The lamb chops & the pork tenderloin wrapped in bacon was very tasty!
We we’re celebrating Anniversary and we’re given a great corner table. Kelly our server was really helpful and friendly. We loved the bacon wrapped scallops a generous portion for an appetizer. Best dinner was short ribs!but we all loved our entrees. Fried chicken and stuffed chicken excellent. We will be dining here every time we come to Solvang, Oh we had a fantastic chocolate desert with ice cream and toffee crumbles!
We felt rushed. Which I understand because they were busy, but as locals, it reminds me not to go back for a while. The dishes were cleared from those who had finished eating, but not everyone was done eating, which I believe makes the person still eating feel like they need to hurry up. And before everyone was done eating, the waitress asked if we wanted to look at the dessert menus. At that point I said, "Perhaps AFTER everyone is done eating you could come back and ask us that." Food is amazing. It's very noisy when it's packed and you're inside - we had to shout to talk to each other, which just makes the noise level worse, but what do you do? And the server and staff couldn't have been nicer, I just don't think they've been trained that there is a fine line between encouraging turn over and being pushy.
It was Fabulous from the minute we walked in the door 👌
I love Succulent Cafe, I've been several times. Normally it exceeds expectations, but or most recent meal there was mediocre. Such a disappointment. The fried chicken was very dry and the quality was what I would expect at a fast food restaurant, the collard greens were unappetizing. My boyfriend said he will never eat there again, but I will give it another chance and hope the quality is better. On a brighter note, the brussel sprouts were devine, the starter biscuits and delicious, and my entree Spicy Hen was good. The service was exceptional though! Hopefully we just caught an off night. I'll write another review after I visit again.
Love this place. We live locally. Always an enjoyable meal.
We always look forward to dinner at Succulent when in the area. The food is delicious, with a good range of options and they have some interesting cocktails choices. I especially like the 3 Little Pigs with an apple & cinnamon mimosa.
The food was really incredible and a very fair price for the quality. I would come back anytime!
Great Valentines Day dining. Had a wonderful local halibut and husband had short ribs. The eggplant/goat cheese on bruschetta was delicious. Also great wines by the glass. Even though it was a busy night, we were seated promptly and service was efficient and friendly .
We went for Valentines Day dinner and the waitress was amazing with asking questions and making sure we had what we needed for the meal and special needs.
It is always a pleasure to dine here. Kelly and the other staff members are friendly and attentive. The food is superb and seating is comfortable, especially In ‘the library’ table section.
Overall a very good dining experience .
Wine list gathers local wines at affordable prices.
Too bad the choice of fish dishes are very limited.
Some dishes are original , others plain and main stream ....
Everything from service to food was excellent! Best flourless chocolate cake I have ever had!
Ambiance was nice and food was good quality but everything was a bit over spiced...Vodka Penne with shrimp should not be spicy...
Food is fabulous. Service is great. The ambiance needs work. The tables are wonky and the setup is too open. I felt too close to the table next to me. It was cold inside because the door to the outside was open.it makes me want to order to go.
Great restaurant. We never miss it when we are in Solvang.
Great server, atmosphere and food! Hot little spot.
The Short Ribs were delicious! My husband enjoyed the meatloaf - took half home since it is a big portion. Our waitress was great - very attentive and friendly.
Great food, great service, in the middle of Solvang
Outstanding service and excellent food
Our server Kelly was the perfect host
Her suggestion from decanting our wine to food pairings were spot on
We had been here before for brunch, outstanding Bloody Marys
Decided to Celebrate our 31st anniversary there and will be back
Another great experience. We will be coming again and again. Thank you for making our trip even nicer.
The entire experience was delightful! Highly recommend, something for everyone on the menu.
We decided to go to Succulent Cafe based on the Yelp reviews. It did not disappoint! Started with delicious mini biscuits! Yum! Our group got the Salmon, Meatloaf with succotash, short ribs and cream polenta and the fried chicken! Everyone was extremely pleased with their meal! Would definitely come again!
Delicious Lamb Chop!
Had a wonderful meal and great service !! Would definitely recommend friends to go!
Wonderful staff and marvelous meal.
I took my wife out for her birthday!
Great food, great service. Really good dessert. A wonderful place to celebrate.
I was disappointed with the rice that came with my salmon. It was obviously frozen rice with precut veggies and this place is too expensive to be doing that. The brussel sprouts were delicious.
