Succotash - National Harbor
SUCCOTASH is named after the classic dish that has been a longstanding staple of the Southern table. While many know “Succotash” when they see it, the dish has been interpreted, modified and passed from generation to generation for centuries. While Succotash between families will share similarities, each family’s recipe is deeply personal and reminiscent of those special suppers that brings kin together. Our “Succotash” is special to us and we invite you to experience the South from our point of view.

Real pleased. Had the short rib. Very tender and the sauce that came with it was great.
Noisy and expensive. Everything is al a carte . Our protein was $22 alone . Want a side vegtable, it's another $8 to $10. Whole ordered not arrive at same time. A side salad cake out at end of meal.
First time at a traditional southern style restaurant. The cornbread side dish was best ever. I had salmon good but I should have chosen something more special. One person had shrimp and grits (see photo). There were fabulous cocktails a lot of bourbon choices in a variety of prices up to $110. Waiter was ok but kind of had an attitude. I'd go again for the amazing food.
Bar service fir the brief period I was there seemed fine. Being seated took a bit longer than expected for dinner time with a reservation, because the host was nowhere to be found and then seemed peeved to see someone waiting fie him at the front of the house. Table service was inattentive and forgetful about the one addition we requested, though she was polite and apologetic when she decided to stop by to check on us. Food was a bit spicier than expected but generally pretty good.
Best chicken and waffles I’ve ever had, and the suggested Mac and cheese side was likewise fantastic, fried green tomatoes were a super yummy take on the dish. I live in SC and have lived in GA so I’ve had all these dishes before.
We were visiting from NY and was VERY disappointed in the food. The fries we hard as a ROCK! They had to be sent back and the replacement fries were not much different. The collard greens were not as good as reported. However, the waitress was EXCELLENT!
Great time. Fast & friendly service matched with good food & drinks. What more can you ask for.
Great food! We were celebrating our anniversary, and had the Taste of the South menu which was delicious! We also had the Belle's punch which was perfect sweetness, and not too heavy or syrupy. Loved everything!
Food was really good. Service was ok. Location was very good with plenty of parking in nearby garages.
Had to grab a waiter to take our order, but everything after that was great.
This was my first visit and certainly won't be my last. I loved your menu and the food I had was awesome.
The food was really good and the service was great!
Good food and great service. Went for lunch and the restaurant was quiet.
Very enjoyable experience
Aside from the eating area being a bit tight for five people, it was nice. It was my first time eating there and I would come back.
Slow, slow service and average food. Very average.
Server = Diamond - was fantastic, perfect balance of attentiveness, knowledge, skill. Zach = chef - is a real gem. He had a great dinner recommendation; I ordered it; it was fantastic. Have eaten in every restaurant in National Harbor & Succotash is number 1 in my book!
Great service here! Eubin was excellent! Everyone was very nice. The food was great. We decided to get the Taste of the South menu option, which was a great decision. We were able to sample so many menu options that was and the food kept coming out at the perfect moments. The food is seasoned very well. Highly recommend.
Not bad, but not exceptional either. Service was fine and friendly. Place was nicely decorated. The food simply lacked that flavor I expected from an upscale restaurant. It was more in line with a good chain restaurant.
Good food, but service was on the slower side
The food was amazing! I took my husband to Succotash and we ordered the "Taste of the South" me and him left happy and stuffed! We did not have to put one drop of extra seasoning to any of the food. My waitress was really nice and friendly. She got us what we needed, when we needed it and was not a bother. We will be coming back soon!
Multiple dishes were just bad. Poached eggs were bad, lobster was dry, fries tasted reheated. Ambience was dark. Service was solid and the chicken and waffles were OK.
One of the best dining experiences I have had for a while! A random selection of restaurant and wasn’t sure what to expect at National Harbor, but WOW! Amazing food, service, cocktails and ambience. We will definitely be going back.
Everything was excellent from food to service. We ate here for dinner before the Jill Scott concert and it exceeded are expectations. We had the Taste of the South dinner and it was amazing and plentiful. The Belle’s Punch was good. I would highly recommend this place.
My family and I absolutely enjoyed everything about this restaurant including the food! Great location, ambiance, food choices, and the portions were big. Our waiter and the manager on site were really great. We all had a great time!
Pleasant, efficient service.
Look forward to returning
Service was exceptional (Mila) and food was on par with previous experiences.
We had to order family style. Yes it included EVERYTHING on the itemized menu but it was nasty and WAYYYYYYYYY over priced. Also, keep in mind that you only get 1 of everything to taste so if you do like something (which you probably won't) you will not be able to get more of it unless someone in your party is willing to give you there's. The sides are supposed to be shareable but is only enough for you to get 1 teaspoon. The green's were actually delicious and the ONLY thing I liked. Everyone in my party was upset. The waiter was nice and friendly but the food still made the night a bust as we tried to come out to celebrate. Also, the drinks are WAYYYYYYYYYY over priced (even more than what they cost at MGM) and they're nasty as well.
Hi Jessica, Thank you for your thoughtful and insightful review. We will use your review during our training classes to help our team better provide a great experience for our other valued guests.
I always eat here, though it has been a while since my last visit. It's close to everything in D.C. the staff is always awesome and food is always perfect. I never have an issues with anything I select on their menu, and that includes drinks. Calling ahead if you are going to be late or have changes to your party.
The waitress was very knowledgeable and recommended an excellent drink. l will definitely be telling others about this restaurant!!!
Pleasant experience from the minute we got there until we left.
I always have a wonderful experience at succotash. Great service and wonderful food
Went with a friend to celebrate her birthday! Wonderful atmosphere and one of the best salads I've ever eaten!!
Service was above and beyond they really made us feel welcomed. Food was good as well. They have some dishes that are not your normal run of the mill sides which is a good thing to challenge our pallets. 9.5 of 10
Everything we ate was wonderful!
Parties of 8 or more you have to go with the Pre Fix menu but the food was great and enough to fill your appetite. Good food for the price.
Exquisite, delightful, & delicious with each bite. Surpassed our expectation on our first visit! Will come back and recommend to all.
Great food! No sweet tea which was odd for a southern style restaurant and disappointing. Dessert offerings were not tempting. Everything else was on point.
We thought there would be no reason not to select a southern cooking restaurant at the National Harbor, and the menu on the website had plenty of possibilities from which to choose. We were very disappointed. The best thing was the drinks.......but you can't go wrong with Woodford Reserve anywhere.
My wife ordered the fried oyster appetizer and I ordered the smoked chicken wings. Neither had any taste - I shockingly asked the server for salt and pepper to give them some flavor! My wife had the catfish entree with grits and I had the beef rib with cauliflower side. My wife found herself asking for tartar sauce to give the poor fish flavor (at least it was crispy), but it was also tasteless, as were the grits. There was sauce for the ribs, the meat was tender, but again, no flavor even when smothered with the sauce. The cauliflower side had a lightly seasoned fish sauce on it and a sprig of dill. It was a good side but alas the main elements of the meal were far from satisfying.
We did not send the food back to the kitchen, and when the $165 check arrived, we added the 18% tip because the server was very good, but I was really upset by spending that much for a meal that I did not enjoy at all.
Perhaps if you choose this restaurant, you could order something else, or the same things and not have the same experience, but I for one will not be returning to Succotash.
Loved their brunch awesome service and reasonable prices for the high quality!
