Sugar Hill Inn
Perfect place for a quiet and delicious dinner in Franconia.
Sugar Hill Inn is a very special and intimate place to have dinner in Franconia area of New Hampshire. It definitely is pricey but the quality and excellence of the food and service is worth the big splurge for a special dinner, if you can. The salmon was wonderfully prepared, the lobster bisque was perfect and the desserts were stellar. I would return for a special occasion.
Food was outstanding. We had the four course prefixe meal. Wonderful. The scallops were delicious. Service was great. Highly recommend going.
We celebrated our anniversary with dinner at Sugar Hill Inn. The food was delicious, service perfect, meal beautifully paced. A quiet, intimate dining experience.
Sugar Hill Inn has a lot going for it in terms of location and exclusivity, as there are very few other places to dine in the area. It was mere minutes from our B & B. It’s a very attractive room, although we had to ask to be reseated as the booth we were shown to was so awkward- seats a good foot away from the table- that only by perching on the edge of the seat could one reach the table.
My entree, crab cakes, was delicious, as was the French rose. My caprese salad, on the other hand, was composed of pale, out of season tomatoes served ice cold. I blame myself for ordering this dish in October. The waitress did not charge us for the dish.
Clearly the inn has aspirations and some fine tuning should smooth over these minor errors I judgment.
Quaint little inn in the heart of the White Mountains. Comfortable rooms, neat as a pin and dining that is exquisite. A nice well maintained and welcoming stop as you tour this part of New England
My wife and I ate here as a romantic dinner while on our honeymoon.
Sugar Hill Inn did not disappoint as a great place for a quiet, romantic dinner, with excellent food, top notch service, and the ambiance we were looking for after having just been married.
Excellent three-course dinner! We were taken a half hour late due to a staffing problem but we were well taken care of during the wait. Wonderful table service too!
Dining at the Sugar Hill Inn was an experience. Such a treat for my husband and I. The food was very good and the the service was outstanding. Staff was very attentive; just the right amount. The food was plentiful and delicious! Warm atmosphere with sweet little adjoining rooms. Could have a quiet conversation that felt private while enjoying music that seemed especially picked for us!
Overall the food was good but the portions were small. I was still a bit hungry after I left and I had desert which I rarely do. I had the lamb chops which were delicious but there were only 2 1/2 - One complete rib and one joined to another with about the same amount of meat as the individual rib. The potato portion was rather small as well. Good, friendly service staff and room was tastefully decorated. Overall a nice night for my birthday but would not be my first choice next time unless I eat something before we go.
The Veal Rib Chop was outstanding! The appetizers so yummy! Will definitely be back!
We had a fantastic meal here our first night at the Inn. All the staff are welcoming. We had a glass of wine at the bar before dinner- nice selection of wines by the glass. Then chose the 4 course dinner. We got scallops and crab cakes for appetizer, Caesar and caprese salads, herb crusted lamb and duck breast for mains, and a cheese plate and chocolate mousse for dessert. Well paced and delicious! My husband said the Caesar was best he has had in a while! The lamb and duck were perfectly cooked and we shared a well priced Paso Robles cab - Liberty Hill. Lovely 10 year old Port with 3 great cheeses! This was not cheap but best meal we have had other than Simon Pearce in Quechee! We loved the dining room and the food is superb!
Fine dining with the elegance of a northern New England inn. Enjoyable in all regards.
The inn is very quaint. I had a reservation but yet when I arrive to an empty restaurant the waitress frantically asked me twice if I had a reservation, as a hostess assured her I did. As I sat in the empty dining room waiting for my food with cold bread , the chef came to table side and presented me with my mozzarella and tomato. Once it was sat in front of me I was disappointed to see how drenched it was with balsamic vinegar. Upon tasting it I found it to be way too heavily drenched, mozzarella heavy and bland and the tomato out of season . Dinner Arrive, salmon, baked potato, hard butter, Sour cream and two brussels sprouts cut in half. What a disappointment that was, 2 Brussels.. food nothing but mediocre.
I had a summons the waitress three times for salt, pepper, utensils. She didn’t even come over to me to see if I need anything and I was only one of two tables at that point..
