled on the floor next to our table,never dried while we were there)fries on the floor by that same table and even though they had time to clean it between patrons they never did.I don't understand how a restaurant as good as Sugarcane use to be Was so bad today.By the way,I was still charged the orange juice.
Sugarcane is a high energy place with a great bar. The food is great and all their raw bar and sushi and scallops were super-fresh, some cool things in the Robata grill as well like the Korean short rib. Best way to go at it is order a few things to share as tough to decide what to go for.
Our reservations were for 8:15 and we arrived at 7:40. We were greeted and checked in by several hostesses. Emily said we could sit at the bar until 8:15, unless we wanted to sit then. We decided to enjoy the atmosphere at the bar since it was our first time there. We could not enjoy the outside area due to the heavy cigarette smoking, so we had to go inside. Our bartenders were knowledgeable and very attentive. It had been about 40 minutes, so I️ decided to check on our table. I️ was told they were getting it ready. After 15 minutes, one of the hostesses walked by me and I️ asked her about our table and she said they were clearing it off. After she spoke with a colleague of hers, she came over and said there was a problem, but they would get us a table right away. After another 10 minutes, I went up to the stand and I was told there were no tables available. At that point we decided to eat at the bar. The food was very good and we enjoyed our night. The only thing that I really want to mention is that we actually watched a bartender take a glass, fill it with water, take a sip, and put the glass back in the area to serve guests. I removed the glass before he could serve somebody with it! Disgusting!
Absolutely flawless in every way. From our handcrafted artisan-quality cocktails to expert execution plate after plate, to our knowledgeable and helpful server, to the relaxing Sunday morning atmosphere, there's SOOOO much to love about Sugarcane, and too much to eat, try and enjoy in one sitting. We'll definitely be back.
