Sugar Hill Inn Ratings and Reviews
We went to Sugar Hill Inn for our last night before selling our condominium in New Hampshire. Every part of our experience was outstanding. We had a table right in front of the fireplace, which was warm and inviting. Our meal began with a delectable crab cake amuse bouche. Next, my husband and I each had the trio of soups - potato bacon, cream of pumpkin and crab bisque - each one outstanding with interesting little accompaniments in them. The Caesar salad was served in a parmesan cup and was delicious. I had the filet mignon and my husband had a pork tenderloin - both were cooked to perfection and were truly delicious. We each ended with a warm brownie with ice cream and had hot tea and decaf coffee. We were very pleased with our experience. Every morsel from start to finish was wonderful. Our server, Kathy, was very attentive and friendly. An memorable meal in a wonderful setting.
Fine dining at its finest. Four or five courses of amazing food. Served slowly so that you can really relax and enjoy. I had the lamb entree and my husband had the trout. Both were amazing. Every course a delight!
Wine list could have been a bit better, says my husband. But other than that, no complaints.
We had a wonderful romantic weekend in a beautiful suite at the SugarHikk Inn topped off with our delicious and romantic dinner at the Inn.
Our only complaint was a little bit too long a wait between our 2nd course and our main dish. Also we had to wait about 10 minutes passed our reservation time and were not offered a drink. Other than that it was fantastic! The first was special and delicious!
We have gone here once or twice a year for many years. It is a special place. We have eaten in fine restaurants all over the world. It would be unusual to find a fine dining experience like this anywhere. The atmosphere is serene, the food superb (they have had the same chef as long as I can remember) and the owner Steve is very welcoming. They provide a four or five course prix fixe menu and all of the options and combinations of food are wonderful. We will continue to return for many years to come!
Our New Year's Celebration on January 1 was superb! We enjoyed each of the 4 courses immensely! My son in law has limited culinary preferences and therefore was hesitant to try some of the creative dishes. To our surprise he loved all his choices! It was a perfect evening with exceptional food, great music, a roaring fire and lovely holiday decorations. Jeremy, our wonderful server completed the memorable evening. We will recommend The Sugar Hill Inn to everyone.
Not knowing much about Sugar Hill we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and the beautiful ambiance. Every course was distinctive in flavor and presentation. As a chef, I appreciated the thought and care that went into each dish. Very romantic atmosphere and the chef came out at the end of our meal which I always take as a sign of integrity and professionalism. Highly recommend for a special evening.
My husband and I were in the area for a quiet, romantic long weekend getaway after Thanksgiving. We were staying at Rabbit Hill Inn in Lower Waterford, VT, and wanted to try another good restaurant. We found this on Opentable and it had wonderful reviews. The menu had some interesting and delicious sounding options, so we decided to give it a try. The staff was so very friendly and our server had some great recommendations. I am a picky eater, but ventured out and decided to try some of their unique dishes. I was NOT disappointed! My husband also enjoyed everything he ate. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxing. We had read that the restaurant has a European style philosophy where the table is yours for the night...so you aren't rushed at all. The space is small, so not many people can dine at one time, but there were a couple of smaller groups there. That made it a little louder than it might otherwise be, but I don't think it was too loud. There is a nice fireplace to make the space cozy and we chose to sit at a table that had small couches as the seats. We sat near a couple who had eaten at our Inn the night before and recognized us. They were staying at Sugar Hill Inn and have been there several times. They said the cottages there are lovely and we would love to check them out sometime! We would highly recommend dining there to anyone who appreciates good food and good service!
Inn is charming, our waiter was wonderful, and the food was great. The trio of soups my husband had as his first course was delicious! Mushroom and Truffle, Roasted Red Pepper. and Lobster and Mussel Bisque, it was hard to choose a favorite . We both had filet entrée - the steaks were tender and presented beautifully. It was worth the 40 minute drive from where we were staying. I highly recommend it. We would absolutely eat here again if we are in the area.
Very lovely dining spot situated in the quaint village of Sugar hill. We were seated by the window overlooking the garden of wildflowers with the scenic white mountains beyond. Prix fixe meal offered a very nice selection. Comfortable cozy dining room. Overall a perfect ending to our long day of hiking!
This was a gem, and we were treated like royalty. We were greeted by the friendly 'pup', Katie. The inn keeper, Stephen, greeted us warmly. We were a little early so had a drink at the bar. Nicely stocked, including champagnes by the glass, the bar surface was made of a marvelous birds-eye maple.
I had the Rye from Whistle Pig. It comes in a 10yr variety, aged in Caribbean casks. An excellent libation. We were treated to a variety of romantic standards (Etta James, Sinatra, Buble, etc). I booked for Sunday night. We were in Sugar Hill for the weekend. I had at first looked for Saturday night, but it was full. We were delighted to be almost alone on Sunday! The table we chose had two wonderful 'couch' chairs that were scrumptiously comfy.
The menu was prix fixe with either four of five courses.
The chef was phenomenal. Each dish was carefully prepared, with amazing flavors and textures. It is not often that you find a restaurant using 'sous vide' or 'under vacuum'.
While deciding on our choices from the menu, we were treated to a dollop of home-made blueberry sorbet with a fresh blueberry on top, served in a 'shot glass' of ice to keep it cool.
My fiancee had the arancini to start and I had the truffle and mushroom ravioli. Both were superb. Next we each had the Caesar salad with mini croutons. A more delightful vegetable course, I can't ever recall satisfying me more than this one.
We chose a 2010 Brunello di Montalcino (Tuscan) from Banfi. It was about a third of the cost of the meal. More modestly priced choices are available. A perfect complement to our meal. Our next course were the lamb chops (me) and the tenderloin (her). An amazing course and beautifully prepared. Finally dessert. For me, I chose the cheese platter (amazing), and she chose ... Baileys. The size of each dish was perfect. I want to enjoy each course, savor the flavors, and appreciate how they complement each other, and this meal was that and so much more. Thank you.
Perfectly attentive service and caring owner. Inventive and thoughtful food and flavor pairings. Small and romantic atmosphere. The Sugar Hill Inn is a diamond in the White Mountains. We enjoyed every dish and will be returning. This was one of the best dining experiences we have had in the continental United States.
My wife and I have eaten at many fine restaurants throughout the world, and none are finer than this gem in the White Mountains. The view is fantastic from every window in the cozy restaurant. The owner Steve is quite proud of what he has built here and rightfully so. Chef Val's creations are unique and flavorful. The wine list, while not extensive, has been carefully selected. Our waiter Jeremy was wonderful and took care of our every need. While certainly not inexpensive, the wonderful evening was worth every dollar spent as we lingered and enjoyed every mouthful for nearly three hours. I cannot say enough good things about the Sugar Hill Inn. You must go and experience it for yourself!
Our dinner at Sugar Hill Inn was nothing less than amazing. We loved the relaxed atmosphere and spent almost 2 1/2 hours enjoying our 5 course meal. We never felt rushed and by the end of the dining experience I was not overly full as the portions were perfect size. Large enough to really enjoy the dish but small enough I was always ready for my next course. All our courses were delicious although some of them were very out there so be ready to try something different if you do not dine like this often. I cannot even begin to praise the wait staff had as they were always attentive and very helpful in meal choices. I highly recommend Sugar Hill Inn for a lovely dining experience with a great view.
