The food was great, and the beer was quite flavorful. Mixed drinks were just ok, and the speed of service left much to be desired. I would still highly recommend it for large outings and special events, though.

The food was good, some really good other bits less so. I loved the fried artichoke hearts but my friend got two inedible fuzzy ones in a row! Appetizers took an age but they apologised and assured the mains would be quicker, and they were. The beer was great, the ambiance was pleasant and everybody was happy by the end so that's why the overall rating of very good but less than perfect. I've had a better patty melt but Sudwerk felt really nice. You choose. I will go back happily

We went to Sudwerk for our son's graduation party. We had several family members from out of town, and I think it was a huge success. The food was very good, large portions, and came to our table in a reasonable amount of time.

The service was pretty awful. The food was just "meh" (even for typical bar food). I made the mistake coming back once — I won't make that mistake again.

This is our third time having a business get together here. Food is ok for a brewery. Service seems to consistently slow, even when not busy as we usually get here at 515pm. With that being known, order drinks and appetizer's ahead of time. We usually order a couple baskets of fries to get things started. Burgers and Pizzas are solid choices.

We've been here before. Good place to eat, mostly sandwiches, salads, and soups. Oh did I mention that they have beer? The beers were excellent but the wine list was weak. But then, it's a beer place! A bit noisy, but not intolerable. We'll certainly go back

Big restaurant and friendly service. Seems like it should be better than it was.
Grilled salmon was overdone. Server was very nice about it though, and replaced it immediately with a much better piece.
House salad was sub par, and dripping in an unappealing dressing.
Crab cakes mushy, without the nice grilled effect that one hopes for.
It's a brew pub. Sampled a beer flight, which was decent. It's all about the pilsners and lagers here, not about the ales.

Six of us, two had patty melts which were goid. One person had the Reuben and said meat was tough. Another ordered brushetta, we all tried it, way too spicy. My pot roast sandwich was just ok. Sorry. Would not go back to eat except maybe a burger. Beer was great!!

after trying to book reservation online using OpenTable, the booking ostensibly stopped due to our trying to do the booking within 2 hours of the planned dinner time (that is what a notice indicated). Only by dumb luck did I check my email looking for an unrelated email from a relative. Upon checking, I saw an email indicating that our reservation for 5 had been approved, as requested online.

Suffice it to say that had I not seen this, the group was heading to our plan B.

My friend is from Munich so we had to have a German beer experience. We were passing by on our way to Sacramento and we stopped in here based on yelp. Can't tell you how great this place is. I'm not normally a beer drinker myself preferring red wine but when I had a Hefe Weizen I actually had a second mug. It was delicious with a slice of lemon. The pizza was awesome and the burger was cooked to perfection! I highly recommend this place

From the time we were seated until our food was served was one and a half hours. No explanation and the restaurant was two thirds empty. We sat outside because it was noisy inside. The weather was perfect, all was fine except the service was non-existent. We finally left to get dessert elsewhere. I would not go back. It's not the good German menu and good service I remembered.

We met for a graduation party with out of town guests. It was a wonderful experience for all of us! Appetizers came quickly - fried calamari especially light and tasty. The most amazing imported cider! Beer on tap has such a wide selection, everyone was happy! Burgers cooked perfectly. A grand time was had by all. Thanks Sudwerk!

The food was amazing. Lots of flavor and good portions. The service was good at first than it got slow. I waited for my waiter for 15 to 20 min just to ask for a refill and ask for napkins. Also I felt rushed brought my check too early I wasn't even done with ordering dessert. Overall food was great but they can use improvement on their customer service.

We were a group of eight and Angela, our server, handled this number with aplomb. The food was good - not great - and was up to our expectations. We'll be back!

We had a larger group and the service was great. Everyone got the right order and the server was pleasant, friendly, and efficient. We managed to be there on a playoff game day at lunch, so the noise level was a bit intense. It made conversation challenging at times, but not impossible. I miss some of the old German dishes that Sudwerk's used to have, but the food was good, the menu had a good variety, and the quantity was more than sufficient.

The reservation process through Open Table was easy, including making a last minute change to the size of the party.

Could be challenging for those on a gluten-free diet as there is no separate menu.

Our server was prompt and very pleasant, but the burgers were overcooked and the appetizer never arrived (the server apologized). The beer was excellent, as expected. An earlier visit with a large group was much better, so I'll chalk this up to a one-off when the kitchen was not paying attention on a Friday night.

Our family has been going to Sudwerk since my Mom moved to Davis 25 years ago. Mom turned 90 on September 20th, and many family were coming from out of town to help her celebrate, so we chose Sudwerk as the venue for her 90th birthday party. The reservation for her party grew to 26, and Sudwerk staff were great! They set up a separate section for us with several tables for easy mingling, and an extra table w/table cloth for gifts. The food was delicious, and the staff great, we all had a wonderful time.

Had a family reunion on the outdoor patio which served us very well. The service was outstanding even though they had to accommodate 12 of us at the most distant table from the kitchen. The noise of the adjacent freeway and railroad tracks is a little annoying but not to the level that made conversation difficult. The beer is good and the food delicious.

Service was terrible and the food worse. The tri-tip in my tri-tip salad, was so overlooked and dry it may as well been beef jerky. My children also complained about how bad their hamburgers were.

We arrived with a group of 25 kids and parents (two reservations) and they quickly figured out how to accommodate. Our server was a super star!! He made control in our chaos and the food was delicious. I honestly don't know how they did it !!
