Succotash - National Harbor
SUCCOTASH is named after the classic dish that has been a longstanding staple of the Southern table. While many know “Succotash” when they see it, the dish has been interpreted, modified and passed from generation to generation for centuries. While Succotash between families will share similarities, each family’s recipe is deeply personal and reminiscent of those special suppers that brings kin together. Our “Succotash” is special to us and we invite you to experience the South from our point of view.

Food was delicious. Loved the ribs and the fish. The Mac & Cheese was to die for. A definite gastronomic delight. Only issue, their fire alarm rang the whole time and was quite aggravating. They were generous to comp a meal and we appreciated that. Great area with lots to do and see (even in the cold rainy winter). .
This has become our regular meeting place. Thank you for such great service.
Very dark inside @ 1 pm; difficult to read menu. Limited food choices, not many healthy options. One friend did not feel well after brunch.
Loved brunch, can’t wait to do dinner
The food was great. The service couldn’t be better. Highly recommend!
The thanksgiving feast was wonderful! Delicious food and an excellent value.
Really good thanksgivings dinner. Traditional and tasty.
The food was okay but the hostess was extremely rude to us. Reservations were made weeks in advance for a party of 5 - all of which were adults. We were put at a table that would normally seat 2 and kept knocking elbows when eating so it was extremely uncomfortable. We asked the hostess to move us and she said no as that is the table that seats 5. Our server was fantastic and saved the night.
My Thanksgiving at Succotash has set the bar for all other restaurants. Fantastic service and great vegetarian alternatives. Can’t wait to return.
The service was outstanding: very attentive and polite. The value for the Thanksgiving fixed-price meal was not good. It was $55/person yet some portions (cornbread muffins, mac expect to pay a lot of money for not much food and poor desserts.
It was a wonderful and stress free experience!
I went with the Family Style so that we could taste a little of everything and it was great! The only part that was a minor let down was the dessert. It was not as good as I hoped. However, everything was amazing.
The food was amazing and the atmosphere was beautiful. We spoke to a Manager and he recommended some dishes for us, which was nice. I was a little disappointed in our server. She barely checked on us. I had to ask twice for a soda refill. The Manager even walked by twice and saw I had an empty soda and didn't think to ask if we needed more. Saw a lot of the other servers and they were personable and diligent with their customers. Was just disappointed in our server, but luckily everything was perfect!
Appetizers were amazing as always but the catfish I ordered had a piece severely undercooked. The waitress immediately took it away and another piece was brought out. Overall still an awesome experience like always
Celebrating our friends 41st birthday.
Usually when we make reservations the restaurant gives a special dessert to celebrate the occasion but not this time. Overall great time with fast friendly service.
Food was tasty, the bartenders were great but our server needs to understand the basics of customer service 101. Nothing ruins an experience more then a waitress who literally asks for your order and just vanishes until it's time to pay up, offers 0 friendly interaction. I know this is probably not a real reflection of the establishment but poor service is POOR SERVICE.
Really good food, loved the ambiance, seated in time, and great service. Loved the fried green tomatoes, smoked wings and greens, salmon was also tasty. Drinks were the best and everything came out quickly.
Succotash is a modern twist on southern inspired cuisine. It is definitely one of the best brunches I have ever had! This is in comparison to places in LA, NYC, Austin, and Boston. Be sure to make a reservation, you will NOT be disappointed! PS-For parents: They have an a la carte menu for kids and/or picky eaters. Do not be dissuaded by the menu.
Food was fantastic!! Great menu selection fantastic service!!
Great menu - I really enjoyed the chef’s take on southern cuisine. And I highly recommend the whiskey sour! Wait staff was friendly and attentive - but not intrusive. I will definitely be back.
