Succotash - National Harbor
SUCCOTASH is named after the classic dish that has been a longstanding staple of the Southern table. While many know “Succotash” when they see it, the dish has been interpreted, modified and passed from generation to generation for centuries. While Succotash between families will share similarities, each family’s recipe is deeply personal and reminiscent of those special suppers that brings kin together. Our “Succotash” is special to us and we invite you to experience the South from our point of view.

The food and ambience was awesome. I will definitely be back.
The food is in the pricey side given it's all a la carte, but its definitely yummy! We did Sunday brunch and our waiter was less than attentive possibly because it was busy(?). Next time we would sit at the bar. We had grabbed drinks there the night before and we're impressed by service and cocktail list.
The service was horrible, we had to ask for a new server, because our server was too busy, and we couldn't order for over 30 minutes. We were outside, and it took them a while to start the heaters, even though when we were seated there, we were told that heaters are working. Considering the high prices, and the bad service, I wouldn't recommend this location.
Very creative twist on traditional southern cuisine. Very glad we chose Succotash!
Food was OK, nothing spectacular or original. Shrimp and grits were bland and only had a 4 small shrimp. Chicken and waffles were good, according to my boys, but the chicken appeared to be undercooked on one of the pieces. Service was OK, but not what would be typical for a restaurant in this price range. Overall decent, but nothing to write home about.
Excellent service, attentive to every need
Awesome experience, my husband’s first visit
Food was excellent. Server could have been more attentive, had to always try to get his attention. Otherwise, everything was excellent.
Im hoping this was an off night for them, so maybe I would give it another try on another day, but there are so many other options at the harbor, I probably wouldn't. The server seemed absolutely uninterested in our presence. Drinks were super slow from the bar, and besides the smoked wings, everything was just ehh at the best.
I visited your restaurant at the national harbor for the first time. I’ve passed by Succotash as we frequent the national harbor almost every weekend. I made a reservation on open table for a date night before a concert at the MGM. It was not particularly busy as it was Sunday evening. After sitting at the table Without having been greeted by a server, the manager finally came over and said that our waitress would be with us shortly. 15 minutes later we still had not received a server. A young man saw that we were trying to at least order drinks and was gracious enough to take our drink order at which point a waitress made her way over. The drinks took forever and so we were only able to have a few of what we wanted. The service was simply mediocre. Several managers were on shift scrambling around to assist the servers to which we were confused because again the restaurant was not overly busy.
No, to the food. The food was simply not anything I would have imagined. I have shied away from this restaurant for fear it would not live up to the standard of amazing soul food. My worst fears were realized last night. We were new diners and were unaware that their fried chicken would actually be more of a barbecue chicken. The deviled eggs tasted like eggs with mustard; no real flavor. The catfish was mushy seemingly undercooked. When I brought it home it tasted better once it was warmed up and thoroughly cooked. At the end of the night my boyfriend and I were both gravely disappointed at the almost $200 we spent yet we’re still slightly hungry and fully unsatisfied.
I almost canceled the reservation yesterday for fear the restaurant would not live up to my expectations but decided I wanted to give it a try. It was absolutely a mistake.
Met up with friends from out of town for brunch. We all truly enjoyed our meals. 2 of us enjoyed the French toast-lemon curd was amazing, another the hangover special and the other biscuits and gravy. With a side of bacon and scrambled eggs. We also enjoyed mimosas and a southern Bloody Mary. Luckily we had reservations as the restaurant was definitely well liked and very busy.
Loved the southern taste family style brunch
Very nice restaurant. A little over priced but every restaurant is at the national harbor. The smoked wings are amazing
The value and quality of food was excellent. The salmon and catfish was very good. The chicken & waffles and dirty fried chicken was ok. The chicken on both meals was cooked perfectly. The waffles were dry and needed more syrup. The sauce on the dirty fried chicken was ok, the flavor/texture made it had to eat all the chicken. (I got tired of it.)
The biggest negative was the service. From the second we sat down we felt rushed. We were asked for drink, apps and dinner orders after looking at the menu for a few minutes. We ordered drinks and before they arrived we were asked a second time for apps and main course orders. Our main courses were brought to the table while we were still eating apps. We were a party of 4 and our meal was less then an hour. We had reservations and there was no need to rush us like they did. In fact probably would’ve order dessert and a after dinner drink if they weren’t moving us along so fast.
