Sugar Hill Inn
Everything was excellent - service, food, atmosphere. We even went back the next night! Highly recommended and worth every penny!
A true gem nestled in the beauty of the White Mountains. The Inn is beautifully designed: subtly elegant yet it retains the character and history of its 1789 origins. The charm of the dining room with its stone fireplace, the sophistication of the menu, and the graciousness of its host makes it well worth the drive to Sugar Hill.
The ambiance is superb. Food ingredients are very good, food is more on the plain side...
The dog is super charming, the BEST dog will greet you at the door and stays on the other side of the door.
Christmas Eve dinner. Perfect. I will definitely be back.
Lovely old inn, beautiful dining room with fireplace. Only one waitress for the room but the table seating is staggered so it works ok. Would be better with more waitstaff. Food and wine quite good. Will go back.
Our expectations were high but we must have hit an off night because our concerns were experienced by others in attendance that evening. Our rack of lamb roasting temp requests weren't accurate. I.e., my rare was more done than spouses med rare, potatoes cold. No apologies from wait staff who did offer to reheat. Other guests had similar experiences. Overpriced. I hear restaurant has good rep so Maybe it was an off night. I did submit a survey card and left it at front desk.
Great ambiance and great service. Very accommodating for a gluten allergic patrons. Excellent food and generous portions.
Leaf Peeping in the Fall, away from the crowd
We went on an autumn weeknight--probably not the busiest time. The dining room was quiet and understated, with plenty of space between diners. Host and server were friendly, but reserved, and allowed us to enjoy our meal. Service was excellent. We had a four course prix-fixe, very reasonably priced, and each course was very well done. We particularly enjoyed the entrees, which were perfectly prepared. Overall an excellent experience, and well worth the trip to a relatively out of the way spot.
A delicious dinner, exquisitely presented, was served to me at a private table. The owner's dog came and sat by my feet, providing welcome companionship as I was traveling alone. A warm, friendly, and personal atmosphere was created by the host, Steve. A lovely relaxing place with great attention and care given to details of comfort with artistic taste. Highly recommended. Thank you!
Very hospitable owners and attentive to our Anniversary celebration. Nice quiet place for couples staying near Franconia NH.
We were very excited to be staying at Sugar Hill; it has the charm, setting and is awarded wonderful recommendations.
Our meal was very tasty and presented lovely however my husband left feeling hungry and wanting
more food. His steak was a meager portion. Very simply put..... The meal-- appetizer, main course, was portioned for a petite person. I ordered a very delicious special donut dessert because I was still looking
for more food as well.
We definitely felt for a meal tab over $200 for 2 the offerings would have been generous & fantastic. It was our first experience staying at an inn in New England.
Romantic, relaxed atmosphere. Superb service. Exquisite dining. Highly recommended for special occasions.
Very nice quiet spot. Always a treat for us to dine at Sugar Hill Inn . Old style inn that brings us back to the 1800's New Hampshire atmosphere.
This review is based on the new chef that recently started. We use to have a great food experience each time but I was not impressed with our last meal. The presentation of the food was not appealing and lacking in flavor. I ordered a beignet inspired dessert and it looked like they just took random pieces of dough to fry up and threw together.
This restaurant is a favorite of ours to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries. It brings us back to the days when it was a treat to go somewhere special for dinner. The food is delicious and the presentation is a work of art. Dining here is like stepping back in time. It is a lovely experience.
The food is amazing.
Exceptional dining in a refined setting.
Absolutely delicious. They only take one reservation per table per night so it is a very relaxed experienced- not rushed at all. The dining room is cozy with a fireplace and comfy chairs. The menu is a pre-fixe, each course of which was delicious. Very much recommend for a special occasion or a romantic date night.
Great food from a four course price fixed menu. Served in a quiet room with a great fireplace. Just the thing for lovely winter meal.
The food, the service and the ambience are perfect for special dinner. Everything we ate was delicious, the wine list is outstanding and the service are top notch, you won’t be disappointed.
Believe all the great reviews. Beautiful place for a quiet dinner
The food was fresh, creative and most importantly delicious. You could take your time and enjoy dinner and conversation. It felt very relaxed.
Food was exceptional with friendly waitstaff and classic New England ambiance.
A 4-course meal takes over two hours, but if you're OK with that, it's worth it. (This is the only reason I rated Service with 4 rather than 5 stars.) The menu was different and delicious. But if you have a lot of food issues (don't like or are allergic to many foods) this might not be the best restaurant for you, because you have a limited number of choices for each course.
Another spectacular meal at the Sugar Hill Inn. The dining room is beautiful -- large, candlelit tables and comfortable over-sized chairs, along with a crackling fire and 270 degree views. Great wine selection, which featured a couple of notable good values from South America and Europe. Server was knowledgeable about the menu and prompt yet unobtrusive. The food was top-notch -- the quality of ingredients, the flavors, the presentation and the chef's creativity are on par with some of Boston's best restaurants. Highlights this time around included the crab cake amuse-bouche, the trio of soups, the duck (including an unreal foie gras ravioli), and the cheese course (which came with a glass of port). Will be back again soon.
The Sugar Hill Inn was outstanding in every way— the food was interesting and delicious, our server, Debbie, was excellent and the decor authentic. A snowy evening made it picture perfect.
Delicious, gourmet food in a quaint but classy and upscale atmosphere.
We went to Sugar Hill Inn for our last night before selling our condominium in New Hampshire. Every part of our experience was outstanding. We had a table right in front of the fireplace, which was warm and inviting. Our meal began with a delectable crab cake amuse bouche. Next, my husband and I each had the trio of soups - potato bacon, cream of pumpkin and crab bisque - each one outstanding with interesting little accompaniments in them. The Caesar salad was served in a parmesan cup and was delicious. I had the filet mignon and my husband had a pork tenderloin - both were cooked to perfection and were truly delicious. We each ended with a warm brownie with ice cream and had hot tea and decaf coffee. We were very pleased with our experience. Every morsel from start to finish was wonderful. Our server, Kathy, was very attentive and friendly. An memorable meal in a wonderful setting.
We were blown away by Sugar Hill Inn! We were celebrating our 5 year anniversary and it was the perfect setting. We had a table next to the fire place and had a delicious meal. I highly recommend!
Dinner was excellent and the ambiance, romantic. Small dinning room, 9 tables. Attentive service. Food was cooked perfectly, although the menu is limited, the choices were outstanding.
Truly an dining experience. Attentive service, classy decor, nice view, interesting menu..
Fine dining at its finest. Four or five courses of amazing food. Served slowly so that you can really relax and enjoy. I had the lamb entree and my husband had the trout. Both were amazing. Every course a delight!
Wine list could have been a bit better, says my husband. But other than that, no complaints.
Our all time favorite restaurant. we have eaten all over the world and this restaurant is second to none.
One of the best meals we've ever had. Everything at this charming country inn was exceptional. Not pretentious .
The menu was outstanding. Really enjoyed the cod in coconut milk curry.
We stayed at the Inn which is a wonderful place to enjoy the White Mountains.
Relaxing, quiet ambiance with wonderful food and wine selection.
Hope to return soon
First time there and won't be the last . Table was ours all night if needed. 5 course pre fix was outstanding with choice enough even for picky water like me .
It is difficult to find any fault with this restaurant. The service was spot on and personal. The food presentation was a work of art. The tastes were glorious. Congratulations to the entire staff.
Great dining experience!! The Chef knows what he is doing. Be there or be square!!