We read that this restaurant was in the top 10 for National Harbor so we decided to try it. We looked at the menu prior to coming so we knew what we were going to order ahead of time. The food was greasy and over cooked. We ordered fried catfish and fried chicken and waffles. The chicken was lacking in taste and meat. The waffles were so over cooked they actually crumbled. The server was abrupt and when we asked for separate checks she told us she couldn’t accommodate us unless she put the orders in separately and we would probably not get our food at the same time. Overall the experience was quite disappointing and I would not recommend nor would I revisit the restaurant again. We should have complained to the manager at the time but decided not too because we were in conferences all day and we were exhausted.
Great vibe and service/ food is $$ . Unique menu with tasty and healthy choices!
Our server didn't go out of his way to make the visit something special, he was very serious and seemed like maybe he was a little stressed. Two people ordered chicken & waffles and the chicken was under cooked. He was very apologetic about that though and brought new meals pretty quickly. The hostesses were great about sitting us next to friends who also had a reservation which was nice and appreciated. The restaurant definitely has a cool vibe with the decor.
Our food was amazing! Service was prompt. It’s definitely one of our favorite restaurants to visit when we go to National Harbor.
Wonderful staff and atmosphere. The food was spectacular and i can’t wait to go back!
Our French toast was not cooked properly. Parts were still raw. Our cornbread was cold in the middle.
We hebben dit restaurant gekozen voor de “southern kitchen” en het eten was geweldig! Verukkelijke , pittige collard greens, sappigste babybackribs, sappige green fried tomatoes. Kortom een aanrader!
Great food with great friends. Little noisey but nice. Only complaints: Not enough space at our table and we were packed in tight...
We had the family style menu and it was incredibly filling and every dish was rather surprisingly tasty! Definitely worth going with a group again.
Great food. Great service. Great atmosphere. We all ate way too much and so mad that we could not muster the strength for desert. Deviled eggs. Get one. Fried okra is delicious. Chicken and waffles is huge. Fried green tomato salad, hush puppies fantastic.
The fried oysters were delicious! Shrimp and grits we're good but not great. Nice restaurant and I will try another entree next time.
Even though we could have had better service, I would still recommend Succotash. We got there and was seated immediately. Before we could get settled in our booth the waitress was there ready to take our order before we even had a chance to look at the menu. After we had a chance to look at the menu, it's like she disappeared. When she finally appeared and we ordered she didn't get the order correct. My meal came with fries which she left off. Took so long for her to return with the fries I asked her if she forgot to order them. My husband ordered the cheese burger with fries. She didn't ask if he needed mustard, ketchup, or mayonnaise with his burger and fries. We had to summon someone else in the restaurant for the condiments. Could have had better service. It wasn't that busy in the restaurant that day.
Stayed at the National Harbor for a conference. Restaurant was very convenient to our hotel. The food was very good but the menu options were strange and all over the place. I was glad I tried succotash but I won’t be returning. Server was very nice and friendly. No parking validation so this is an added expense to the bill if you are coming to eat here.
Went here for Sunday brunch... service was very spotty. I think we saw more of other servers than our own. When he first approached our table and poured water he didn’t say a word. Then we didn’t see him again for 15 minutes. Our food was tasty. However, my husband ordered French toast and it wasn’t done in the middle. It was doughy like uncooked bread. We pointed this out to our server who brought him another serving. It was the same so he just gave up on it. It was, however, according to my hubby, some of the best tasting French toast he’s had in a long time. So a few hiccups, but tasty enough that we will try Succotash again sometime.
Had an excellent experience. Service was great. My wife had shrimp and grits. They were amazing. She didn't leave any. I had chicken and waffles. Also excellent and plentiful. Loaded potato soup was awesome as well.
Although the restaurant was crowded we were seated immediately. Service was prompt and courteous. I loved my lobster Benedict brunch. The only complaint in our group was from my husband who said the biscuits were not as good as his Mother’s! I would definitely go back again!!
Extremely bizarre. Asked for a second glass of wine 3x. Never got it but our waiter did apologize for our food being delayed- telling us it would be out soon - a half hour after we had finished eating our food.
Outstanding chicken and waffles!
Very friendly service!
Great service from manager in seating us promptly on a very busy evening. Also checked on us several times throughout the meal. Food was excellent as was our server.