Great food and amazing service
We ate dinner here after visiting the Gaylord Hotel for a holiday event. The restaurant has a modern, cozy feel and we easily found seats in the bar to wait for our reservation time. We were pleased with the craft beer selection and the pimento cheese fundido appetizer was excellent. At our dining table, we ordered the skillet cornbread and nearly fought over the last piece. Three of us shared bites of our dinners, which were all as good as expected after the two appetizers: Shrimp & Grits, Crispy Local Blue Catfish, and Dirty Fried Chicken. Our server warned us that the chicken was spicy and we said to bring it! The heat was for real, and good! The catfish crust was perfect and the spicy slaw hit the spot. I look forward to going again.
The food and service were both excellent and the ambiance was wonderful. The space is warm and cozy
Great food and drinks
The food was very good. My drink was great. I ordered the campfire cider, which was served warm. Service was ok. Our server was pleasant, but my husband and I struggled to hear him, as he was very soft spoken. After we received our food, he seemed to have disappeared for a while.
Great first visit!! Service was great on a very busy night. Looking forward to our next visit. Reservations are highly recommended.
Awesome place to eat. Staff was friendly, it was very enjoyable.
It’s generous to call this food mediocre, especially for non-mediocre pricing. The service was decent and the staff were friendly enough, the food just wasn’t good. The burger was absolutely the most appetizing thing we ordered. Everything was super salty and oily yet still bland (minus the salt of course).
Family dinner on Christmas Day. Outstanding service! The meal was ok.
Our waitress avoided us the whole time like the plague. I ordered two appetizers and I had to send one back and the other taste like air. The entree was descent but, Kentucky Mule was weak. They lack good customer service.
Our dinner at Succotash was very good. Prices are reasonable and the service was good. Server forgot our appetizer and was slow to get us drinks but otherwise did a great job. The seasoning and flavors were great but the deep fried oysters had way to much breading and were overcooked. Normally I would be ok with this, like eating at a local tavern but when you pay for an excellent meal and they make simple mistakes it’s frustrating. Otherwise the Smoked Wings were amazing though. The deviled eggs had no texture. Mule was ok but not served in a copper cup, not sure if that was intentional or not. Still I would come back just for the wings and a good beer.
Terribly overpriced. Went there because of the reviews seemed very positive. Wouldn’t go there again and would not recommend anyone going there. While the food wasn’t terrible it sure wasn’t great. Definitely not for that price. The description said river view but that is terribly misleading!
Always great! Service was a little slow but the food was amazing.
Restaurant was recommended by a friend and it did not disappoint! Food was beautiful plated and tasted amazing. Atmosphere was warm, cozy and visually appealing.... it was a true delight to all the senses! Would never go back to National Harbor with out visiting there again!
The service food and ambiance was perfect for my birthday celebration!!
Our server was knowledgeable, patient and willing to go the extra bit, like bringing a sample of the soup for one of our party. The food was excellent - love their deviled eggs!
Our Server Josh was amazing. We had a late reservation but he did not rush us. His recommendations were spot on. Food was excellent as always!
Upon arrival I had so many hopes for this place. They went above and beyond. The Mac and Cheese was AMAZING!
Get the deviled eggs, Mac and cheese and fried green tomatoes
Despite the check-in being a bit disappointing as they wouldn't seat me until the others arrived, which was inconsistently applied, it was a great experience. This was not my first time, at least number 6 or 7, and as always service from the wait staff was great!! Food remains consistently great and I look forward to my next visit.
The ambiance and service were fantastic. The food was mouthwatering and very tasty. I would highly recommend this place to everyone.
We were visiting from out of state and wanted to eat at a restaurant that we didn’t have in our area. We took one look at the menu and knew we had to try it. We were NOT disappointed. Food was fantastic, loved the atmosphere and great wait staff. We will definitely be back if we’re in the area again.
Our server was Edward and he was great! Made our dining experience an enjoyable one. Attentive but not overbearing.
Great service and great food.
The wait staff was really exceptional. We had a minor child emergency and they had a Band-Aid on hand, they provided her with an ice cream sundae too. The food tasted delicious and the drinks were amazing.
The staff was so rude. Our waiter made us go to the ourselves to get our drinks if we wanted happy hour prices. Then he was mad it took so long and we weren’t prepared to order our food when we sat down. He then got my order wrong and never came back to check on us. Would NEVER go back.
