Sugarbeet Ratings and Reviews
I have been to Sugar beet several times for special occasions and have never been disappointed. The food is excellent with beautiful presentations. We have always had excellent service. My only compaint was the noise level on the Saturday night that we were there, and there was not any large party that night. This is not a quiet restaurant.
Not impressed with this visit at all. Have dined here a few times before with much better result. Food was slow in arriving, and hit or miss. Tuna steak was overcooked and fishy - was supposed to be seared. Pasta dish was all congealed and stuck together into a lump. Short ribs were great. Service was slow and our waitress really didn't seem to get it and it wasn't very crowded. They did take the pasta dish off the tab. Not sure I'd recommend this place to anyone. There are much better dining spots in Longmont these days.
My parents live in Longmont, and highly recommended that my fiancé and I try out Sugarbeet for dinner on our recent visit. We were not disappointed. The food was wonderful, and the service was kind, relaxed, and knowledgeable. We had cocktails, appetizers, entrees, wine and desert. We didn't find a single flaw. We will be back, especially to try the newest specials!
SUGARBEET is Longmonts premier restaurant
The service was impeccable, the timing of the courses perfect, the food creative and delicious, and the wine choices did not disappoint
It is becoming one of my favorite restaurants as it is consistently excellent and always something new to choose from on the menu
We sent to Sugar Beet for our anniversary. We have been to Sugar Beet before and always love the excellent service and the delicious food. This visit was no different. We were seated promptly and had our drink order taken.
We could not wait to get the brussel sprouts, they are so good. I had the steak and my husband had the pork special. Everything was perfect. My only criticism is that everything was so good, we finished it all and didn't have room for dessert.
We'll be back!
We enjoyed our meal and the service was excellent. We had to wait just a few minutes for our table so they brought us each a really good glass of sparkling wine which was thoughtful. It was also our anniversary and the server included our sorbet desert on her. The entrees were delicious, meat perfectly cooked.
I'd been wanting to checkout Sugarbeet for quite awhile, based on spectacular reviews I'd read/seen a couple years ago. While it's taken me a while, it absolutely lived up to the reviews! It is in a very unusual location, but it's a very nicely done restaurant on the inside and on the patio. My friend and I chose to sit on the patio, because it was a beautiful day, and we also wanted to take advantage of happy hour, which is only available on the patio and bar area (the bar area is surprisingly large, and nicer than most.) It seems like a nice quiet restaurant, even on the patio, with the one exception being when a train passes, which is very, VERY loud. The food was delicious, the staff were friendly, and very attentive, and I am looking forward to returning there again very soon.
Excellent service. Good food. Interesting menu. We had avoided this restaurant because of an experience we had several years ago. They had just added a new area that was so noisy that we literally had to shout. And even then couldn't hear each other. This problem seems to have been addressed. This time it wasn't as noisy and we could talk to each other. We will come back soon.
So, I'm sure this place is lovely. I'm sure the food is delicious, and the ambiance is wonderful. However, when my girlfriend picked this off of the list of places we could potentially get a pre-homecoming dinner, I was not expecting what I got. The food is definitely on the pricey side, which is not really recommended for two broke high school kids, and not to be THAT GUY, but we picked this place from a search of vegan restaurants, but the only things we could eat were the salads, and we essentially subsisted on the bread. The bread was DELICIOUS. Other people's food smelled great. The decor was lovely. It's just not the best for two vegan lesbians trying to be real adults for the first time.
This was our third visit and, the first two would have been 4-4.5 stars if I had reviewed the restaurant then.
Unfortunately, this visit was extremely lackluster, and it came almost completely down to our server. She was inexperienced, impersonal, had trouble with the drink and specials menu, and seemed very wooden. Dinner felt a little rushed, which came as a surprise. It wasn't the relaxed, fun, casual fine dining experience we'd loved two times before.
Our bread plate came out with burned sourdough, which was not a deal killer but a bummer nonetheless for one of Longmont's premier fine dining establishments.
Our starters and our entrees were well-prepared and tasty. Plating, though, was fussy and a bit haphazard, and the plate used for one of our entrees was cluttered and difficult to work with.
We may give Sugarbeet another shot in the future, and I sincerely hoped our third time would be a charm. Sadly, it wasn't.
I have been to Sugar Beet three times and it seems to have declined in quality. We were there on a Saturday night, so we wouldn't have expected my husband's fries to be stale. Also, the portions were quite small. I ordered the scallops and had to have a snack when I got home. I ordered a glass of Malbec and it was the stingiest pour I think I have ever had in all my years of dining out. Our server, however, was friendly and professional. I am rooting for this place and hope they go back to what made them so appealing when they first opened.
Most likely the best fine dining in Longmont-- outstanding beer, wine,
and cocktails, innovative appetizers, seasonal salads and soups, entrees, and desserts-- the entire menu will not disappoint! The service is friendly and knowledgeable and eager to please. A steak entree which was a bit too rare was taken back to the kitchen when asked with a genuine apology and brought back medium well.
Sugarbeet is a gem and not to be missed !