The inn was very lovely, quaint with a beautiful view.
The food not so good and staff undesirable
I’m sorry for such a bad review.. I wish it could be more upbeat.
We really enjoyed our experience very much.
The menu was understated but the execution of the dinner was outstanding.
Service was very warm
I Recommend you go here, you will not be disappointed
Sugar Hill is a gem! Lovely setting, great food, great service. I highly recommend it!
Overall a nice experience in Sugar Hill. We opted for the Ala Carte option. We started with the crab cakes which were outstanding. We have had many crab cakes around the country including NJ and MD and these were top notch. My wife had the salmon which was very good but it was suppose to come with sweet potato but came with white potato. I ordered the veal chop medium but it was served rare. Risotto and asparagus were both very good.
Our server was great.
Good wine selection.
Would try again and do recommend.
Everything was amazing, even the salad (which my fiance and I both are still raving about).
Wonderful evening at the Sugar Hill Inn. Excellent food and the perfect spot for that country inn feeling. This is not an inexpensive “restaurant” and therefore best enjoyed when you are in the mood for an experience. Wines by the glass are reasonably priced starting at $10. This is a nice spot for a special occasion, or for no occasion at all other than just wanting a memorable evening.
Service and food was outstanding! Can’t wait to visit again.
Great dinner and breakfast! Surpassed all our expectations.
Very nice restaurant in the Sugar Hill B & B! The food was excellent and service also very good. Only comment was the price of the drinks - a little high.
Three nights away with family. We dined on our lSt night at Sugar Hill Inn and the good was delicious.
If you are looking for a first class meal then book supper here. Every bite was delicious.
There is absolutely nothing the Sugar Hill Inn restaurant could have done better. From a restaurant in a very historical inn, to the linen tablecloths, outstanding cocktails, and then there is the food...I'm still smiling thinking about how outstanding the veal chop was prepared. For a great dinner or special occasion, I give the Sugar Hill Inn my highest recommendation.
Loved everything about my visit to Sugar Hill Inn's restaurant. From the owner to the wait staff to the delicious caprese salad, lobster ravioli, and strawberry rhubarb crisp a la mode, everything was wonderful! Can't wait to return.
The food at the Sugar Hill Inn was excellent and it was a lovely setting. It was a bit pricey, so I would highly recommend for a special occasion. The menu is small, but varied and the portions were perfect - not too skimpy, but not overwhelming. Overall, we really enjoyed our evening, and appreciated not being rushed along.
We had a wonderful meal. The food and ambiance were a perfect compliment to the Inn.
Excellent dinner with incredible service and wonderful ambience.
Very private and elegant nice backround music to compliment the delicious food
An excellent way to spend our anniversary. The prix fixe menu had a wonderful selection and our server Debbie catered to our every need.
Wonderful chef, food was extraordinary. Very attentive waiter. Good wine selection. We’ll be back!
Terrific menu in an intimate atmosphere with outstanding service. Food was perfectly prepared and the wine list is terrific.
This is our second experience at the Sugar Hill Inn, and we will certainly continue to celebrate there. It is definitely expensive, but worth every penny!
We had a lovely stay and the mountains were gorgeous. Thanks for all you do to make this a unique and lovely stay.
Wonderful ambiance, great food, an evenings outing.
My husband and I enjoyed a delicious, cozy dinner in the tavern on a recent visit. The burgers we had were cooked to perfection and accompanied with sweet and regular fries, The burgers are advertised as tenderloin and were tender and moist with a good charcoal flavor. The cocktails made by Steve were equally as good. Our server was gracious and attentive. Wonderful experience! Lynne
Excellent meal. Food and service top notch. We will make plans for another visit.
Everything was excellent - service, food, atmosphere. We even went back the next night! Highly recommended and worth every penny!
A true gem nestled in the beauty of the White Mountains. The Inn is beautifully designed: subtly elegant yet it retains the character and history of its 1789 origins. The charm of the dining room with its stone fireplace, the sophistication of the menu, and the graciousness of its host makes it well worth the drive to Sugar Hill.
