The atmosphere in the dining room was cozy and quiet. Our upholstered benches were shaggy which made them uncomfortable to sit on for 1.5 hrs. The food was creative and delicious. I had the roasted chicken on gnocchi which was outstanding ....it did have too much salt which wasn't necessary since the seasons and sauce were delicious on their own. Our waitress was pleasant, knowledgeable and attentive.

Food was absolutely delicious. A bit on the salty side but still so good. I had the steak and my husband had the scallops. Both were cooked to perfection. The Inn was very quiet while we were there. Maybe just the time of the year. We would definitely go back.

Staff and food were excellent. Limited but diverse menu that changes daily. Stayed at the inn so I know some of the food is picked from their garden.

The dining room at the Sugar Hill Inn is really described well on the website and in promotional material. The photos make the room look very elegant and the cuisine is defined as "Fine Dining." It was OK and Hope our server was very nice, but the experience was far from fine dining, thought the prices were in keeping with higher quality products. I feel like the dining room is relying on past successes and accolades, but it is no longer up to that standard. We stayed at the Inn because the dining room and adjacent Tavern were promoted as a featured amenity. We were disappointed that the Inn did not meet what was described in the promotional material.

We have had dinner at the Sugar Hill Inn several times. On Friday, July 26, we had dinner at 6 PM. We were seated immediately. We each chose to have a blackberry Margarita. We were happy with the taste of the drink, but it was served in a glass that was shaped with a very narrow bottom which made it difficult to empty the glass. In addition the drink had too much ice for the amount of liquor which made the volume small. We both had the four course dinner. We both had the mussels as an appetizer which were excellent with a very interesting tomato type sauce. It was served with a couple of flatbreads. A few more flatbreads and we could have enjoyed the sauce a bit more. The size of the appetizer was just right for the four course dinner. We both enjoyed the next course, a salad. The salad was served with little dressing, but the cheese and dried cranberries made the salad very nice. It was sized appropriately for the four course meal. My wife had the scallops which she found was excellent with some shrimp as a bonus. She was able to finish her entree so it was sized appropriately. It looked good too. I had the steak which had a line of gristle along one edge. The gristle was easily removed but should have been removed before cooking. As a result I found my steak a bit too small. The steak and accompanying vegetables were very tasty. My wife and I both had carrot cake as a dessert and it was good, but not the best carrot cake I have had. All in all the dinner was enjoyable. We had a great conversation with visitors who were seated at the next table. Our server did a great job waiting on all the tables in the small restaurant. The scenery outside was beautiful. We were harassed by a few house flies that figured out a way into the restaurant. They hung around the windows until the food arrived... then it was "dinner is served" for them and they became a bit of a nuisance. Just a minor problem.

Duck confit was excellent, but the swordfish was overcooked and dry, as was the merguez sausage. The service was excellent, the small dining room was very nice, music was appropriate and overall the setting was elegant. Nice salad and desserts. We chose the package deal for two and the price was about right for what we got.
