SUCCOTASH is named after the classic dish that has been a longstanding staple of the Southern table. While many know “Succotash” when they see it, the dish has been interpreted, modified and passed from generation to generation for centuries. While Succotash between families will share similarities, each family’s recipe is deeply personal and reminiscent of those special suppers that brings kin together. Our “Succotash” is special to us and we invite you to experience the South from our point of view.

The location was great - right across from our convention hotel. The oysters were amazing especially at happy hour prices. The dirty chicken was a great blend of spicy and sweet but a little too much batter. Bar staff were great. I plan to come back before leaving National Harbor.

We made our first visit on Valentine's Day weekend after hearing good things. The location at the harbor was beautiful. We were warmly greeted at seated right on time for our 4pm reservation. Although the place was packed, our service was focused and courteous. My wife and I had already decided to order the "Taste of the South" , a sampling of several apps, entrees and deserts. I must say, it was a lot of food for the two of us. The server brought it in phases to allow us to enjoy each plate. We started with some of the best deviled eggs ever! Next, we had a wonderful smoked wings followed by fried green tomato salad. Mind you, we have yet to get to the main course but we are stuffed. The food was so flavorful with a rare mix of Korean fusion with southern cooking. The main courses--OMG! First, we get encrusted blue catfish with a jalapeno aioli followed by chicken and (the best) waffles, and bay back ribs! We already know we're getting doggy bags! Dessert was butter pecan cookies and mini chocolate pecan pies (delicious) with a choice of vanilla and orange butter crème. A great ending to an awesome meal! Well done!

The hostess was rude and didn’t want to seat my party even though half was there and on time. Would not go back because of this experience. She was rude and unprofessional.

Succotash is one of our favorite restaurants and a must anytime we venture to the National Harbor. Our waiter was excellent, fun and friendly. The hush puppies have a green tomato jam with them that is to die for, the chicken and waffles are out of this world, the green tomato salad is my favorite, the Mac and cheese felt like the most comfortable hug in a bowl and the friend okra open our eyes to something we were always put off by before. 10/10, we’ll keep coming back again and again.

We had reservations for 10am (the time that the restaurant was scheduled to open). A staff member (manager?) unlocked the door at 10:05am, and we entered the restaurant with one other couple. Our server took our drink orders and return shortly to tell me that the main ingredient in the drink I ordered was not available. I ordered another drink, and it was good. However, 45 minutes into our reservation time, we had not a single morsel of food on the table. When we talked to the manager, they said it would be 10-15 minutes before we got sticky buns. Well bring us the fried green tomato salad or something! After a 3-minute discussion that resulted in no food at our table, the manager comped our drinks, and we left to take our chances at another restaurant at National Harbor.

We were seated immediately and were approached by our waiter, Deonjalo, within 5 minutes. He was very knowledgeable of the menu and offered us amazing recommendations. We order our food and, in less than 30 minutes of us being seated, everything was brought out. The manager also came over to check in with us.

The food was beyond amazing and the service exceeded my expectations. I can’t wait to come back!

Wonderful food, great service, enjoyable date. My only qualm is that the drinks from the bar arrived slow, but the place was packed so the bar could have been backed up. Lovely time nonetheless.

My partner and I went out for our anniversary and everything was enjoyable. My only negative takeaway is that it was so loud in there that our waitress could hardly hear us and we could hardly hear each other, but what else could one expect on a Saturday night so it wasn’t too big of an issue.

One of our party invited a guest unbeknownst to the rest of us. Our waitress was able to quickly adapt and move us to a new table. Our waitress was awesome that night keeping everything straight. I hear good things about the chicken and waffles, dirty chicken, and shrimp and grits. Nothing was knock your socks off good but definitely no complaints. Would absolutely eat here again.

Our server was great. The food was average, but definitely not worth the cost. I’m happy to see a southern style restaurant at national Harbor, but I’m not too worried about going back.

Wonderful decor and lovely staff. The Taste of the South sampling was such a great opportunity to try different things. The dishes were all delicious, but very intense. I liked the family style servings. If I would have ordered one order for myself, it would have been too much of one flavor.

Couldn’t pull apart or cut through ribs. Shrimp n grits were rubbery, cold & fishy tasting. Ended up eating one slice of 3 fried green tomatoes you get on an appetizer for $11 which tasted good but like 3 slices?

Everything was perfect from start to finish. Go for brunch and get the Taste of the South option. It’s the perfect way to experience Succotash for the first time. It was our first time but it certainly won’t be our last!

Fried Green Tomatoes are great. Salmon and Catfish are tasty choices. Tony provided wonderful service. Overall outstanding visit. It is a little noisy, but that’s a small issue.

We arrived on time for our reservation. We were seated near the kitchen. It was very loud we could barely have a conversation. My husband’s short ribs were cold and tough, but our waiter never checked on us after giving us our food. The server asked my husband if he wanted what was 1/2 of what he received boxed up. My husband said no, server did not inquire if it was good or not. I had the pan seared trout, while it was good, the rice that came with it was too salty to eat. The sautéed zucchini was good. We had the bourbon chocolate pecan pie, it looked and tasted like something you would purchase at a convenience store. We will not return.

The food was fantastic. However, we were seated 30 minutes after our reservation time and the hostess was less than apologetic. She had given up our seat to someone else, thinking our numbers had changed without consulting us. She then informed us it would be an additional 10 minute wait beyond the 20 minutes we had been waiting and again, was not apologetic or concerned.

The food was delish and well prepared! Two of the people in our party had food allergies and our server made sure to double check on how some items were prepared as well as informing the chef. The service was absolutely phenomenal! The noise level was good but the lighting was a little dark making it kind of hard to read the menu. However, overall we had a great experience and would definitely return and for sure recommend the restaurant to others.