Delicious dinner with the family. I enjoyed it from start to end. I highly recommend the bacon mac & cheese.
Food great! Servers stingy. It was a quiet night and staff clearly wanted to go home. The three little pigs was exceptional. The chicken andouille sausage penne pasta very tasty. But we got ignored for simple stuff like water. And the Caesar salad was way too expensive. A very mixed bag. A few kind smiles and helpful staff would have gone a long way.
Very good cocktails, mains, and parking was easy.
The entrees were surprisingly good. The ambiance was OK, the wine list - unremarkable.
Great place for a date. Indoor or outdoor. Service and food (and wine list) are top-notch and reasonable too!
We had a lovely table outside. The food was delicious and the service was great. A lovely spot to check out in Solvang!
First time here for dinner (had come here for lunch before). Overall, it was a great experience and I would definitely recommend. The only issues we had came before we got there and right as we arrived. Issues #1: We tried calling multiple times before we got there to see if bringing our own wine was OK and what the corkage fee was. No answer after multiple after 3 tries. We brought the wine with us anyway and were finally able to get someone on the phone on the car ride there. Issues #2: When we got there, we were immediately seated which was great, but it took a loooooong time before a server or anyone acknowledged us. Probably a full 5-8 minutes. But I am pleased to say that after that inauspicious start, everything else was great. Staying true to their pig logo, we went mostly with bacon/pork/meat dishes. Country Meatloaf was great- great flavor, especially the hot sausage in it, perfect texture- not too dry, and the bacon gravy was enjoyable as well. Bacon wrapped scallops- the scallops were slightly overcooked but the flavor was good. Fried Brussel sprouts- exactly what it sounds like, nothing special but very solid. Short rib was to die for- great flavor, juicy, moist. Desserts were good too. They substituted a different kind of ice cream in my sundae that I requested, so that was nice of them to accommodate that. Server was very friendly and knowledgeable. At the end, I was shocked that our bill was only $112. For two apps, two entrees, and two desserts (no drinks because we brought our wine) I felt that was good value for what we received. And they didn't charge us corkage. Bottom line, it was an enjoyable experience and I would definitely return.
Very pricey for the amount of food you get. Service..Eh we got better service from the food runners than anyone else. It was good but nothing spectacular.
We decided to share two appetizers and a main dish. Making those choices was extremely difficult because so many things on the menu sounded wonderful. We settled on the Brussel Sprouts and the bacon wrapped diver scallop for our appetizers. The Brussel sprouts were caramelized with balsamic vinegar and bacon. The scallops were cooked perfectly as was the bacon. The sauce has some heat to it and made for an interesting juxtaposition of flavors.
Our main dish was the three little pigs. Gorgeous presentation and amazing flavors. The pork was fork tender and the potatoes crispy.
It was my birthday and Succulent treated me to a fabulous caramel cheesecake with a delicate crust, was amazing and also wonderfully complementary to the rest of our meal. We will be back to try more of the menu.
First, I love dishes that are well thought out. You can easily tell original ideas from copy cats, and that originality is hard to find on the Central Coast. I had the "Three Little Pigs" entre, and bacon on a pork loin might sound too oinky, but I found they complemented each other deliciously. The dab of pork vermouth sauce (the third pig I presume), the creamed spinach, and potato cake foundation (yes, each bite should have all three on your fork) resulted in a great composition. Bravo. Our party shared the scallops and brussell sprout appetizers, both excellent and made with twists on these typical dishes, and we ordered them with a crisp yet smooth bottle of Viognier from Kaena, a local winery (a great buy for $30). Also worth noting, as soon as we sat down, I realized we weren't battling the typical loud music and poor acoustics where we have to shout to hear each other. The music is soft and the ceilings lower, which allowed for easy conversation and an intimate feel. Marty our waitress was attentive, knowledgable, accommodating, and personable. I came with my mom and sisters, and will now return with my husband for a romantic dinner. Succulent Cafe in one sexy restaurant.
Wonderful location, good service and ambience. Rack of lamb was the star of the show. Duck disappointing - overcooked and no crispy skin, with rice and cauliflower basic and dull. Charcuterie and cheese top shelf though. Simple and super reasonable local wine list, with an excellent wine-based spirits cocktail list. Overall a fantastic restaurant if you’re visiting Solvang, right up there with First and Oak.
