The Green Seafood curry over Rice noodles was very tasty! Also Great for those of us that are Gluten intolerant! The server was very attentive but not over intrusive! They may need a better bread for the table... while nice and garlicky, it was just a sliced wheat bread with the garlic sauce!
The Seafood Gumbo was well prepared but the tasty jasmine rice was swimming in the sauce , maybe ask for rice with Gumbo on the side? But overall a very nice dinner with my wife.
Please try this gem out!
We to Le Sugar Reef for Father's day with the family. We had a really nice Brunch. food was excellent and server was extremely nice.
Only one waiter in restaurant with a few big tables and us (2) and he was great
Food was good too
Ok place, right on beach, service great effort, too slow for me.
Food was very good except for the escargot. They were tough and fairly tasteless. It was a very rainy night so there were very few patrons. I think on a busy night it wou;ld be very noisy. The wine was excellent and reasonable.
Delicious food & beautiful view on the beach! The waiter was great, don't expect fast service here. This is a place where you come and enjoy and take your time to eat. Everything was great, the wine, the food, the apps, dessert! I got the Fish Stew which was fresh and made to order!
The ambiance was nice with the ocean breeze right there!
This place is definitely a "must" when you are in the Ft Lauderdale/Hollywood area. Very romantic, cute little restaurant with great food, very good service and beautiful views of the ocean. Also there is some interesting people watching on the boardwalk ;)
Food and service were excellent. Nice evening sitting on the terrace.
They didn’t rush you between courses and the food was great! You could tell it was all fresh
Waiter seemed uninterested in us and the food was not that great, nice atmosphere.
We went for dinner and the place was nearly empty. It took over an hour from when we ordered for the main course to arrive. The food was so-so. The escargot was chewy and flavorless. The sea bass special was over cooked and served with rice that was pretty bland. I wouldn’t go again. The only nice thing I can say is that it has a beautiful ocean view.
Dinner date with the beloved, Great evening out. Looking at the ocean with a great dinner. doesnt get any better then that !!
Didn't experience any of the recent negative comments. Food and service we're both good and my party of 3 will all come back.
Great view great service great food
Great little beachfront gem! Terrific service-can’t say enough about the lovely staff. Food was delicious, fresh, and creative. And very well priced. Highly recommend!
We were the first ones in the restaurant to eat. The staff greeted us right away. We were waiting for another person to join us and they let us sit outside facing the ocean and got us drinks. They did not rush us. The food was great with fantastic sides. We would definitly go again
Don’t go to this tourist trap. The service is horrible.
Nice dinner. Service was a little spotty.
Always a great experience there
Among all the restaurants of the broadwalk, Sugar Reef is the only one to propose a cooking elaborated from fresh products. What a delight !! Fresh products, delicious french food, impeccable and well-kept service, view on the ocean... Just perfect!!
Beautiful setting. Great food. Lovely staff.
We were there two nights In a row , food was great both nights, but the service was much better the first night , our server on the second night was stand offish , did t seem like he wanted to be there at all.
Moments parfaits
The food was excellent. The service was very attentive. The view of the ocean made this a great way to celebrate Valentines ‘s Day. The chocolate rose at the end of the meal was a nice surprise.
Always a great choice!
We went on Valentines Day and was very disappointed. They had changed the menu and only had 3 entres. I ordered rack of lamb and there were only 2 lamb chops. I won’t go back.
Excellent appetizers, tuna was overcooked, duck was tough! Service was excellent and attentive - but a gentle comment about the quality of the entree’s went unaddressed by management. Unfortunate.
Sugar Reef has been one of our favorite restaurants for years , but we were disappointed with one item at our latest dinner there. The mussels were not as good as we remembered them - too large and lacking the usual taste. Everything else - the snapper, beet salad, wine - were quite good.
Fish sandwich was super spicy
Lots of red pepper
Our guests had one spicy salad
Desserts were great
Excellent yet simple menu. Had mussels, corvina, and scallops - all superb. Very reasonably priced and super cordial staff.
Service was good, but the food was mediocre at best! We stopped and left after appetizers and salads.
Not a place for a party of 5 or more ....staff and kitchen could not keep up at all ....once the food came it was delicious ! Just I would not recommend larger groups there
Nice food, nice music, service was ok.
We had one of us who did not want to eat meat.
It would be great to have more choices for vegan or vegetarian people.
The single vegan salad could be improved.
The new owner was very present during the evening and this was very appreciated.
Speaking French with the owner war very cool. :)
Our 3rd New Years Eve dinner. Each year it just gets better. Food and staff are amazing. Quiet but not dull. Just what we wanted!
We have been coming back to Sugar Reef every year for many years. It was always the restaurant we chose for our first night back in Florida. And after that I would choose it for my birthday. And many times in between. It combined a delightful beach front location with a sophisticated and tasteful French Caribbean menu and a charming staff. Things seem to have changed. Although some of our favorites were still on the menu, the list seems to have been broadened and dumbed down to suit the tastes of tourists who want only the familiar and ordinary. And the service, while friendly, was no longer quite so acutely knowledgeable. I can understand the financial realities that drive these decisions. And we’ll give Sugar Reef another chance this winter. But we are already online and on Zagat looking for our new favorite French restaurant.
Tip was included in bill which we missed when we reviewed the bill. Waiter chased us down after we left to let us know that we had over tipped and adjusted the credit card amount. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!
Best restaurant on Hollywood Broadwalk and one of best for on beach ambiance with superior food
We have been to Sugar Reef four times over a six year period. Athough past visits were memorable, this last visit was very disappointing. The wait for food was interminable. Both entrees we selected had on the menu as a starch a risotto. Apparently there was some issue in the kitchen and as a result we were served - after an interminable wait, and no explanation - mashed potatoes. I don't particularly mind the substitution, but having it arrive late and unannounced was not good service.
No liquor license (only beer/wine) which we didn't know when booked. Food was good. Our server was good. Overall, nothing bad but not terrific either.
